so then 98’ 2k2 best kofs imo dream matches both, every finished saga has his own dream match so if ash saga ends in 13 (hope so we r in it since kof 2k3) we r gonna get our dream match =D, and at last have a worth buy.

KOF 12 wasn’t KOF, didn’t feel like KOF. It had characters that vaguely resembled KOF Characters and a few of them were even neat enough to have 1 or 2 moves from the KOF crew they were impersonating. But that is about the long and short of it.

The netplay is better, but it’s still not very good. It’s like a 2-bar SF4 match.

The netplay did get better, but it depends who you are playing against too. For me I try to play just people on the westcoast so I can get a really good connection.

well even juiced up all the characters still looked good imo, im digging the new clark and ralph look, wish theyd do yanmzaki and oswald in this style. only character that bothered me was ryo, in the art gallery or whevever it was he had the longer sleaves and normal face, wish theyd use that one instead (looks far better).

I’m more the way the game “feels” no the way it looks, but they’ve really done some creepy changes to some chars in KOF XII, daimon for example, skinny joe loli athena lol, everyway people want clasic chars to come back I can’t imagine a decent KOF without some characters that in kof XII just didn’t appear just like mai, k’, choi, billy, they have been in the series a long way and just cut 'em out is just disgusting, i want to believe in KOF XIII, people here in my country still plays 2k2 ‘98 and XI those where nice kofs (maybe XI just no, some chars like gato just where so, so god tier =D). is so much to ask something like 2k2 or 98’ maybe a new dream match and I’ll be happy.
I’m fuckin’ all the way hype for this. The only reason I don’t play 12 is because no one else does, so I can’t find competition. If they just complete the game they released last year (with more stages, moves and characters) it has the potential to be one of the best games in the series. I just needs me some Vanessa and I’d like to see a '98 style Rekka-based Kyo thrown in the mix, as well, though I love his current form almost as much. Chang and Choi need to be back too.
The ammount of people that bash muscular Ralf and Clark or chubby Athena and try to explain it as “wrong proportions” (there’s nothing wrong with their proportions - go back to art class) or “not KOF style” or whatever… It’s really fucking retarded.
The whole theme of the game was changed to “Re-birth” and the sprites were changed accordingly (Ryo looks angry and has torn clothes like AOF 2 and 3 series, Athena looks short and chubby like in Athena and Psycho Soldier, Ralf and Clark went into soldier looks). But, more importantly, they finally had a chance to re-draw the sprites, and made it so they would be closer to their illustrations. *Since 2001 *the artwork for KOF has been “out there”. Nona is their senior artist (Hiroaki doesn’t even work for SNK, he’s a freelancer, remember). He was the KOF XII art director. Makes sense his style would be used along with the Re-birth theme. Nostalgic designs drawn in the current illustration style. Makes perfect sense.
Fatal Fury went through the same thing. It jumped in style in FF3, then even more in Real Bout series. Same for SS 2 to 3. Same for SF2 to 3.
But when it happens in KOF it’s the end of the world?
It’s like KOF fans want to hate everything. They complain the graphics don’t change, but when they do, fans say they wish SNK had kept the old graphics. I’ve even seen people complain the new animation is worse (!). Jesus Christ, just say the truth - *you want them to fail regardless of what they do.

Hopefully they go with 70s/Cyborg 009 Athena. Don’t know if they’d bother redrawing the sprite but it’s pretty much status quo with Athena.
That would be awesome, great retro anime style. Wonder if they’re going to redrawn Athena though, or if they prioritize adding as many new ones as possible. I’d prefer the later, even though it breaks tradition…

That critical counter system was just sloppy. Only thing good about that game was the graphics.
