Justin Wong should not have been on Team USA

All in all dude, you need to get the fuck over it. I’m not too big on watching tournament streams as I used to be but to act like Justin has not repeatedly proven he’s strong enough to be apart of the team is asinine. Sure maybe he didn’t do too hot this time around but you know; at tournaments **shit happens. **It’s unreasonable to expect him to not have off-days where things just aren’t going too hot. You live and you learn (well hopefully this), and you keep it steppin’ until the next tournament rolls around.

Ask yourself this and be honest: Before the tournament and all this happened for you to cry foul, would you have objected to a practical shoe-in like Justin Wong being announced for the 5v5?

At the end of the day Justin OCV’d Team Canada and Floe beat Kazunoko. It’s ridiculous to say either of them underperformed.

Justin is cool shit,
He’s fuxking solid.

People talk shit, but i’d like to see anyone else do better against the best.

On one hand, Justin Wong has been playing pretty bad in tourneys, dropping his credibility in AE and not getting top 8 as much as he used to. On the other he might have been one of the few Rufus players to stick and to prove that even Rufus being hit so hard with nerfs in AE, he can still play so well. Maybe its one of those days that conditions and mindgames are not in his favour and he performed poorly. Everyone has it, even Daigo, Latif, and many Pro players. Reaching that level in the SF world may take a lot of time and patience and a lack of the result on their training IS NOT A SIGN THAT HE SUCKS. Never judege a book by its cover… unless it be Twilight… ugh…

Sucks Justin dropped those combos. I wouldn’t be surprised if his stick was set to digital. Tough break.

Justin’s amazing footsies and reads did way more damage than his dropped ultra combos. He beat Canada by himself and did work in other sets too. He swept Sagat’s st.HK almost literally every time any of the Japanese Sagats touched that button. It was crazy.

But let’s be real. Nobody was going to beat Kazunoko that day. Floe managed it once and Japan got bailed out by Kindevu, but they weren’t going to do it again if they reset the bracket.

Honestly, no. The Monday morning quarterbacking accusation that has already been leveled at me is accurate. Do I think Wong should have been captain? No. The best AE player in the country right now is either Wolfkrone or Latif. Since Latif wasn’t there, it should have fallen to Krone.

My problem with Justin is that he over-promised and under-delivered. You don’t talk a big game when you don’t even play it, and if you do, you don’t drop the soap. In hindsight, Ricky Ortiz should have been the American Rufus on that team. Maybe the results would have been the same, but I’d rather go out with an SFIV player on the team and not a Marvel player who plays AE because he can get away with placing top 8 without taking the game seriously.

Being Captain doesn’t necesarily mean being the best player on the team. It’s about leadership and having experience and being able to rally the troops together. Wolfkrone just turned 21 I think. Also I don’t think he has played outside of the United States before. There are certain players that have that leadership quality about them which comes with experience. Alex Valle, John Choi, Justin Wong are some examples. Wolfkrone is probably the best player, but I don’t think he’d make the best Captain.

As far as Justin not playing AE, I dunno about that. He practiced a lot in preparation for the tournament. His twitter was going bonkers over it. The team tourney was the big thing for Canada Cup and not MvC3. Justin knew this and put a lot of work into it. I don’t think he practiced MvC3 for this tourney at all. He may not have gotten as far as he wanted in AE, but he’s only human.

This is obviously the best thread ever. Before the fighting game community did a really good job of antagonizing random people by beating them so hard they would want to touch the games. Now the fighting game community has been invaded by those people to destroy it from the inside out with shitty threads.

Its like revenge of the tards, now that most people have lost arcades, they are zerg rushing the SHIT out of this online forum. How much more stupid can come to SRK before it implodes? Let’s find out!

He has a Dinobot avatar. He’s A-OK in my book

BEAST WARS!

justin my not train at ae all day for different reasons but he is still one of the best and a easy pick to be on the 5v5

Bring back RepGroove

Fun fact a lot of people don’t really like SF4 and only play it because it has a large player base. Ive seen Jwong in a few interviews say he rather play Marvel and MK over SF4 and he only plays SF4 a bit before a tourney or if a fiend specifically asks to play the game with him.

My name is Commander Uberpard,

and this is my favorite topic on srk.

You can’t focus it when it’s done as a reversal which was the case about 99% of the time.

Wolfkrone was beast, because he was MCZ MRN Wolfkrone!

So…who the fuck is this Justin Wong? Wasn’t the code you put into Metroid to take Samus’ pants off?

I going to let this Skill old Scrub rant thread to explain everything wrong with this topic.

How are you gonna play like Bustin Bongs ain’t one of the top 5 players in the U.S. He had an off night, it happens. If anyone were putting a U.S.A. 5 person dream team, Justin would be a safer be than most other players.

You want to know why everyone think SRK is unwelcoming to new members? Because every few weeks there is some new idiot that comes in here and decides to preach his asinine opinions, Then gets proven wrong, and still continues on. So we flame the shit out of him, and of course make us look like a bunch of assholes.

Fivec just happens to be that guy.

There are more things that go into being on a 5v5 then just skill of the game. Such as side line coaching, supporting, strategizing pre match. Justin provides all three of that. The guy doesn’t get pick for 5v5 for 10+ years across 5-6 different games for no reason. Can you named me another U.S player at Canada Cup that could have done that? The closest thing we have was Ricky, but which we already know also plays Rufus.

What the fuck did you want the U.S team to do? Jump Lapchi (SP?) and force him to change the rules half way into the tournament? Did you not forget that it was Lapchi that invited Justin to be leader of the U.S? That’s an honor, and when someone gives you that title you take it, and do your best which Justin did.

It was also Justin that assemble a team that got 2nd place among 2 European teams, 2 Japanese teams, 1 Canadian team, 1 Singaporean team, and 1 Korean team. That isn’t enough for you?

Justin only made one mistake in the 5v5, and that was he went 4th, and not 5th. He let it end up being a Viper VS. Viper mirror, and we all know how mirror matches go.

If he would of went last (assuming things happened the same as they did) we would of had Rufus vs Viper for a set to reset. Which I think Justin would of had plenty of confidence in knowing that he beat Latiff at Devastation.

As for him not deserving of being on the team, because of skill is laughable. Just the other week he went 3-2 at Season Beatings in the 5v5 (or was it 2-3)?

P.S U.S also made of the smartest move I have ever seen in a 5v5 to draw out Kazunoko 2nd allowing all 5 members to have a shot at him. Props to whoever figured that out.

I had a coherent take on this subject, but then I saw Tweleve’s av on the previous page. Now I’m just bitter that there’s no gdlk halal stand in my neighborhood.
