Good. Atlus & SNK should consider using GGPO or another good “Rollback” netcode like in Arcana Heart 3 & Blazblue (or something like Arc System Works netcode). SNK Playmore certainly cannot afford for this game to have terrible netcode like they had with KOF XII.
They should have revamped it completely.
I seriously think that this netcode will be garbage, proving that any fighting game not downloaded on Xlba/PSN will always be garbage. This is not good news, not good news at all, and I don’t think that there is a chance in hell that the netcode of this game will be good.
Hey, at least I get to save money…seriously, FGs are starting to burn a hole in my wallet…
Didn’t BlazBlue have excellent netcode though?
Unfortunately I’m also really concerned about how KOFXIII’s netcode is going to be, I really hope that they can pull something good off though. I’m not expecting to be able to play people in the US with lag free connections all the way from Australia, but at least let me play other Australians with little to no lag.
Allright, this game is now officialy fucking condemned… and i’m really sad right now for SNKP and Atlus.
If you don’t know what i’m talking about, just a tip: Type-X
Well, I’m sorry. >_>
This, Skullgirls, and 3SO are giving me reasons to drop a game that I dislike, so I can’t change my opinion for you.
I’m not saying change your opinion on that. I’m saying, don’t not care that the netcode is ass UNLESS you have a scene. If you have a scene, I’m not gonna hate. If you don’t, then it’s kind of stupid. How are you gonna play a game you love so much if you can’t even play with someone properly?
Skullgirls and 3SOE is fine, as we already know they’ll have good netcode (not to mention, 3SOE looks amazing all around, and Skullgirls is in good hands). But KOFXIII’s fate is still in the air.
is wrong that aside fro this, all i want from SNK is a TRUE SEQUEL to Card Fighters Clash on PSN and XBLA that doesnt use that shitty mana system from the DS game? hell ill take an uprezed version of CFC2:Expand Edition, just so i can do some card fighting online.
Also, still wish Tizoc was in this :(. DAAAAAAH!!!
For the people bitching, you got the game. What else do you want? Lets wait and see with the netcode. Can’t be any worse than MK or Marvel vs Casual 3 right? I’m still buying the game because I wanna support this series. This is the best KOF game since 98 and it deserves the support of the community because it already has an uphill battle trying to gain back old fans, get new ones and survive in a marketplace against garbage like Marvel 3 which is the worst thing to happen to fighting games in a long time.
searched on google and found nothing, could you explain better?
edit
could it be about what i just saw on chilecomparte?
edit 2
never mind that was really old news T_T
No, shitty netcode is the worst thing to happen to fighting games in a long time. I don’t give a shit if your game is the game of the century, I’m sick of making excuses for games and giving them passes just because it’s not “Enter X Game here”. People gave MvC3 a pass because it wasn’t SF4. People gave MK a pass because it isn’t a Capcom game. Guarantee people will give KOFXIII a pass because it isn’t any of the three previous games, and that’s bullshit.
With 3SOE and Skullgirls coming out, companies now have NO excuses. You either get it right or you don’t deserve money. KOF, Idc how good a game it is, its existence is meaningless to me, especially since the netcode is most likely horrid. I feel glad for those who do have a scene near them and can get support for the game, otherwise, whatever, another company only doing half the work. Nothing new and it’s annoying.
No one is giving SNK an excuse. Netcode is needed to survive in today’s marketplace and they need to know this. However, SNK doesn’t have the budget of Neitherealm or Capcom who absolutely refuse to fix their shitty netcodes and could care less what gamers have to say. Atlus brought this game out for fans and I know if we speak out, they will do something about it. Capcom continues to get a pass from the “get hype” crowd about netcode and Capcom responds by blowing a proverbial load all over fans faces. I’m supporting the game because KOF XIII is a diamond in a sea of turds. Its an actual fighting game that appeals to real fighting game fans instead of trying to be a cash grab appeal to the casual market (Marvel 3).
