KOF XI Thread :: Ver 2.0

I got AIM man…PM me your info…I can get on MSN…PM me we can set it up.

You do exactly what I do Rengoku…I am a nerd in every since of the word…I gotta start saving early to go to evo and other places because i live in texas…

but i am such a nerd that i use all of it to my advantage,

and always find anyway to get better.

I thirst for competition, i crave it, live on it…and if not I spend my time trying to reinvent the wheel, and find something crazy, to use to destroy people with.

:badboy:

So for me the top SNK places in the states are Cali (all), NYC, North Carolina (NGBC), Houston, Denton, where I am…and I intend on traveling more to play/meet people to get out of my bubble, get more exposure, and constantly get better.

I thirst for knowledge, and competition.

I live off it…

How to beat Gato: Poor water on his arcade stick:tup:

Don’t ever give up Rengoku.

Shrug the way to beat Gato is the same way you beat any rushdown character, just a lot harder to pull off…
Proper spacing and use of your pokes and anti-airs, try your best to outthink him and move better than him, and then rush him down if you have the chance.

You’d be surprised how much easier it is to fight Gato if you use your pokes and don’t just sit there and let him get on top of you in the first place. It’s still really hard and you’re not going to keep him out forever, but eh that’s S rank for you. Gato just has a lot of ways to get in, so rather than try to keep him out, break up his momentum somehow and then try to get on top of him and kill him or force him to switch out at least.

Shrug it’s all well and good to say things about fighting Gato, but Gato is still only as good as the player controlling him. I’ve knocked out plenty of bad/okay Gatos without much difficulty, and good Gatos? Well the problem isn’t Gato at that point, it’s the player.

I don’t think that France is better than the US in 3s.

Now going back to KOF XI…

Are the recovery rolls (when you roll after being knocked down) punishable? Because I have tried to sweep and to grab them, but it didn’t work. Am I doing it wrong or are they unpunishable?

And about Athena being the worst or not, some of the people that plays KOF XI here think that her LDM is cheap, and some have even claimed that she is invincible in this KOF because of that  (maybe they don’t remember 02 Athena).

yes, thats just whats needed for beating gato. dont let him get in the air.
my anti-gato is actually kyo, but characters like yuri, kula and benimaru will also do well.

us as us italians not united states :stuck_out_tongue:

really i won’t give it up
i love kof and untill i play vg (for at least another 25 years) i’ll learn every kof they release

when i’ll have my chance i’ll definitively put all of my skills to become the strongest :stuck_out_tongue:

ok, strategy time!!!

let’s see what we can expect from a gato player from the very basis to the most expert mixups

i think the best gato weapons are his sweeps, crB jumpD jumpE and jumpB
the easiest way to link these for what i’ve seen is:

crB crB then sweep
crb crB then jump B or D to try to land a combo or E to fix on the ground the opponent remaining in some frame advantage due to blockstun to continue pressing

my favourite way to deal with this very basic stuff is to use a move that lift you a bit from the ground and hit that bastard during the sweep animation

i throw in terry’s CD and Kyo’s farD both raise from ground jumping high from low attacks then kick the opponent (you can use them against everyone not only gato)
with terry if you get counter (you have to anticipate gato’s sweep) you can follow to a buster wolf for additional damage and/or a dreamcancel while leader

how’s about rolling?or gato’s reach lenght will kick you anyway?
forward roll will make you eat a whole combo but backwards?

for the jumpin
usually i tend to see how my oppo is trying to attack me if he prefer to jump and keep me under pressure with long strings or not

if i notice a long pressure i try to break with some quick moves as kim’s hienzan or the forever green buster wolf
but it’s too risky 'cause if gato wait for your counter you will be open to a big risk

another thing i’m used is the forward roll while gato jumps at me but it still leave him in advantage making you recovery just in time to not be hit
this can be only a good corner escape while thinking to something else…

discuss :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding.

pure gold

Random AA’s>Gato. Also you MUST stay on him especially if he has no meter. I’ve found that gato has very few ways to get people off him aside form E move or random counter move.

standing hk (both close and far) works wonders as anti air for gato.

heres some general anti gato strats

-his hyper hop hk misses against crouchers from point blank

-you can roll away after u blocked the second hit from the LDM but you have to eyeball it.

after being knocked down:

-rolling during wake up will avoid his dust ball, close hk, hyper hops but will lose to his command throw and can be baited.

-blocking high during wakeup will avoid his overhead (f+lp), dive kick, hyper hops but loses to c.hk, clk, clk into super and vice versa. blocking in general leaves you open to the command grab

-wake up dp and super loses to dust ball and at times command grab and dive kick

imo, eiji does really well vs gato. his chi blast and fireball super wont let gato spam his qcb moves as much and he really good priority on his normals to take gato on.

gato command seems pretty shitty in 11 i swear it could grab in the air in 03,and doesnt it whiff on duckers?

can gato get anyoff his divekick? qcb+k HP

i think he could combo off it in 03?

People have dodged my Gato’s grab by rolling which is wierd as hell. It still get’s crouching people however. So I guess the typical grab mechanics don’t apply to it?

Gato’s Kick DM is stupid good thing time around cuz it juggles anywhere now. Plus, it’s good to use on wakeup.

I tried Gai again today and had some sucsess with him against the CPU. His options off QCB+E are awesome.

these silly little frame advantage tricks will only work on someone who mashes. the people at my arcade do this for some reason…

gato would be wayy too good if he can combo off his dive kick (like he isnt already) so, no he cant comobo off his dive kick anymore.

command grab is really good. it doesnt grab opponents in mid air but it grabs crouchers, you can combo into it which i’ve done vs a back turned duck and the range of the grab is surprisingly good.

Silber can take care of Gato. Any command jump attempt from max range will get stuffed by d, u + K

^ Fuck that Silver takes care of a good number of top-tier characters.

I’m thinking of taking up Kensou again. Just for the sheer annoyance factor he has going.

Going back to the Oswald infinite, it may not be as easy to do as previously stated. This AZN was trying to do it EVERY time he got the CPU in the corner and kept fucking it up somehow. Maybe he miss-timed it or forgot to do a standing A or something.

I’m thinking of putting Jenet on my team (Kula/?/Eiji; was thinking putting in Duck or Ash). Any pros/cons on that? Same with Duck also.

dont dare bring up his infinite again. Or else someone(s) will waste 3 more pages bitchin about it.
