King of Fighters XIII is out on PS3 and 360!

Man you people aren’t kof fans. I’ve never heard of people not buying the game because it isn’t good even if the online is bad. So I guess everyone these days buys games with bad gameplay but with great online. MVC3 had neither and people bought that and MK9 did the same as well for their fanbase. The one time a company needs you to buy their game when it has good gameplay people won’t do it because of the netcode.

The netcode can still be patched and buying it gives them a better chance to improve their netcode as this company isn’t made of money like any other company that makes fighters. Yes it is your money but its still kinda sad that as niche as the KOF fanbase is here we finally get it on console and the netcode will drive people away. Oh well guess this is the end for ol snk.

R.I.P KOF sunrise1994, sunset 2011 :frowning:

No, I’m not a huge KOF fan, but I want to support the scene, yet I also care about my money as well.

And no, netcode cannot be patched well enough. If it’s bad at its core, it will never be good. Why should I give KOF a pass? Company obviously doesn’t need me if they won’t work their asses off on the netcode.

I have no use for a game I can’t play. What, am I supposed to play single player all day and smile like a jackass because it’s not a Capcom game?

So tell me, am I supposed to buy it when I have absolutely no way to play it? Am I just supposed to buy it and put it on my shelf and be happy because SNK can move on making more games I can’t play? Please, tell me what you want me to do all knowing guru.

So I take it you don’t go to EVO or any event’s like that then? Well long time ago there was no online and games were higher what did you do then? I was in that type of situation at that time and it wasn’t until I got in college that I was able to travel to where I could find competition. Either way its your money like I said that doesn’t make the situation any less sad. If people buying MK and mvc3 with sucky netcodes and questionable gameplay still buy and play their games, why can’t people still play kof with good mechanics and whatever netcode. I don’t have the answers but i’m sure if you wanted to you could travel to where there are people playing this game.

LOL raymk I’m not a ‘real’ KOF fan because I’m tired of being shit on as a consumer? I’m only being realistic. The best way for KOF to gain any kind of traction is through attracting people with a solid and feature complete game. The netcode is critical to its success because no one plays. If you can’t play the game and gain any kind of experience to gauge whether you like it, why would you buy it in the first place? If your only source of comp is online (most locations in the US have this problem) then what’s the point in spending $50 on it? The “go to majors and play offline” line only works for games people actually play in scenes lucky enough to have arcades etc. Why the fuck would I drive a few hundred miles and spend hundreds in expenses so i can play a game in which i’ve never played against a human?

I’m going to buy the game regardless whether it has a good netcode or not. 2k2UM also gets featured at a lot of tournaments dispite it’s terrible netcode. People can see how polished this game is in every single way, so for that reason alone i will be getting the game full priced. SNK has never really let me down except for 12 which was based on a hasty decision at the time so i understand, it never once affected my decision to buy it’s sequel.

Well, i can already play the game. A bad netcode is terrible yes, but in the long run it doesn’t affect me much with KOF players like Anakron that exist here. Good luck to everyone else.

Same here.
I however have to wait for the console version.

offline sessions > online play.

I will buy this game if it has a netcode compared to SSF4, if it has MK9 netcode-like I will not buy this game.

If I could travel, I wouldn’t give a rat’s ass about netcode, yes. What did I do before? I didn’t play fighters pretty much. Again, what’s the use for a FG if I have no one to play with properly? Why can’t people still buy it? People can buy it, it just won’t be me. If you wanna drive/fly me out to everywhere someone’s playing this, then I’ll consider it.

It’s not about the competitive scene folks, it’s about this game not bombing hard enough to murder the franchise - and most likely, SNK as well - for good.

Good netcode is a MUST.

Lol, IDC I know my Arcade is gonna have to add this to there tournaments sense there doing MK9 now too. But yea good netcode is key. SNK dont got money like that though, just pray its somewhat decent.

Other then that m just gonna by the game period because its Complete KOF. If you saying you dont want to get it though because of the netcode oh well. Remember console release also means its most likely still gonna be played at most of the major tournaments. (As in MK has shit netcode too but its still at tourneys also) So even if netcode is shit at least it got that going for it.

*BTW, for those who haven’t reallly got a taste of what KOF is like. Play some 98 or 2002 on GGPO. Got a few good USA players and those Mexican and Japan players will give you a crash course on how to play. *

Uh oh, I think this game got leaked… In the same way Blazblue CS got leaked…

Yep, that’s what i was saying before, but i didn’t want to be that direct because this is a very sensible topic on SRK…

The game did get leaked, but in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter. The only people who would download it would be the ones that don’t have access to the game otherwise.

It’s not going to hurt the sales of anything. Piracy never really does.

SF4 PC
Spore PC
GTA Sanandreas PC
Dreamcast
etc…

I agree with you & Saitsuofleaves. I skipped out on KOF XII entirely after hearing about how it was rushed along with the bad netcode, etc.

KOF XIII looks like a major improvement over KOF XII, & is what KOF XII should’ve been (& would’ve been) in the first place had SNK Playmore not rushed through development of that game trying to make a quick buck. Now, all they need to do is advertise it greatly, have good netcode, & they’ll be back in business.

SF4 PC was the 5th most downloaded game in public torrents on the PC, the second on consoles.
GTA San Andreas didn’t suffer that much piracy as any other title does. GTAIV came along after all.
Spore was about the DRM and hence the revolt of the PC crowd that led to various class action lawsuits which were won by the PC community.
Dreamcast still has games made for it even today.

Piracy on the consoles right now is about as high as the PC anyway as the latest numbers clearly show, especially after the hack of PS3 which made piracy so easy there, more easy than on PC.

I´m not a huge KOF fan and i bought KOF XII without any information on the netcode. For KOF XIII the netcode is the deal breaker if its good im buying it if not like mk im not getting it or selling it back.

I think everyone should check out these combo videos, they’re very good and show some kickass stuff-

This is the Takuma combo vid which is longer than the others.
Starts out with easy combos then goes onto more longer ones.

The combo’s aren’t even that difficult to perform. Can’t wait to spend time in training mode.

And oh yeah, fuck a rom.
