2k2 because it won the coin flip, I would play both if I had any comp but I dont.
so this is where the kof vs sf thread went over to.
thread creator is suchhhhhhhh a dick for doing that (of course im being sarcastic.)
98 at sbo = end of story.
of course in japan i saw more 2k2 machines than 98 but whatever, i still like 98 better. ill play both, though just dont expect me to learn BC combos out of spite.
twat
bullshit
98 will be at sbo due to the kof98UM release
just to launch the game / raise it from the grave
oh, even CFJ got a spot in SBO3 but this don’t mean that is a nice game
Its still at SBO regardless.
Sabin makes a good point though. Since it’s having a major tournament, 98 is the kof people should play at the moment.
Word.
98 is not a new game so i fail to see how this logic applies. and 98 does not = shit, theres been a decade of offline tourneys and comp for this game and tons of data to fall back on, its not in the same boat as CFJ or any of the other new games.
Thread went this far without mention of USA Sports Team
but i like 98 better regardless
i would rather have a kof2002 sbo tournament
2002 if you agree or not is played more than 98 around the world
blogs, forums, cmvs, everything spin around kof2002 with some small spot to kof98 that is still a great game
a 2002 tourny will envolve players from the whole world
europe, usa, japan, korea, mexico, brazil, pakistan and so on
while the world don’t play 98 so much they put it up just when kof98UM for ps2 is announced
nice coincidence uh?
you know that europe will not have the kof98 sbo qualifiaer due to the lack of players?
but we have a lot of 2k2 / XI / neowave good players (some already went to sbo)
since kof98 is outdated (this not mean that isn’t a great game simply it’s old) nobody play it more here
uh, sbo already had 2k2.
staying on topic though, i personally prefer 98 ( Chizuru ftw )
in 2003 and level wasn’t that high
Damn U!!
how can i forget about Chizuru!
Can i retract my vote!?
its so hard to choose!
How can you argue for 2002 when it’s practically fucking 98 anyway? I mean it’s like the only time they did well after 98 is when they cloned it with 2k2.
Go figure.
i agree with what youre saying here and i know 2k2 has a bigger scene but its not like those countries simply forgot how to play 98, the games are very similar, its not like that you can forget how to play 98 - i remember seeing oldschool vids from orochinagi from all the countries that you listed there, i guess they all retired/moved on.
and about the “sbo level not being high” for kof2002,
this is why we need afucking world tourney for the god damn kof series to get shit settled, this has been going on for years now
everyone claiming everyone else sucks and the level is not that high
but nothing getting done or organized because i understand its expensive and all about $$$ when it boils down to it =(
put K’, and a cool version of kim in 98 then 98 easily.
i started a similar discussion in the european tougeki forum (france host it)
i asked why if there are lot of players for kof2002 or XI no one seems to care about 98…
they answered things i’ve already stated, kof98 even if is (were) a nice game became old and obsolete so no one bother to re-learn it again
so no kof qualifier for europe, sadly italy have a few good players they can do well in a tournament their only resource will be trying last minute directly in japan
afterall i think that the lack of '98 players is due to no big world events/tournaments
neowave had a good scene and a good start…bruno vaysse went to japan as former european champion and a big tournament took place for the qualifier
last year some good players went to japan for kof XI (right now i’m the strongest italian at…sadly at time i didn’t own the game )
98 surely need more love, but no one seems to care
2002 is more fresh, more deep and more fun to play…oh, it’s fun only to start practice mode and pull BC combos just for the sake of watching
this problem is heavily suffered here, in italy,
ppl stuck at the same old school strategy and no one seems to care about the ‘quality jump’
i see the same thing going on over and over in forums, ppl misunderstand, ask for crap, stuck himself at scrubby strategies…
no way nothing can’t be played or learned this way
and more sadly nothing can change
btw i said that the 2002 level in sbo2003 was low due to lack of knowledge or experience…
think today at any kof2002 tournament: flashy combos, setups oh i saw a little in the japan vs taiwan matches and i got excited after few matches
catch them on youtube emil posted in the ‘top 10 video thread’
About that…most of the players that were doing the owning were the Taiwan ones, not the Japanese. I need to find more videos of that Kim player with the amazing stomp bug skills. Clearly the best Kim I’ve seen.

I may be wrong. I always assumed that KOF 2002 was very popular, becuase it was so easy to pirate.
Also isn’t KOF Neowave any good?
I played a bit of it and it felt really nice.
If ease of piracy was any indication, Garou would be the biggest FG ever.
