KOF XI for PS2: Arcade or Arranged mode

I rest my case.

Next opinion please ?

I agree with beast of fire’s sentiment. By taking away anything at all from the arcade mode you are still significantly changing the game.

And judgement is not annoying at all, after I learned all the combos I almost never have judgement decide the match. Also the only times I’ve lost to turtely players, were by judgement… so it’s not like judgement disallows turtling it’s just you have to play your normal, active turtle style that KOF has always had, such as kensou awesome fireball zoning, where he waits around behind his fireballs and then punishes you when you mistakenly jump/roll at the wrong time or counter attack at the wrong time.

I would also like to mention that how much testing went in to the “balances” for arrange, as opposed to the many loke test kof XI when it was in arcade? I’m willing to bet not much. So while certain characters will be moved down I"m willing to bet even in arrange there is an undoubtable top-tier, so why not just play in arcade if both versions are going to have top-tier, it’s not like other characters can’t compete with gato, kula, oswald.

So in other words, you agree with me that Arrange mode makes the game less interesting? Funny, as that doesn’t seem to line up with what you’ve been saying.

You are just guessing … but u have a point. Every fighting game has its top tiers. The thing is that if u have a “normal” roster of 30+ characters, where only one or two characters can beat the rest of the cast without that much difficulty by using the same patterns/tactics on all of them, the game becomes unbalanced.

Maybe arrange mode will have new dominant characters ( gato is still top tier, but not dominant ), but how we will know if we havent given that mode a chance ? … Now if we play for a while, and realize that arrange mode also has its “issues”, then we can decide which mode should be set to be the standard for competitive play. Like u said, there has been no loke tests for it … why dont we try for ourselves ?

I dunno how arrange mode is doing in Japan. Most people play at the arcades there, but with the online feature maybe they will give the console version a try, and with that, arrange mode too.

EDIT :

In other words, you are not competitive because you dont like balanced fighting games.

Wow, those are some bold words. Something tells me that you have no idea of what competitive really means. So I guess that means most SNK players aren’t competitive, seeing as almost all of their games aren’t balanced. That’s some great work there, trying to debunk my credibility instead of actually addressing the points I make. Seriously, what a fucktard thing to say.

I hope the rest of your stooge friends aren’t as arrogant and thickheaded as you. Have fun playing XI and being “the best” for all of three more months until the game fades back into obscurity.

Debunk your credibility ?

lol … when did u have one ?

Whatever. You’re just a shit-talking douchebag trying to cover up his lack of actual brains. Come back when you have something worthwhile to say.

The better question is, what credibility do YOU have?

I doubt mvc2 or 3s would be anymore fun if you took out the top 3 or 4, same goes for KOFxi, infact mvc2 would be that much more boring, sure you’d have 50 other characters to play or watch. But i doubt that even if all 50 where played for another 6 years that the growth of would be anywhere as near close as it now. same for 3s, take out yun ken and chun… and let urien dudley and makoto run wild…Someone will always be “cheap” but the fact that you want to play a game where the charcters that every one else play’s with are “nerfed” hurts the very potenial for growth of that very game… Your hurting the game more than you are helping all because YOU feel like its more fair?

Just because xxxx is strong now doesn’t mean he will be months down the road. (not that kof will last that long lol, even tho if one was it would be this one) But moving on to another game b4 you broken this one in fully boggles my mind.

Arcade Mode has more awesome looking combos, especially juggles.

I can’t do those on Arrange Mode.

Characters may be powerful, but there are ways to beat them!!

I couldn’t agree more,
Has there ever been a game with completely balanced characters? Nobody broken no top tier no bottom?
I dont think so. It would make fighting games dull, 30 characters all the same tier? You would be reduced to choosing your player on look alone. Sure you could have different moves like a grappler vs a charge character, but then you could say there are to many differences to be a fair fight.

I’m still confused as if why the arugment continues even after this post.

What really confuses me is this post tho:

What the hell?
Uhhhhh… so your saying you want 2 life bars? Erm, wtf?

Also, I’m lead to believe that you really don’t know anything about KoF XI after seeing something like this:

What funny about this comment is that this is never the case.
Also, Kula can be defeated and it has happen many times.

Everything elese seems covered.

Search me, seems like there was an actual debate until he decided to start attacking me personally. Whatever.

OH SHIT SON. FUCKIN TRUTH. Forget Justin Wong man, he ain’t competitive for shit cuz he plays Marvel. He’s hella casual!

And another bad reason to switch to arrange mode is people would get screwed studying foreign match videos (current match videos). Its actually good to see how someone manages their meter, manages their leader, and changes their attack style depending on their life bar.

Lets not forget how many people stayed with 2k2 when Neowave came out, even tho Neowave was just a more balanced version of it…

Yeah…

valid point … instead of just worrying on how much lifebar u have left, with judgement on there will be other factors taken into consideration.
Do u have an example ?

Keep em coming,

Say player A has judgement on his side but player B has less life. What does B have to do? Get in on A while sustaining the highest amount of life he can keep. This calls for high concentration on what player A is doing and what their characters good anti-air and ground pokes are. B also has to understand how much range these moves give so he can actually bait them out then punish with whatever move/special/DM B’s character has. B also has to know what combo does the most to help him gain judgement.

Now, if you do this reverse, A with less life but has judgement. A must have a high understanding on what B’s patterns/habits are when rushing down. A must know what his character can do against B’s attacks. A needs to have a clear concentration and not break under pressure (ala do random DM and hope it works like a majority of US players do for some reason). A just has to play smart and keep B out of his face.

Judgement is a new system that adds more to the game. It adds more to the game than just turtling when timing out (remember in 2002 with Choi? The guy just flies out of the screen when time runs out.)

Agree’s, Gato/Kula are the top tier characters, but that doesn’t mean they are beyond invincible and impossible to beat.

I beat many Gato/Kula/XX team players before, just practice on what to do to gain an advantage, Kensou is an example that is good against Gato.

Plus, many of us has been playing KOFXI arcade ever since it came out.

I don’t know about the rest of you who never played the arcade version before ( which are the majority who enjoys Arrange Mode) but I am not going to learn this game all over again.

Arrange Mode should of made sense if they released an Arrange Mode version of KOFXI in the arcade, but they didn’t so get used to Arcade Mode being the top choice!!

another thing is the judgement gauge makes leader management more important, as being the person with the yoru leader alive seems to give you more judgement, also hitting an ldm drastically switches the judgement gauge. So it makes the leader more important than just someone with a special super, which if that was the case leader system would be really dumb in my opinion.

Interesting feedback.
