KOF XI Thread :: Ver 2.0

Wrong. Only LAZY-SNK continues to release so-called “New” games, that are nothing but rehashes with the same shitty sprites of the last 10 years or so.

KOF 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and now XI= Exacte same ol’crappy sprites.

Will SNK EVER get off its ass and start making NEW character designs? Not very likely…

And to think SOMEONE here, i dont remember who, tried to tell me that KOF XI had updated sprites almost guilty gear-like.

The hell was that person smokin’? I import KOF XI, and its the SAME OLD CRAP!

From this point onward: Screw you SNK.

Tired of wasting money on all these so-called “New” titles, only to see its not really new its just the same old crap from the last 6-10 games, repackaged as new.

No wonder SCEA sometimes denys U.S releases of these cheaply-made rehashes.

SNK board member: “Duh Lets just make a spiffy new intro, shuffle the character selection around, slap a new game menu & title onto it, and voila! Its a new game that idiots will buy. Genius!”

Sorry but no longer will i be among those idiots anymore…

No offense but why did you not do some research before importing the game instead of listening to some random person on the internet ?

Why don’t you give the game a chance? I love this game I play it ATLEAST 2-3 times a day and beat it just to try to get better.

There is soo much to learn in this game I have been playing it since the day it came out for PS2 and I have yet to scratch the surface of the deep game play involved in this game.

You got it out of your system yet…?

Good, now leave the thread and dont come back…unless you wanna actually take the time and learn a new game.

lol a big evidence of ignorance

btw if i have to fight fire with fire i say:
i prefer snk with games every year than crapcom with only one new game since 1999 (i do not count that shitmatch cfj or so)

btw it’s clear that you never played some kof titles…even with almost the same roster all kofs play in a different way

and XI have pretty new sprites for almost all of the cast
so drink your cup of stfu and go to complain if there will be a sf4

Amen…gtfo…

Would you rather them give us something new…or us wait for 9+ years for a game “Street Fighter 4”

Rehashed sprites dont equal new game?? Hahaha don’t get me started…

Prey on us and we will prey on you…

Here I go…calmly…

WTF was the Alpha series then? Hmmm…by your token then Alpha 1-3 aren’t “new” because guess what?

They use the same sprites!!!

Hmm that means there is no difference between XVSF and MVC2…why?

Because they used the same sprites!!!

You telling me Alpha 1 is the same as Alpha 3?

Please please do your research or GTFO.

Well enough of that. I finally beat the game on hardest setting without “cheating” with the continue shit. Now I have to try to do it without loosing a fight.

My Kula has matured A LOT and my King has slightly gotten better. Now all I need to do now is practice with K’ … A LOT

What do you need in regards to K’ help?

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/K'_(KOF:XI)

Have a browse at the K’ Wiki for starters

yeah the wiki is a good place to start, K is pretty easy to use in my opinion. The hard part is really winning with him. I still use him sometimes though he’s fun. He just can have some trouble getting in, but then once he’s in good luck getting him back off you.

Your arguement or lack therof fails, simply because of the fact: That there were only 4 SF Alpha games(if you count A2Gold). Then capcom STOPPED. And that was it. Only alpha releases since then were nostalgia collections/re-releases, of the Alpha series on handhelds and consoles.

Capcom is NOT pulling a SNK by making more Alpha games, with all the old sprites, and trying to bill them as “new” titles.

Whereas SNK Continusly puts out all these “New” KOF games, but they aren’t really new at all, they’re just CHEAP remixes of all the older stuff released earlier. SNK is pretty much on life-support at this point but somehow continues to dragg on like a coma-victim, attempting to coast along on all their PAST(10 yrs ago) successes by rereleasing the SAME damn games. Which are falsely relabeled as “New” games.

As for the KOF games themselves go, KOF XI SUCKS. KOF 2002 easily has it beat. Best to not even mess with XI, and just stay with KOF’02. Character selection on its own puts XI to shame.

Whatever. Its clear the ONLY real work SNK will EVER put into a fighting game anytime soon, are those maximum impact titles.

Wonders which is worse: Capcom fanboys? Or SNK Fanboys?

LOL@ KOF02 being better than KOFXI. GTFO with that shit…

I just need to get used to K’ a bit more his hop feels a bit weird. Its not smooth like Kula’s and Kings.

2002 better than XI?! I beg to differ. That was def. as in your terms “a remix” yay for old sprites, yay for no new characters, yay for lack of sound & graphical quality. Yay for this piece of shit? um yeah lol sure

Well AF when you are run by a site that is strictly Capcom fanboys…

And I run into them ALL the time…then I’d have to say Capcom…because they are on a SRK site many feel they can come in and wag their dick in the thread and blow up everything.

I will give Super Warrior one thing- He does play 2002…so that goes to his credibility.

