Kibbles n' Bits: The Amaterasu Combo Thread

I honestly don’t see why you care that much, this was the least meaningful of Ammy’s nerfs since it was only relevant on bad combos or stuff that would’ve been made worthless by being able to cancel to air weapon change instead. j.:l:'s hitstun being reduced so that it doesn’t combo to Thunder Edge Stab is a waaaaay worse nerf than Glaive Chop not replacing your groundbounce, I actually used the instant overhead multiple times a game.

I don’t? Then again, my “y u do that capcom” question was rhetorical.

I also hate the paper hs nerf, as well as the fact that sometimes it just disappears when it touches an opponent who is air teching. Wtf is that?

But yeah, j.L is the worst by far. Then there’s wesker and zero who get significant buffs. Blah, let’s change the subject.

You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Pretty sure I do…It only doesn’t work on like twelve characters. If it doesn’t hit you’re put in a better position than, “oops i guess head charge L out?”. It’s harder to throw out randomly against the smaller to mid sized cast since you have to dash into them to get the overhead to connect, with proper setups you can have an easy 50/50 with very small commitment.

Please explain this setup, then

What i do is

(solar flare):m:+weasel shot, :h: xx glaive

Then after that depending on if they advancing guarded you out and/or you’re mid-screen you have to dash. If they are mashing advancing guard midscreen then you have to dash twice. Either way really you just dash up and decide to go high or low. The dash is covered and you have to do it anyways to get close to them again. Sometimes(I haven’t tested this out thoroughly) on the smaller characters if they’re pushblocking the assist a lot it’s harder to hit the overhead, but if you just wait and time your dash right you can get them right after the last hit of the assist. I’m not sure if they’re hotbox changes or if I’m just messing up the timing on the overhead after the dash.

Edit: Another setup I just remembered is (glaive) J.H + disruptor. You can dash in pretty safely and have a few options to beat button mashing since it’s not a tight blockstring. But regardless it does the job. Best in the corner.

I’m sorry. What I should’ve asked is, what are you using for an instant overhead?

… That is clearly not nearly as good as j.:l: j.:df::h: j.:d::d::l:, j.:h: j.:h: would be, though. Instant j.:m: is just significantly less effective than instant j.:l: and can’t be done from as far away.

So yes, I still miss it.

Well yeah, I was rooting for that when I heard of air stance change. That shit would be straight dumb and put ammy in undoubted top tier status. But seeing as she never actually had it I don’t consider it a factor.

Hey guys I just started playing Ammy, I need help on one of her combos because I keep whiffing it. Its combo two in the guide, which is:

Thunder Edge c.L, M, H xx QCF L, L, M, H xxx QCF L, s.M, S, j.M, j.M, S , df H OTG xx QCF S xx Okami Shuffle.

It seems like the the jump series is never early enough to connect after the s.M, S. Am I doing it to slow? I delay the first sequence as much as possible, and try to hit s.M late and then S as soon as possible. Is there any easier variation of this combo?

I delay the combo slightly so they fall a bit during the ground chain so I can hit them with the MMS in the air without whiffing.

HOWEVER, if you’ve seen that they are going to be too high up after the launcher for MMS to connect, do LLMMS instead. Her j.L hits above Ammy so she can “climb” up the opponent for the rest of the hits to connect.

I’m gonna sound like a scrub, but could you be more specific? I’m delaying the ground chain as much as possible and still can’t get the damn thing to connect. None of the other instrumental bnbs are giving me trouble, just this one.

Do your first section at the speed you’re normally doing it, then do the s.LMH chain slightly delayed and delay the second Thunder Edge a bit too. For the most part, this is only an issue midscreen.

Again, if you can’t get the air-chain to connect do LLMMS instead. It decreases what you get by 10k or so but it allows you to connect the entire combo. If I see that I’ve done the combo too fast, I do LLMMS in the air.

Lemme see it goes something like st.:l: :m: cr.:h: :qcf: :l: st.:m: :s: j. :m: :qcf: :h: fully charged j.:h: land :qcf: :l: fully charged st.:h: cr. :h: :qcf: :l: okami shuffle/lvl 3. I still struggle with a lot of the combo, the st.:m: after the glaive chop still gives me issues sometimes, but thankfully its probably the hardest part of the combo for me at the moment. Ill go check out vaxtins video on linking after the glaive chop to see if he has anything I can use.

And no, I wasn’t running that team at tory, my ammy is embarrassingly mediocre(especially considering how long I’ve been playing her for) so I stuck her in my secondary team(spencer/ammy/hawkeye) and I ran my primary team(trish/sentinel/akuma) at toryuken.

I recommend doing st. L S after the qcf L instead of st. M.
It keeps the opponent lower, so that you can get the j. M qcf H as low as possible, and it makes the timing for the fully charged j. H better, so that you land right after in time to do fully charged qcf L.
Sorry if that sounds confusing, but keeping the opponent low makes this combo cake imo, it takes away all the timing thats needed

Never even considered that, I just went with st.:m: because there would be less scaling on that. Very good point, ill start practicing that.

Just wondering, what are Amaterasu’s options off a clean hit with Vajira assist? I like DHCing from Dante to Amaterasu to Strider on my “main” team way more than I do going Dante - Strider - Ammy and would love to know if there’s some mileage to be gained from going with my desired team order that I might not be aware of for being so new to this game. I know about Strider with Cold Shots being absurd good already btw, not looking to hear about that yet again. :stuck_out_tongue:
