I like Jor-El’s costume far more than Supes, but for fuck sake Crowe lay off the booze and hit the gym for a montho_O
Russel Crow looks like someone brought their dad to comic con. He does not look menacing at all.
My mistake, I guess I was expecting Superman’s dad to be wearing a white suit, so I thought he was the villan, lol.
Mmm… scabby.
Did i just read Amy Adams as Lois?
Why did they switch actors? I thought the dude in the last one looked spot on and this guy looks nothing like supes
As this is (theoretically) the start of an all-new movie series, they are attempting to disassociate Man of Steel from the previous Superman movies. Accordingly, they went with an all-new cast and crew.
I will defend Superman Returns in many respects, but one area that definitely hurt it in its “broad strokes” relationship to the previous movies was that Brandon Routh was picking up where Christopher Reeve left off.
Reeve not only defined Superman for all live action iterations to follow, but he also left a giant footprint on the superhero genre as a whole. Seeing another actor trying to inhabit his version of the character, it just doesn’t feel quite right. It’s absolutely nothing against Routh’s performance, because I thought he didn’t do too bad, but he’s fucked by association.
I had a similar feeling about Christopher Pine in the new Star Trek movie. It’s absolutely nothing to do with the quality of his performance, but it’s hard to get over the impression that he’s a kid playacting in daddy’s clothes.
Who knows? Maybe Pine will get over that effect in the next movie. Maybe Routh would have as well, if he’d been given the chance.
Leaked (cellphone) SDCC footage, TDK Rises will have a shortened version attached to it. http://www.mediafire.com/?xk44uvd49kqttxt
Man I dunno. More Smallville (wasn’t that a TV show), and destroying downtown-- That’ll be 3 straight years of that in big summer movies (TF3, Avengers, MoS). Doesn’t look like the usual Zack movie though.
Maybe they put a gun to his head and made him shoot the movie like a normal person, instead of constantly twiddling the overcrank/undercrank settings.
I don’t agree with people with accents voicing other people with different accents/no accents.
looking back at old comments. That Batman Vs Superman gif still makes me crack up
lol how the hell did Marvel win the whole thing when DC have Dr Manhattan??
Same reason wolverine beat lobo…pure nonsense. The JL members in their own right written to the full extent of their abilities would thrash like a good chunk of marvel hero’s and villains lol. How it was even much of a contest especially when you consider some of the incredibly OP guys in DC is beyond me.
Does anyone think it won’t suck? I like Snyder, he’s an inferior version of Ridley Scott using similar style and scope to display information visually and doing the best he can with the material he’s given. Not the best or worst choice for a supes reboot I’m curious to see how it turns out. Also the cast is impressive.
And +1 for Superman Returns being ass.
Did anyone even watch that one Superman movie that came out some years ago? I think me and The Wife went to see it but we thought it was kind of boring. To be honest I really cant remember it.
The powers and the abilities of superheroes is dependent on who’s writing. You could say the JL members could thrash a good chunk of Marvel heroess but you could reverse it too. Just sayin.
Dr. Manhattan isn’t a part of the DCU.
Well… he is in some kind of way, but I’d have to get Grant Morrison in here to explain it and he’s too busy writing songs with the disembodied thought-form of John Lennon.
Sorry for the thread derailment, but why isn’t Dr. M part of the DC Universe???
Watchmen is a self-contained story. While it is published by DC Comics, it occurs in a standalone universe.
This hasn’t stopped the occasional background reference to Watchmen in other DC publications, mainly as a result of artists being clever, but there hasn’t been an actual crossover.
Dr. Manhattan vs Superman…