But apparently SW you forgot about one game-Capcom Fighting Evolution…

lets see…as horrible as that was could that have ANYTHING to do why Capcom stopped?

Plus lets look at it from a bigger standpoint-
'
It would take many years for both Capcom and SNK to redraw all their sprites…and yes graphics are nice…but the AW right now and more variation and more things to do and fast paced games and MORE CHARACTERS (hint…) are the sacrifice I am wiling to pay over a game like 3s that has like 19 characters…

Check…Capcom Fighting EVO…yes its on Cps3 and yes it looks better than SNK games…but like 23 characters total??

NGBC? Try about 40!!!

KOFXI- Try about 47!!!

SStenka??- Try about 53!!!

Get my drift? If you want more characters then the graphics period are gonna take a halt…

Look at MVC2 vs. XVSF…graphics take a hurt in favor of more characters…which makes people happy…

Now sure some sprites need redrawn(Amakusa, Yuki from NGBC etc) sure but am I not gonna play it because of that?? Hell no!!!

I am sure SNK will eventually redraw their sprites…but until then as I tell everyone else…

“Don’t bite the hand that feeds us because they may take away the food…leaving us ALL STARVING.”

Yeah CFE sorta had that Lazy-SNK syndrom: Nothing new, just a remix of old stuff labeled as a “new” game.

The big difference there however: Capcom ONLY did it ONCE. Where as SNK has been following this game “formula” for the past 7-8 friggin’ years now, and CONSISTANTLY releasing one rehash title after the other for quite awhile.

Many years? Oh no it wouldn’t. Its only a matter of SNK getting off its ass and actually putting some WORK into its games.

SNK’s extreme laziness has shown through on more than just KOF unfortunitly. Look at Metal Slug, great game series yeah, but play one Metal Slug and you’ve playing them ALL as far as graphics go.

I was suprised as all hell when i finally saw Metal Slug 5 in the arcades and how it looked EXACTLY THE SAME as every other one. But i had to remind myself, this is LAZY SNK afterall. Blehh.

Its sad that 2D fighters are dieing genre, but really, you shouldn’t tottally lower your standards and readily eat-up just any pile of crap that comes down the tube from SNK.

Look at games like Devil May Cry or Halo series. Fans would get pissed if the next 4-5 games graphically LOOKED EXACTLY the same as past ones, as well as they should. Naturally with sequels improvements or variations in several areas such as graphics SHOULD occur.

Why are 2D fighters suddendly excluded from this rule? Because you guys are so desperate just to get a “New” one? sigh Sad thing you are NOT getting anything “new” at all, just being suckered in by a lazy game company.

SNK should do like capcom, and just hang it up gracefully, instead of dragging on past its prime not knowing when to quit, like some washed-up 47 yr old boxer.

I could careless about graphics as long as it delivers in gameplay. Super Mario Bros in our time has no high res graphics none the less it still fun as hell to play.

SMB1, SMB2, SMB3, SMWorld,etc.

All 4 of those particular games had either differently designed(newer), or Better quality graphics than the previous games.

Nintendo didn’t just make SMB1, then have every other game afterwards with the EXACTE SAME sprites. They improved, updated, switched to newer character/enemy/level sprites, etc.

The SMB games was a very bad example.

I don’t care if you guys want to argue whehter this game sucks or not, or whether snk is better than capcom or capcom is better or whatever. I just want to talk about the game itself, and not in some broad over generalized way with no real facts, just a bunch of blather. The thread was going so well too. If I could I’d edit out the last page or so. So if you guys want to argue this please make a new thread and leave this one. I’d hate for this to get all modded up again.

The wiki for K’ has weird stuff in it. For example, it mentions that you can do Air Trigger from Minutes Spike, which isn’t true. He could do this in NGBC, but they removed it for XI, with good reason (the way the Air Trigger works in XI, giving it that property would make attempting Minutes Spike completely safe). They also have their chains reversed (K’ does down+B, down+A, not down+A, down+B, cuz down+B is not cancellable). They also mess up combos, like saying you could cancel down+A into QCF+C, which won’t combo.

Anyway, the main thing about K’ is that he is kind of slow compared to the rest of the cast. Because of this, the same hyperhop-attack until they die strategy really doesn’t work well for him. This doesn’t mean he’s bad, it just means you will have to adjust and use slightly different strategies. You actually have to play pretty defensively with him until you get a clean opening.

These slight disadvantages are balanced out by the fact that K’ has access to some really nice mixups, does tremendous damage with as little as one stock and is very strong defensively, something uncommon in this game since most characters aren’t properly equipped to deal with the disgustingly easy offense the game gives to you. If you make him your leader and give him sufficient stock, he gets these retarded 100% combos. Really good at the end of a round where you might need a quick kill to come back.
