I’m going to go ahead and say it’s my favorite Superman movie, and I’m a huge fan of the original two with Reeve. I saw it twice opening weekend, once in 3D and once in IMAX 2D. Loved it both times. The part where he first puts the suit on and flies filled me with such an intense feeling of awesome I got goosebumps both times. I don’t get what the hell is up with Rotten Tomatoes these days- they seem to have been off the mark for a while now, at least in my subjective opinion.
Also, I fucking loved the part in the 3D World War Z trailer where people were being sucked out of the plane and into the theater! LOL
You know, these “haters” have all given legitimate reasons for not liking all/part of the film. You could at least try to make a argument why they are wrong rather just making troll posts. Mark Waid has voiced the same issues, are you going to spit in his face too?

just read the waid review. he seemed to basically like everything except the shit that doesnt really matter that much, collateral damage, and superman saving everyone while fighting just to emphasize how hard it is. he even got so lost in his nerd rage he tried to leave the theater after the end scene with zod before processing how clearly superman was upset by what happened.
i dont even see how collateral damage is an issue. he literally became superman like 2 days before zod and his crew arrived. he didnt spend years in deep meditation and training to master his powers and love humanity more then logically possible. not to mention like i already mentioned before, the plot point of superman dealing with collateral damage is not worth bothering with in the first film, especially when you can deal with it later as you grow with the character. not to mention outside of jesus ideals written in comic books, who the fuck actually thinks zod and his goons wouldnt have exploited that weakness to almost supermans death and inevitable dark realization that people will have to die if he is to save them from this threat. im sorry you need your hand held for a superman movie. i dont. i got the youth of superman being superman in man of steel and not really realizing how devastating a fight with him or threats against him can really be, and him just reacting how anyone would react without any bullshit hindsight we have from reading goody to shoes bullshit comics over the years with their save everyone even when it logically makes no sense bullshit.
its a shame no one left man of steel hoping for your desires of consquences for superman to be handled further in part 2. niggas just went right into cynic mode before giving it a chance to further explain itself. im personally happy to not see that 1950s superman is a great white powerful man with high morals who saves everyone miraculously and still defeats the bad guy, illogical played out nonsense. for real, if you gave mark waid a moment where superman is saving people while fighting, a line where he said i dont want to kill you zod please stop, and 10 seconds of recognizing he should take the fight somewhere else before turning around and realizing no one is following him because zod can still extract what he needs from superman from his cold dead body, then mark waid woulda gave it a 10/10. those points he didnt like because they werent there to me are irrelevant and relics of the past.

And to the point about Superman saving people- he does save a helicopter pilot in the Smallville fight. I loved the cinematography in that scene, the way he stands the dude up all quick and asks if he’s alright.
I can understand the desire to make a movie with mass appeal, but they don’t need to treat everyone like they have the attention span of a 6 year old (like the Transformers movies). On one hand I like the level of destruction displayed, it’s a moment in history where the entire world stood still and watched to godlike figures fight, makes sense. But failed to sell it for me, as it goes on it looses it fizz and just drags out for no apparent reason, Zod escapes whilst the others get sucked into the phantom zone for no apparent reason. I wish they took the same liberties cutting up the last third of the movie as they did the first (that felt more comic book than the rest). That kiss at the end was very comic like though, even how they shot the scene, but lol it was so inappropriate.
I got a copy of All Star movie, planning to watch it over the weekend.
@chadouken! I too grinned from ear to ear when Superman first manages to fly, it’s probably my favourite scene of the movie, then when Faora just starts butt kicking.
If a significant portion of a movie’s target audience is all taking issue against the same specific element of the movie, there is a problem. If General Motors puts out a car that gets into fatal accidents due to the same exact stress point over and over and over again, it’s time to stop blaming the driver and start looking at the design.
I am including myself in that significant portion, mind you.
