godweapon works great for me, more so than any other server, i can’t tolerate playing in any other server, now that gw is temporarily down for a bit i don’t even play on kaillera, no point.
Truth
Some games work better online then others. Generally, the less frame-dependent a game is, the better it will be. This is why Samurai players are happier online then say, Vampire players.
well the timing for most moves and links is almost the same.
it just feels weird because its coming out slower then you interpret it to be.
I couldnt do charlie’s V ism til I just followed with my fingers rather then my eyes.
Tk can only say arcade perfect cuz he never felt what a serious match at the arcade is like.
And yes back when i was using keyboard it felt oh so great compared to now when i use stick or pad its fucking horrible. Its not soo much the kaillera client, its the god damn emulator. Mame is horrible period with all its high res activity going on, its also fucking up gameplay. I’ve found lil emulators like Final Burn alpha ( old school emu EVERYONe use 2 play on) to run well online with no button delay at all.
Online play isnt top quality but to me, i’ve learned massive shit from playing online and was able 2 even further my abilities offline, WHICH makes me a beast at arcades 9 outta 10 times.
So online can be taken serious as far as learning goes, but gameplay wise, it would depend whether u played more online than off.
Now as far as lag tatics go…
I’ve seen the way a3 players play on kaillera, which looks horrible to offline play. Do you honestly think just standing there throwing a lp out every 1/2 a sec is going to work in a match? What the fuck is that a lag tatic? Educate me on that because i dont understand. I just know online if i jump im doomed, but offline i could go for overheads all i want.
err… if you jump offline youd get anti aired to death.
its online that makes jumping more safe because you have to predict a bit further.
offline you have the same reaction but your inputs would come out faster.
i didnt phrase that right at all.
Crossups i meant, when i crossup online its just like mad slow so i see why i am gettin anti aired. I play alpha3 offline religiously, can inf and the whole 9 yards, but i mean just online, things happen that never happen offline. And i have played some crazy alpha players including the rapist. And not once have i gotten aired out with a LP, u see what im saying? i could just jump and hold back and LP airs me out, so would that be considered a lag tatic?
I have no clue what you’re saying. Anti-airs with stand LP?
if people can anti air you out of a crossup online that means they are better then the competition you have offline.
because they too most likely have the same delay as you.
st,jab isnt a lag tactic its a normally used anti air.
What’s funny about a3 is that people don’t know that jumping can be highly encouraged. And i’m not talking jump attack, i’m talking jumping in general. Especially when you have 100% V meter, you can just jump till your character’s legs get tired.
Online AND Offline.
Cause you can v-drop in bypassing someone’s anti air defense.
But you RARELY see someone doing v-drop ins on kaillera, so they’re straight using jump spam as abuse.
What’s really the problem is when somebody’s A-Ryu thinks they can jump in all day on someone’s V-Charlie.
WTF is that? obvious abuse of lag and delay if I ever saw it. V-Ryu vs V-Charlie would be a different game entirely. Will he activate?
You don’t know. But even still, that metagame is destroyed entirely when you play on kaillera, atleast in the public servers. Because your weapons don’t come when you want them to. You never know if the delay is enough to get you kicked in the face, or have you use your stuff too early and screw up. That random variable is always present when playing online, and even moreso in a public server.
Ask Kyokuji about the V-Charlie vs V-Cody crazy ass metagame we had. There were times where we DID NOT use our meter, that way we could just jump around all day long. You never know when someone is going to unleash and close out the round, so you gotta keep your meter to counter it.
Most metagames in general go out the window when playing on kal in those public servers because the lag and delay keeps things at too high of an uncertainty. What makes a metagame work is when you totally respect your opponents ability and fighter, to the point of being completely aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
Playing in those public servers takes that all away. It pretty much comes down to who can get their moves out the most or the best in the lag, and who’s good with doing combos in the lag/delay.
well actually there are a quite a few of us who do that on kaillera.
well I can think of 3 anyways. besides me and you 2
Whats a metagame?
Predicting how the opponent would make some decisions based on how they have made previous situations…I don’t really see how this gets tossed out the window though.
I really like how all I see is some niggas in this thread putting down scrubs on kaillera like they are above every one so much that they dont need to wast itme with them. If you dont wanna play them dont fucking play them,
This thread isnt here ot talk your stupid shit about whats so bad about shitty players on kaillera. live with it
address the real issue, if you got some shit to say to help the community then say it, stop bitching start helping nuff said gg~RENAGADE OUT
That’s not all of it, and you know it.
It’s a game within a game. It’s almost like an unwritten rule of how people decide they want to play their match. And is often times based on a mutual respect between the player’s abilities. Not just based on characters chosen. And it’s also a style of play everyone decides to adapt to and use as their own.
i.e. A3 majority decides to select Gief. The metagame going on here has the counter of everyone picking A-Gen, V-Sodom, V-Sagat, etc. but no one selecting someone like Chun.
Notice how when we played in kof, or whenever you were to play against Walchuk, we could control the pace of the match, having you play somewhat similar to how we were? Like his Kula or like my Leona. The way those Mexicans play kof is a metagame, and the way the Japanese play is a metagame. That’s why Choi was good in Japan but not in Mexico.
Another example, i’ll use a3 again since this is kinda what the discussion started on. Watch some A-cho matches, notice how they go for resets instead of just finishing the match off with the CC inf? That’s another metagame. They could go for the sure thing and just take the opponent out, but instead they go for the reset that allows them to redo the CC to start the damage scaling over again(making the round end sooner), but it also builds the meter back faster, and it gives the opponent a chance to blow their meter trying to defend against the reset. Should the opponent use their weapons to try and get out of the reset? or should they just let it go cause in normal circumstances the round wouldve been over anyway?
^everyone was doing resets instead of completing the series outright. That’s the metagame.
But playing online the abilities are never consistent because the timing is always changing, so everything and everyone, become unreliable. So you can almost just play however you want, betting on the frequent and random chances someone screws up something they normally don’t. It then doesn’t just become about doing something someone can’t stop because of them just being unable to. It’s now about you not even being able to consistently do that, and them not even knowing that what they’re doing could be stopped but the counter is never attempted because it’s presented as too unreliable in those playing conditions.
Don’t listen to this guy. He’s crazy :looney::lovin:
I still am baffeld at how far this thread has deraild its self…
I don’t get why you’d bother not finishing the infinite. A round is worth more then meter. Always been taught any chance you get to finish a round, you take it.
Assuming you can perform the infinite for hundreds of hits…I’m not really a fan of combo resetting unless I know I can do the infinite…like if I’m Angel and I got them in an infinite situation, I know for sure I’m not going to do that Angel infinite past 2-3 reps.
Because if you didn’t have the meter in the next round, you can just about kiss that following round goodbye. Opponent could do whatever the hell they wanted to, cause you wouldn’t be able to defend yourself. And in that round they could reset you, and you won’t be able to stop it, because you didn’t have the meter to counter it. So they’d end up winning the round and having their meter back again like nothing happened.
EDIT: Sorry Shiro, i’ll stop derailing and just leave.
