The infiinite is pretty easy actually, just do the df+a hella meaty, basically it’s standing jab, wait just a split second and do the df+a! I set it up after quick switches with kasumi! Or if you land a combo when your in the corner, instead of doing the normal follow up combo into ace, just go into infinite, the thing is amazingly easy to land if you look for it. It’s cheap. Heh, but everyone knew that.
The bridge sway options are nice until people start simply command grabbing you out of it, then it’s less fun. Gai is good until people play against him a couple times and then he’s less fun, though he still is okay especially as a battery.
As far as silber being anti-top tier. If people just play defensive against him then he gets screwed because he can’t do crap.
any ralf users here? or is everyone busy scrubbing it up with clark?
ralf = cvs2 sagat. standing/crouching fierce all day and the occasional jumping hk/e.
too bad he dont have a hotfoot super or else, he’ll own everyone for free.
That is SO true. I played against a Gai that did that all day and I jsut used Ralf and Tizoc and grabbed him to death.
Yes…Silver does die to turtlers or people without ground fireballs. Kensou/King etc.
I have a friend who plays ralf. Damn he can be annoying especially if you get one knockdown. Then mixing up his command grab and the autoguard one is to good.
yes, i noticed during the kim vs gato matchup
if you use some (even a bit) laggy moves you waste your frame advantage
and especially when you do strong hangetsuzan if the last hit will miss (the one that occur when kim place hif feet on the ground) gato can punish with a sweep while other charas can’t
if he have a stock can palm dm you even on the second hit of the sanren geki (qcbP qcbP)
so i realized that overall gato can turn on attack size everytime you lag a pressing string
the strongest idea to deal with him is to poke waiting for an opening
kim’s far, close and croughing A do this work very well but a mistimed farA can allow gato to jump leaving the pressure state
so i mixup with D that can prevent him from moving
to find an opening i like to use a move that give me some frame advantage or a tie the count where i start with an high priority poke
kim’s A terry’s crA ash crA and so on
when i have the chance to follow a combo i always go for a tag in search of stun
the most important thing i want to discuss against gato is not your attack strings (pretty the same pokey pokey thing for every char) but how to leave his painful pressing
i waste every time a stock for E counter…i can’t find a safe way without risk any of his combo
sometime i stop his HH with a farA but it depends a lot from distance
if he jumps after a sweep you can A counter
but if the jump comes from a crB you can’t and he will be at the right distance to land an airB or D that wins on almost your basics
dp or dm are the best choice if you have speed in hands
what do you think?
That’s pretty much why Clark is his worst matchup.
I play Ralf…he’s basically a beefed up 2k3 version. What do you need?
Cr. Fierce Hitconfirm to DP+p launcher to OTG attack. Counterhit confirmed E to Dp+C… to OTG attack… autoguard old school command grab games…I don’t see too much else…
Not unless Gai ducks for cover and…
SHORYUKEN!
He can combo off the dive kick actually, just not all the time. Very dependant on when/where he hits it, but I’ve seen it happen and have personally done it plenty of times in matches.
Also Gato has pretty much the same defensive options as anybody else- roll, stay away from you, get above you and kick you in the face. Defense isn’t all about DPs and flying stomps, geez.
If Gato goes for close D after a knockdown and you roll, generally at best you are left at neutral with Gato at a very good range to c.D or hop D. That kick recovers so fast that he might as well be at advantage even if you roll.
Really there are no cut and dry answers to Gato’s stuff. DPs and random specials/supers that hit him out of shenanigans are nice and they make Gato players have to think… but what happens against Gato players who are already thinking? If it were so simple to stuff Gato rushdown, he wouldn’t be S rank. You can’t just insult the intelligence of Gato players and expect to come out on top- you have to outthink them but you need to know how they think first.
Like I play Gato with a lot of frame-advantage setups to keep pressure going- I generally don’t use the flip moves in pressure except to change things up, and against people with good AAs or stupid gimmicks like Silber stomps I’ll generally stick to c.B based rushdown or play spacing games to bait out stupid things for me to sweep or hyperhop D so I can go crazy.
Though really my Gato usually comes in off a QS into some super combo so shrug.
Yes!
Crimson disaster totally has it correctly. Sure random stuff can stop gato, but, you have to take a big risk (IE, super, DP, Roll out) to get him off of you, the only thing that isn’t as big a risk is cd, but there goes some precious meter, which depending on your character may be very necessary to kill gato once he’s off your ass. This is why gato is S-class, because his regular game with out command stomp is just so solid, throw in command stomp mixups and then you have a beast. The lack of really good mixups is why a character like say clark who has an amazingly solid game, is only A, he just doesn’t have that extra umph of good workable mixups (or also in clarks case anti-air) to get over the S,A Hump. (yeah I know there is a little more than this keeping clark out of S but it’s a decent example).
Speaking of clark, hh E, is too good, it’s so fast you whiff it over them, hey look at that command grab before you know what happened.
then i guess clark is blanka? cuz his crouching fierce is crazy also.
crouching fierce© and jumping roundhouse(E) just like blanka!:wgrin:
ralf is pretty crazy such ez damage, but who is having trouble with ralf mixup? he doesnt really have 1. commandgrab is pretty slow and just block his punches? i say to some type of guessing game with ralp you gotta wait for an opening and go for counters since he has the glitchest and weirdest hitboxes in the game!:wasted:
what the deal with his grab? is it only upperbody autoblock? i beat jump ins like iori crossover kick and jumping E’s but a simple c.LK will beat it??
is the oz inf arcade only or ps2 or both?
also i heard ralph has an inf with unblockables?
You can get grabbed out of that too.
^ Thank god I do all of Gai’s BS mix-ups from a sweeps distance away. I only do his grab when my opponent is waking up.
That doesn’t make sense You are on the ground… That makes no sense whatsoever… Bullshit i say!
But this is what u posted, sometime ago, in the arrange/arcade mode thread :
:wasted:
Arrange mode > Arcade mode
Hey D. Geese, gimme ur AIM or MSN.
reconchature i can’t get your point
it seems that you want to talk about tiers but what my post on the sad situation of my fighting scene is quoted there?
btw:
yes maybe arrange mode is better than arcade more
but arrange mode is not kof XI that i want to play
gato is strong?
ok let’s study how to handle him (and in the last pages we’re discussing about this)
every top tier in every game is strong
so all of the fighting games that are out need an arrange mode or to be considered as shit?
or tell me a really and completely balanced game that is out
k4, It’s shinomega4352. When you gonna get on? (Bc I gotta get AIM Express)
I’m watching these Mexican 2k2 vids right now and some NeoWave ones so I’m gonna be available for just a little while longer…
You can get grabbed out of his Frog Down!?
I tested it out against some Clarks (I tried it out shortly after realizing his best tool is useless against Clark), and apparently he can be grabbed out of it.
Jon Badwolf: I’ve gotten normal thrown and Clark’d out of it. It is retarded and makes no sense whatsoever, yes.
