Hyperhal, I belive ur being a lil harsh by saying Adel is the weakest in the game. Shouldnt that belong to E tier?
he means health
aw yes yes of course. Yeah Adel def. sux at that.
Yup, when I said weak I meant health wise. And nobody in this game is weak, except for maybe Athena. NOBODY uses her in this game.
I do lol.
hahaha i was going to say that, but i am not good at this game so it doesn’t matter coming from me. s.C,f.bxxphoenix arrow super, dream cancel into leader yay!
I disagree. His LDM doesn’t make him handle being rushed down any better than he already does outside of giving him another wakeup/anti-air super, and B Genocide Cutter works fine for that purpose as long as they don’t bait you. It does give him more damage output, but IMO a more solid character would be better suited for the leader slot.
DF+A does start juggle, and you can follow up with either Kaiser Wave or D Genocide Cutter. Good luck hitting anyone with it, though. It’s the same kick animation as standing E and crouching C but it’s the slowest of the 3. Standing E is his best anti-air normal; it comes out very fast, and has the stupid priority that most E moves have.
For bread and butters, cr.Bx2, f.B (1 hit), anything, or st.C (2 hit), b.B (2-3 hit), anything; both are extremely hit confirmable, and great for quick shift combos. When you’re in the corner and you land either b&b, you can super cancel B Reppuken into either super (Kaiser Wave does slightly more damage). Outside of the corner, just use D Genocide Cutter instead of super cancelling (I haven’t played in a while, so I forgot whether or not he has better mid-screen super combos, LDM notwithstanding).
hcb+P (normal God Press) is unblockable, and can also be comboed into for placement purposes. Use this. =P
For jump-ins, D is good, B is also good and crosses up, and C and E are both good for air to air.
Kaiser Wave is really good for both long distance anti-air purposes and setting up lockdown/God Press shenanigans.
Oh, and as Justin Wong once said, “don’t get hit.” =P
I don’t play Adel as leader and he can be just as effective. Playing him in the 2nd slot is VERY important though as he defenitely is a bar reliant character. Gato is seen as more of a threat with a Dream Cancel, so I’m not into switching Adel to a leader from Gato.
I remember back in the day when my team was something like Kula/Momoko/L Adel. Man, so much BS from anti-air LDM that it isn’t even funny. There were even a couple of times where I LDMed the wrong way, but my opponent touched my hand and STILL got slammed. That was one of my most favorite teams, but I somehow fell off the bandwagon and now I suck with them.
So my favorite people in this game?
Shen, Shingo, Momoko, Elizabeth, Silber, Adel, Gai, Kula.
Thers no way I can decide which characters I want to take out of that list and use as a serious tourny-team, but I have to and WANT to in order to get myself a definate team to practice with. It’s not a matter of tiers, its a matter of me playing who I like, which makes this pretty difficult. Any of you guys have any input on what people I should use? I’ll take team chemistry and stuff like that into consideration, so any input is appreciated.
Out of that list, I like using these people as leaders: Silber, Elizabeth, Kula, Adel.
Also, I ordered my swapdisk so I can finally get my XI on at the comfort of my own home.
Let’s break it down-
-Kula and Gai are both really solid choices. Both of them do good damage without bar and with bar, both of them are good QS starters and enders, both have good movesets to mess with.
Out of the rest- Shen is a meter hog but with meter/skillpoints he does huge damage really easily… damage without bar is pretty decent as well, but he has to work a bit harder to land his hits sometimes so having bar helps make the most of it.
-Adel does big damage and stun, but takes big damage.
-Lizzy does good stun… she’s not bad, but she’s not great. Honestly can’t think of any threat she has off a low. Has a great QS starter in her uppercut super, though.
-Shingo is like a ghetto Kyo in some respects. Needs bar a bit more, but his supers are surprisingly good when they hit ;( close C > f+B XX QCF+C randomly does a ton of damage with the flame spark, backdash Shingo Kick has interesting applications, high damage LDM, a command throw… he’s got tools, just not all of them are all that great sometimes. Makes for a DECENT QS ender, kinda decent starting moves as well.
-Silber has a gimmick that beats people almost for free if they don’t adjust for it. Other than that… decent single-hit damage, but other people’s combos will do more than yours most of the time =/ stomp super (guard crush) DC to LDM is a decent way to land the LDM, I guess. He’s not exactly my first choice for a character to come in off a QS.
-Momoko is Momoko.
So think along these lines-
first, who do I really really want to play?
second, which characters set each other up well (QS stuff, meter use stuff)?
third, how well does this team match up with other teams? How much do I care about the matchups?
Eh? That LDM of his kills almost everything in the game. From point blank to near half screen distance, trying to do anything ranging from fireballs, sweeps, light pokes, etc and you just got smacked to the wall.
I think I mentioned on airborne opponents. I was thinking along the lines of QSing off a move which juggles into Adel and doing Df A. It is similar to Maxima doing a stand D, hcb K(whiff), K combo on juggled opponent.
I’m all for Adel as L. I mean he has the unblockable with it. Sure you can do Genocide Cutter in every other combo u can do the LDM in. But as stated earlier Adel must be in 2nd slot cause he IS indeed bar dependant. And hyper-hopping is a must with him since he jumps so damn high.
The so called unblockable is a crossup. In addition, the LDM nor his B Genocide Cutter should be used in combos as they scale too much. Use them as a stand alone move instead.
I think you meant “should not” but in any case I disagree- yeah they scale, but that’s guaranteed damage. Okay, with the B Genocide Cutter, maybe there’s another combo you could do for more damage, but with the LDM, unless you’re going out of your way to blow all your stocks and skill points in one combo, it’s still a damaging combo for 2 bars.
It’s not always about damage, anyhow. Certainly not the damage of ONE move in a full combo.

prolly the best K and Gato player I have ever seen in my life.
so why is that guy good again? there were better Gato’s at Final Round X and K’ really didn’t do anything.
I personally would like to see Beast of Fire’s K’. DG gives him good props
Beast of Fire has a HOT K’. I thought I was semi-okay with him until I saw Blake doing ALL of K’s BS. I said right then and there that I weren’t gonna bother with K’ anymore. Thats when I picked up Silber and started using Lizzy. >_>
Now that I think of it, Blake has really good knowledge when it comes to the XI cast. We had a few discussions while messing around with training mode.
the LDM does significantly more if you super cancel it off his lk reppuken.
its a waste of skill but its pretty safe vs save shifts since they still get smacked coming in.
i agree that combo into genocide cutter is a waste. it does like prolly 2 or 3 pixels more than comboing into his hk reppuken, but hk reppuken doesnt cost any meter and most importantly, you do major stun damage.
Oh man don’t say that. Now I’m even more eagered to see vids :amazed:
