If people can just accept that delay/lag on kaillera public server is unavoidable and should just treat whatever game they play as a different game, then I think the overall attitude would be a little more positive.

If there are consequences for being a jack ass on kaillera like a regular arcade, ie) If player A can do something about player B for saying disrespecting dumb shit, then kaillera would be a much better place. Sore losers would at least make an effort to stfu.
It’d be nice to also get as much new blood as possible. And lets stop with the noob haiting, them noobs will get better, so long as they understand why they arnt doing something proper in the first place

Pretty much. Juggling someone for 80 hits is just as boring as watching it, so if they can end shit faster, they will.
Problem is, these “other” games suck ass. Street Fighter 2 never would’ve taken off if it played the way it does online.
It just isn’t fun once you get past a certain level. Any value I ever placed on online play is long gone and I’ve pretty much quit kaillera completely (outside of rare LB2 games when I’m exceptionally bored), which is why the announcement of CPS3 decryption is only bittersweet for me. If I do play it, it’ll only be on LAN, and only with friends in private servers.
It’s just ‘too’ different online. Playing A3 online for the first time is like finding out your girlfriend has a dick.

We know that the games are old, who gives a shit, people still like it. There are more people asking wtf is kaillera and how to get into playing people and having a good time then you are even giving credit for.

Ok well thanks for tha thelp. One of the things I’ve found on this kaillera part of srk was a thread called, “The definitive guide to ZSNES online” by “fatherbrain”. After reading threw it and loooking at the pictures drawn out, theres no way in hell I wouldnt know about how to connect and actually play onz-battle after that.
Something like that for say Mame.32k would be really helpful, Things like that actually help people who dont have the slightest clue as to what there doing with z-battle or how to connect it.
I’ll try to get work done on something like that, It’d be really great if we could get more things like this in the work for say jnes, cyber pad project64 and other emulators that people are intrestedin getting and want to use on kaillera.

The community for this kind of crap will always be small, because emulation is by its very nature an underground thing. Yes, almost everyone’s doing it these days, but it’s especially difficult with MAME, because it’s such a specific version, and it isn’t readily available. Even then, once people get online, they realize that it runs like ass. I remember being turned off by the huge amount of delay when I first got on, but I was so hyped for online play of any kind that I sort of grit my teeth and slogged on ahead. Over the years, my views got a little warped, I got way too used to the delay and I started to believe that this shit actually meant anything.
I have no interest in saving this crap frankly. Something better than kaillera needs to come along. You need a straight player to player connection for it to be playable at any kind of serious level.
Information alone isn’t going to save it anyway. There are too many other factors that just kill it. A lousy community, corrupt, childish admins, and again, the massive delay. Most of the people who do get online with MAME are more interested in playing Smash or beat-em-ups than 2D fighters, and when they see that there isn’t really a community for that sort of thing, they just stop coming on altogether. It doesn’t help that the SF scene is situated mostly in the west coast (California), and there are no real prominent WC servers around.
Which brings me to another point, the 2D fighting scene itself is dying out, so why are you surprised that the kaillera one is? Most people don’t understand the genre to begin with, and it doesn’t help that the number of new 2D fighting games is exceedingly low.
You said you want to get people like DGV and Ryu1999 and whatnot to advertise it, well most of the good players I’ve met either don’t take kaillera seriously, or refuse to play in public servers anymore. Also, I believe I’m more than qualified to speak when it comes to games like A3 and LB2, and I can tell you that a win or a loss on here means very little. There are times when you can tell that one person is clearly better than the other, but if the skill levels are even close to being similar, then it’s just not a good or even mediocre gauge of skill. That, plus the fact that character match-ups are completely different online.
Like it or not, the nature of kaillera itself is relevant to the issue, because you need to know what it is that you’re trying to salvage here.
