umm, i dunno where to start now. ok vicious.
i draw out of sheer leisure, basically outta boredum, and slightly practice. most times i’ll have art block and go to ryu or kando as a default for no reason, i know it’s repetitve, which is why i never toot my horn to begin with. cuz i’m a lazy bum. i’ll try to mix it up a bit cuz i see where you’re going.
fistoftheryustar - thanks for noticing. i thought the eye looked strangely grey so i just darkened to its original for again. one of akimans favorite artists was gustav klimt. i sorta kept that in mind when i was working on it. stayed subtle, and abused grey tones.
mcginnis - umm, painter’s cool and all, but i’d say about 85-90% of the time i used photoshop. painter’s more of an artist simulator whereas photoshop is straight-forward and a standard program. PS is just all-around best bet. painter taught me how to manage my colors though, ALOT better than photoshop. i’ll get into a bit later. as for brushes, on the lower ryu, was just hard round with changes in spacing LOL. something i learned from arnold tsang. spacing’s really important in ps…

diavle - i completely agree with what you mean. it’s been one of those things i had to think about for awhile like, do i wanna be known as the guy who draws like akiman or nishimura? of course they are great but to make this short, no. i do not plan on drawing like this forever. i just find it fun to recreate for personal reasons. i’ll put up more of my type stuff.

Cool, kinda figured you use PS. Seems like most if not all of SRK artist use it as their primary. I’ll probably end up with that as well depending on my preference but so far no one has really given me too many tips in corel. Thanks for the input. I may just have to start using my Dev account to bug people with questions.

part of why im partial to the approach is bc i myself like to model the artwork after the original artist’s style if it seems like a difficult one to try. i dont think any artist is TRYing to live in another’s shadow though.

I am drawing a picture of Ryu too. Who doesn’t like drawing a picture of Ryu? It’s like a grilled cheese, he’s a classic.

Dope magus man. The dots are really distracting though. I would get rid of them over the BG. Dudz looking cool as well. I like the purple on the gloves, but I think you need more of it in other areas. Watch out for tangents too. You got a little going on with the right glove and shoulder, and left glove and face.
