KOF Maximum impact regulation a thread

Any word on MIRA 2 yet? I wanna play this, but don’t wanna get serious til MIRA 2 comes out. I know it sounds crazy.

Nothing on MIRA2 has been released yet. Dunno why. I don’t see the point for a MIRA2 is MI3 is gonna come out unless MIRA2 comes after MI3. You might as well play MIRA for the time being.

Heh, now you see why I play/main her. She can easily stuff rush down and build meter pretty fast, I would say one of the fastest builder besides N.Geese, Kyo and Xiao. I love setting up Uriel (the cloud thing) against teleport characters.

I should probably learn WW or someone for jic purposes.

Question, if we ever did a team tourny what would you guys like to see? I’ve seen a lot of different styles for this, the main one is a 3v3 switch off which looks kinda fun. I thuoght 2v2 round-robin would be a good fit or just plain 2v2 hould be good as well.

Don’t mind me much though, I just woke up.

edit: I’ll have some comments on the vids here soon. Want to get another bowl of cereal first.

More matches coming today…the end of the MIRA MWC tournament…stay tuned!!

WHOO! I played like trash the whole tourney. GGs, though.

Yeah good shit… Nice meeting you. This is about to be my 3rd week of playing the game lol.

Thanks a lot DG

No prob…I just wish I could put them up on higher quality because those matches CERTAINLY DESERVED IT…

But hey I’m sure in the future the matches will be EVEN BETTER.

Syxx man, how’d you lose that. Honestly his Mai isn’t that good, no jump cancel mix-ups at all. All he did with Fio was go for nintedo add (bomb-run, sort of a joke a friend made up since she always scream “WIIIIIII!”) -> lvl 3. Parry the third hit of those strings. What really made me wonder was why he didn’t go for tonfa cancel or even tk bomb.

Question though, you thinking of picking up Ninon? If so I’ll probably start up a primer for her tonight along with a few more [have to redo my Leona one] since there’s actually hype for this game now.

No he just used Ninon to counter his Mai…

i played his mai the day before and it is really good so he had to change up a bit during the tournament… but believe me it is awesome

the thing about this game is you have to play kind of simple and that’s how we were playing

oh and the string he uses it can really lock you down, and you can’t sabaki any of the hits in the string

He’s right…you all are making the very bad mistake of judging just on match vids…you didnt see the full picture…you didn’t see the pre-tourney casuals or any of that shit…

This game is great, me and a friend had some good matches for this game.

I was somewhat surprized that you could still do Fio :qcf:+:k: a multitude of times just like in MI2. Of course it is not cheap, cause all you have to do is roll and block afterward. However, when me and my friend battled against some others, they did not know how to escape.

One change that I am glad they made for Classic Kyo and Mr. Karate was the removal of their energy charging taunts.

About how you guys played, I’m re-watching the vids again. I’ll do a little write up asking a few questions about things that make no sense to me at all.

Ash needs that dash move as a normal special in KOF12 (instead as an LDM extra)

I’ll say that his Fio is good, it really is since he’s like the only one I’ve seen playing her, but I think I’ll have to see his Mai in action [from the casuals, hopefully you guys got some of the footage of his Mai?].

The string I was talking about was the one with the overhead kick, that you can sabaki on reaction since there’s a good amount of time in between the hits. I should know that notation since Leona has the exact same string but I haven’t been practicing lately so not much to say there ^^;. sigh I’m just going to have to breakdown and get 06 until I can get another copy of this.

@ DG: I do have to say this out loud, you’ve gotten a lot better since the last vids of you playing. I still want to play you all sometime, hopefully I can make it to NEC this year or someother event that’s close to where I live.

all i know is i was breaking throws in winners finals like crazy lol

i wonder if it will be the same in MIRA2

esom says you can do the same thing in MI2 to break all throws

fio’s kick string can punish stuff that other characters have trouble with because it’s fast and has awesome range

Okay, after re-watching the matches, I have to ask: Why were most of everyone’s combos so simple and short? The average was 2-4 hits and that’s it. Save for a few SC combos. I know you all could have gotten more than that with/without meter.

fuck ups and some strings are sabaki-able so you have to mix up

the string the mai uses, you can’t sabaki any of the hits after the first one

like i’ll use D+a,a to push back with jivatma also, if you do the whole thing, fio can punish it with her kick string because of the range

things like that

this game isn’t about just landing big combos, it’s about wittling down your opponent’s life, if you go out there throwing out full strings you’re going to get sabaki’d

and it’s also to setup to start another attack while you have advantage

for example, you starte a string and they are getting hit but still mashing sabaki incase you fuck up, if you stop, their sabaki will whiff and you can start hitting them again with a new combo

like when i played xiao against webster i gave up doing her string into her level 1 in order to set up the kiss of death on him when i had him locked down in the corner

Also, I like to save meter for jiva and ash (which is why I play him last) but if the opportunity arises I’ll use it on my first character.

Esom liked to save meter for fio for her lvl 3, and for athena for her healing

If you do athena’s healing before the round ends in the event of a time over, her health still goes up after the time has run out.

Also I kept fucking up ash’s combo on fio because the last hit of the fireball either doesn’t hit or hit’s her really weird… it was strange

Fio is a hard matchup for Ash IMO. I had to waste a meter just to close distance on her.

I get keeping strings short because sabaki is so stupid. I get mixing it up to keep your opponent on edge. What I’m asking is, why when you do land a hit and can go for a more damaging combo, you don’t. I mess up on combos too but if you can do it, why not?

It’s like selecting not to maximize damage when you can because you’re afraid you’ll mess up.
