Actually I don’t think that Rex was attempting to reference us complaining about playing on console at all.
He may be remembering that when we played at that ghetto arcade in STL when Ami and Jake were there and the 1st player side I believe was FUBAR’d and yet we kept playing even though they had the only working side.
Then there was the time at Gunthers in Columbia when shit didn’t work and the “tech” tried using Akuma to say that everything worked. Didn’t we end up throwing our tokens through the door after leaving? Or was that just what we wished we had done? That was the same time we (STL and myself) got soaked by trying to walk to the university.
We also had an issue with the controller up in Omaha one time, that was acknowledged and fixed. They cut the side out of the cabinet if I recall correctly.
Oh and didn’t we have an issue with the sticks at FF Oak Park Mall being fucked one time so we took everyone over to Metro North for a tourney as our backup?
The point is I guess that when you insist upon things being in perfect working order so that everything is equitable and everyone can have the same delight in knowing that they are playing on a working side, you garner a reputation for gear whining.
Never mind the fact that when sticks have been good, we never complain at losing because of the stick. It is recognized that we fucked up and someone else capitalized upon this.
You say you insist upon things being perfect, which console is, but thats still not good enough? You guys are still stuck in the past yo, we could care less about our old wins and loses, lately stl has been placing in tournys, with nick winning, so KC realy hasnt been near the forefront of our mind, nor your wins/loses on broken machines.

Those two lines weren’t intended to be run together. But I see how they were construed that way.
The “Selective memory much” line was just a one liner about the alleged gear whining. As we’ve never done so during a tournament. It’s the very reason we show up early enough to test the sticks out, if they did’t work, we’d not play in the tournament.
The point of my post was to stop people from trying to convince us that Consoles are better and that somehow we need to migrate over to that.
Rex, IT DOES NOT MATTER that consoles are “perfect.” PERFECTION and good sticks aren’t the issue there. It’s the gaming experience, comfort level, and yes the fact that the sticks move does play a small part in that (but it is not by far the only part.) Nor does it matter that it’s somehow the new “in” thing. I don’t recall the last time I’ve EVER cared about the most recent “in” thing.
Basically I’m sick of people’s holier than thou attitude with regard to a personal preference of arcade vs console. I don’t care that some of you all want to play on console, why do you care that we like to play on arcade and NOT console?
Also when in casual we did complain about the sticks… EVERY single one of you there also acknowledged the sticks didn’t work. And people were all about switching sides after every win. EVERYBODY.

I’m thinking about Amtraking that shit down. It’s actually cheaper to go by train than it is to fill up on gas twice if we went by car. All I need is one of those monitor attachments for my PS2 for casual matches on the train and we’re good to go.
I play everyone :). If you can get on the PSN, I could show you. I’m not trying to sound conceited or anything, but I really am top-tier with all. Mileena is my main.
It would be cheaper though if I paid for half the gas and we rode together Drew. That way it would be about 40 bucks a piece.
Ok, I have only seen you flounder in an attempt to bring an assist character on screen in MvC2, but it is possible that you have skills in MK. However, I need to inquire as to what makes you claim top tier in MKII. Who have you played, wins, tourneys, etc…
I only inquire because of two things.
A. The very idea is laughable in the extreme that you have beaten anyone in a fighting game besides your neighbors dog.
B. Rex is actually well rounded in every single fucking fighting video game that involves combat between two opponents.
I figured Insom or Green Trench Coat would have that thread covered by now.
And if you really want to drive to STL Cable, that’s cool with me. Considering that the tourney won’t be until December at the earliest, we should have more than enough time to budget for this event. Besides, I don’t feel like paying four bucks for a can of Bud on the train anyway.
You can focus on winning if you want to, I just want to get out of KC and have a beer or seventeen with some out of town gamers (maybe a chick or two if i’m lucky)
You’re right, I’m not that great at Marvel. I haven’t played Marvel that long and I actually haven’t played for quite awhile. That is just one game though. I damn good at Mortal Kombat II. I have beaten people such as Nuob and Dragula pretty badly. These are just a couple good MKII players. And BTW, why do you have to be so rude and insulting when you make statements like that? It’s sad to make fun of someone’s Marvel skills when it is something they play every few months at the arcade. If I had been playing for five years and sucked at Marvel, it would be different. If you would like to play me a game other than Marvel, we could see what would happen.
Yes, I play GGXX. I have no reason to play KI2. What else you got? Like I said though, he didn’t have to be so rude. If you would like to see my MKII skills, I will gladly show you.
I don’t doubt your skills at MKII, although because I know Rex I’d put my money there. The thing is (and obviously I don’t know your gaming experience with this) unless you’ve traveled and played a multitude of people in any game it doesn’t matter how good you think you are. We learned this back in 2001 when we thought we were good at MvC2 and went to Chicago and got owned. That was a defining moment for us (there were four of us at the time) because two of us (Chaz and I) continued to play and got better to where we could hang with the real good people, and one (my best friend) stopped playing with any level of seriousness, and the other one (Chaz’s best friend) stopped playing all together.
As for GGXX, I openly admit my suckage there, but if you are somewhat decent at it I wouldn’t mind playing you, preferably in either the Slash or Accent Core versions.