I’d be shitting on Capcom right with you…if they hadn’t pretty much done every single thing we asked of them in 3SOE. If anything, we should be thankful that those last couple Capcom FG’s were shit, because they put all their effort into an actual GOOD FG. They could’ve put every single feature they had in 3SOE in MvC3…but it would’ve been a waste because that game is awful.
Atlus brought it out for fans…and also to make money. What makes you think they’ll listen? Just because they said “We’ll listen”? Every company says that, very few actually do.
I believe the words I’m looking for are, I’ll believe it when I see it. I see this as SNK’s LAST chance (well, not them directly I guess as they aren’t publishing the game…so I guess KOF’s last chance? Okay, this whole situation is kinda weird…). I’m glad that they remember that they can make KOF a good game. Too bad it won’t mean shit to a lot of people if the netcode’s ass. KOF has no foothold in America consumer wise, it has followings in some places, but there’s no true foothold like other games have. They’re not gonna get it done just by showing up with a FG unfortunately, unless they put a crap ton of advertising in…for once.
Now KOF has a couple of things going for it. One, people are starting to get absolutely tired of Capcom games. The rebellion against MvC3 seems to have started, and AE is causing…problems. Two, they’re releasing in a dead zone for FGs, as I don’t believe any FG’s are getting released around the end of this year, so on that front they won’t have much competition. Those two things combined can get KOFXIII a GOOD backing. But they need to advertise. And with how the last three major FG’s went down, it needs a STELLAR netcode review (we know the core game’s good, it’s been out for a year…).
If it gets ALL OF THOSE down, literally the only thing that can hurt, is if 3S truly does revive with OE. If it revs and dies, KOFXIII can rise…but only if all of the above happen.
You are pretty close anyway. Now Atlus really needs to work on the Online code…
Well super marvel vs capcom 3 will revive that series again just like ssf4 did for the sf4 series. KOF isn’t even 60 bucks this time around so it should do a lot better with or without online being good.
If X-Factor isn’t completely removed, which it won’t be, that game will remain shit, so I doubt it.
If you watched the ReveLAtions stream, there was this mod named Crackpr0n(not sure if this exactly it). Chindogg kept on saying he was hoping for good online. Crack would reply that it was good. Chin surprised, asked how Crack knew. He replies that he’s played it and that he works for Atlus.
They did say that they were using the old netcode so despite his testimony, I am still rather doubtful.
The key to the games success is 1) Advertise and get the game out there. SNK hasn’t done a bad job actually. Having the game at Revolations and SCR/NCR last year was a good move. The game needs to be at EVO in some fashion as well. 2) Focus on getting older fans back. A lot of KOF fans abandoned the series after the disaster that was 12. This game however is a huge improvement. SNK needs to show these fans they listened and made a better game. 3) Yes, Netcode.
The backlash against MvC3 has been in full swing for quite a while and AE, with its Yun only bullshit, is getting bigger. Don’t expect to see a really good deep Capcom fighter again. Capcom have decided that fighting games that don’t have crutches like X-Factor and actually encourage players to get better at the game with skill doesn’t sell to the new casual market they are appealing too. (See SF X Tekken)
I totally agree with the “no good netcode = no buy” attitude. I’ll probably buy it used for about half price myself if the netcode turns out bad. It doesn’t even matter if the game is legitimately good and tourney worthy (it seems like 13 is, for what it’s worth). KOF has never had any momentum in the US and only a dedicated community can change that. The only reasonable way to do this is to give the few people left who give a shit a way to play without traveling hundreds of miles, and allow them to promote a local scene through events and what-not. The average fight man fan isn’t going to care if he can’t even access a decently large player-base.
Edit: MvC3 and SSF4AE aren’t going to hinder the popularity of KOF13. Whether a backlash against those games is happening isn’t important IMO. If people quit them there are 1027839528756 other games that can take their attention that aren’t supported by a fickle and bitchy niche.
I don’t expect a good deep fighter from ANY company again tbqh outside of Skullgirls which can be hit or miss (right now it seems hit…but we do only know 3 fighters…). If we want good fighting games, we look to the past, not the future. This is the way it will be from now on, and not just from Capcom.
