birthright handled it well imo, which is what a good chunk of this movie was about. when he left smallville he traveled the world as a small time reporter. i think in africa he was a local village paper or sumtin. When he gets to the daily planet he looks hella scrubbish with his resume…but he actually had one.
Goody, you should know you’re not allowed to use Tim Burton movies as a reference.
And Joker killed himself in that one. He should have realized Batman had him tied to a gargoyle, and just not bothered with the chopper. Like he said in Batman Begins “Just because I won’t kill you, doesn’t mean I have to save you.”
A man who doesn’t prevent another mans death is not actually killing him. That’s like saying batman killed Jason cause he failed to rescue him in time.
What I don’t get is the terraforming part. It would’ve killed all the humans on earth if it succeeded, but no doubt if we died, all of our animal and plant life would’ve as well. What would the kryptonians eat then? Wouldn’t they just have starved to death?
Yeah, you’re right. The movie did a very poor job indicating how much time had passed. Must have been yeeears by the looks of it with the Daily Planet rebuilt, the city is not a flattened deathscape of ash and ruin and people aren’t shell shocked by barely surviving an alien induced Armageddon. A simple “x years later” caption would have worked. It ain’t hard.
A subtle approach acknowledging the past tragedy would have been nice: A memorial wall covered in photos and flowers, ala 9/11. (I think the Avengers did that). Or if that’s too much then a simple freakin’ bulletin board in the Daily planet with photos of lost co-workers. I don’t know, it’s just the little details that can make a give a movie a significant amount of depth.
All they needed was Clark to say he is going to college to learn to be a reporter, or show him taking a class or something, to allow me to understand a few years have gone by since.
So, let’s ignore who should play Lex and get to the real questions:
Should Lana be in the sequel, and who should play Jimmy Olsen?
Haven’t you heard? They made Jimmy into a chick. She was the one trapped in the rubble blubbering like a little girl for fat Morpheus not to leave her.
I’m sure Lana will be in the sequel and they’d better make her a hot red head.
Clark was able to forge government documents to get on the task force sent to investigate the unknown structure in the ice. I really don’t want to see him sitting journalist exams to convince people he is capable of reporting, that’s falling into Smallville TV territory (although this, the reconstruction of Metropolis and more could all happen within a montage). Lois knowing makes sense, she’ll be able to cover him if he screws up.
I wish they introduced a Kryptonian language in this movie, all the written text suggests they put some thought into it already.
Oh I 100% agree. I don’t wanna sit through Clark at College scenes either. But a nice little montage (similar to what happened at the end of Avengers) showing the rebuilding, him learning to be a reporter, etc etc, would have helped show me the passage of time has occured. Rather than Metropolis magically better.
Yeah, I was a little pissed off nobody spoke Kryptonian in the movie.
Another thought on the whole collateral damage issue…I think my problem was that he didn’t even TRY to really save the city. He was just so focused on attack mode that it felt off to me. If they had shown him at least TRYING to get the fight to unpopulated areas, and Zod just going out of his way to fuck up humans, then I would have accepted the neck snap at the end a little more, as well as not had the collateral damage issues I had in the first place.
