Kibbles n' Bits: The Amaterasu Combo Thread

I was able to record a working set-up last night but the opponent had to fall nearly to the ground before the charged thunder edge went off, but it was definitely a cross up. Oh yeah and it was only midscreen.

Hi guys, anyone here good with XF combos or something?

Like, a hit confirm into an XFC in the middle, yeah those things…

I need something that can ToD Wolverine with XF1, possibly not needing DHC?

I’ve been trying so far but ehhh

Actually, let me share so far what I have.

Basically my primary target is a Wolverine/Sentinel/Wesker team. The strategy I want to deploy is to basically disrupt the single-line layout of the team. As such I made an XF1 ToD for Felicia against Wolverine and Wesker, and an XF2 ToD for Amaterasu against Wolverine and Wesker.

What I have for Ammy XF2:

(glaive)c.:l:->c.:m:->c.:h:->Thunder Edge :l:->XFC (L2) -> wait (lol) -> s.:h:->Thunder Edge :l: -> s.:h:->Thunder Edge :l: -> c.:h: -> Thunder Edge :l: -> S xx sjf -> wait -> Head Charge H -> j.[:h:] -> wait <-> land -> Thunder Edge [:l:] -> f.:h::h::h::h: -> dash -> f.:h::h::h::h: -> S

Deals 1m damage, + 1.75 meter. Looks like I can’t link an Okami Shuffle anywhere unless I cut this short but get the same result

It’s difficult because the timing of the Head Charge to charged H is super wonky if you’re used to the no XF timing

For XF1, I only have this one that deals only around 850k (?) alone

(glaive)c.:l:->c.:m:->c.:h:->Thunder Edge :l:->XFC (L2) -> wait (lol) -> s.:h:->Thunder Edge :l: -> s.:h:->Thunder Edge :l: -> c.:h: -> Thunder Edge :l: -> S -> j.:m: -> j.:m: -> j.:s: -> Edge Stab -> Glaive Chop -> Okami Shuffle

DHCing after is the only time this will deal 1m+ damage (Dancing Flash allows it to 1m at least, but barely) but make it meter negative

Any thoughts? I’ve only had an hour to mingle around with this game again so ehhh. I’m not even confident that I can pull the XF2 one off consistently

umm i don’t know if this has been cover or even if i just need better execution;

i can’t seem to get 5b 5c 3c 236a 5b in glaive to connect on viper it so weird the last 5b whiffs and i can do it on other chars

s.:m: s.:h: c.:h: :qcf:+:l: s.:m: [if you don’t like the other notations]

oh wow ok… i’ll have to double check whether thunder edge can go behind the opponent in the corner or not. if it can’t go into the corner, it may be a crossup when the opponent is almost fully in the screen from falling in, and hitting from under.

if the mixup works midscreen, then it should be a good followup to killing the previous char with lv3…

try s.LMH qcf L after the 1st cr.H qcf L. s.M after qcf L is iffy on some characters especially midscreen.

Edit oops sorry I’m typing on an iPod ATM ill fix it later but my post is in the second quote.

hmm, i still need to look into it more. i got a friend in training room to try and block it for me some time ago to figure out the setup but i don’t think it’s robust – not sure about timing, vale of mist on/off, etc. maybe not very effective after all, i don’t want ammy to get xfc grabbed or trade hits =/

Hey so after playing ammy for the better part of a year, I **finally **got the head charge to connect in the glaive combo. Now Im stuck on the part after you hit them with the head charge and the fully charged j.:h:, the full charge :qcf: :l: just doesn’t come out quick enough to combo. Now id rather not have to wait till 2013 before I get this part of the combo down, so please, any and all assistance is welcome.

when you charge j.H, you want to wait a tiny bit so that when you’re done with charged j.H, you’re close enough to the ground. but wait too long and charged j.H will fail to come out.

Aight, ill see if I can get that sweet spot. Goddamit, it really shouldn’t take me this long to get a combo.

Hey guys, only been using Ammy for a couple weeks, so I’m pretty new to glaive combos. I was watching Chris G play with his new team (Ammy/Morrigan/Phoenix) and he had an interesting combo using Phoenix’s TK Overdrive assist. It goes something like this:

cr.:m: > f.:h::h::h::h: > glaive switch > :m: > launch > sj.:m::m: > qcf.:h: > charge :h: > land, dash > f.:h::h::h::h: > Phoenix assist > f.:h::h::h::h: > launch > super

He does it here at 23:40:

I’ve been trying to replicate it in training mode using Hawkeye’s triple arrow, but haven’t been able to. It seems like the hitstun on arrows isn’t enough, and they pop out before I get the last f.HHHH.

Does anybody know a similar variation I could try using Hawkeye assist? Again, I’m very new to glaive, so I’m short on ideas…

This is probably a stupid question, but sometimes okami shuffle doesn’t come out right after launcher. The input is correct, but I’m guessing my timing is incorrect. Any tips for what’s ‘just right’ ?

Are you sure you’re inputting it as 2369 (QCF->u.F) and not the normal 236 (QCF) ? You have to TK the motion because that’s the only way you can cancel a launcher into anything else

It depends on how fast the input is. Because Okami Shuffle is not an instant super, the opponent will fly up a few frames regardless. It’s not instant like Phoenix Wright’s Lv.3 Hyper.

Oops… you’re totally right. I haven’t been tiger kneeing. Thanks!

I cant get the forward heavy x 4 to hit after the charged air heavy. i didnt know that even worked.

You have to land the j.M->Head Charge H->j.[H] low enough so that the j.[H] executes at the lowest height possible. After that, you have to execute Thunder Edge L at the soonest frame possible after landing.

Also, f.HHHH->launch only works in the corner AND if the first hit of f.HHHH has the opponent high enough. This is why you have to do everything at basically the fastest speed humanly possible.

EDIT: wait what the crap there should be only 1 j.M and not 2

It doesn’t matter if there is one or two j.Ms to be honest, you just have to delay the charged heavy.

so if I delay the charged heavy, and do thunder edge super fast, the forward heavy x 4 should connect? ill practice this.

There’s no charged thunder edge L in this combo. He’s not doing the standard thing.
