Can you FADC 2nd HP rekka into another Cr, Mk Hp Rekka? or something similar?
Ive seen HP rekka 2nd hit FADC to a lot of stuff. A LOT. Im gonna try it like 4 diffrent thigns today
someone said earlier that they could rekkax2 fadc hp rekkax2 fadc hp rekkax3
Yeah I did HP xx Rekkas xx FADC, HP xx Rekkas xx FADC, HP xx Rekkas and someone yelled “DAMN DID YOU SEE THAT INFINITE!?”
The rolling kick super had invincibility frames in 3s. Was just throwable, for some reason.
Yang’s damage output has always been pretty low-ish… but I think his game now is going to revolve around the c.jab->c.forward xx senkyutai for the oki that comes after it. The slashes in this game are kind of strange, the other guy seems to get up way too fast to get any sort of decent follow up going.
I’d say most yangs are going to do rolling kicks until they’re past mid-screen, then slashes the next combo they get to send them into the corner.
I’d also say Yun is definitely better than Yang.
I just tried out Yang for the first time a couple of days ago at FFA. I only won twice but it was a good learning experience for Yang. I am really liking him so far. One thing that threw off my game for a while was that the inputs to dash and roll were flipped around so I was rolling when I wanted to dash and vice versa.
I’ve been at my arcade for well on a good 36-40 hours total now since release (God bless annual leave :D), in addition to about five years of 3S with him, so you can say that I’m pretty well adjusted to his lower damage. I probably have close to 100 or so games with him by now (many of which are losses, but this is to be expected during the learning process). Yang is not a burst damage character like Yun or Rufus, never has been. The thing is - yes, Yang’s combos do about 200 damage, BUT you can get that 200 damage off of nigh on anything that Yang can touch someone with. When you consider that most people in the game have 1000 or less HP, all it takes is a couple of mantis combos, pokes and throws to get the life lead, and Yang doesn’t have to work very hard to get corner pressure going either. Trust me, it becomes MUCH easier to KO someone with Yang when you stop using Jab combos to punish someone. Because Yang’s ground game is much safer, he can bait things easier than Yun can, so I find he gets more opportunities to punish.
Maybe I need to play Yun a bit more and get a clearer picture about why everybody is going crazy about him. Yes, c.MP -> S.MP xx EX Upkicks -> Lunge Punch is easy, but he actually feels much harder to win with than Yang to me. My arcade actually has it’s damage settings turned down, too - and I’m still not sensing any difficulty.
Perhaps it may Yun maybe technically “better”, but I connect with Yang betterinstead. Who knows. If there is any gap between the two, then I don’t think it’s particularly large, if even apparent to me.
I think right now there’s a big difference because yun can connect just about anything to his target combo, supposedly has more reach on his command grab (along with more obvious places to use it). Ive heard his dive kick is better and it seems that shoulder tackles can be hard to deal with at first, just as much as random slashes will probably be a pain…as it goes along, people will learn to block a bit better against yun and the difference won’t be as bad
I haven’t noticed any difference on command grab range, tbh. Random tackles are annoying, but Yun cannot juggle off of them unless he’s near the corner, IIRC. I’ve heard about people saying Yun’s dive kicks are better - maybe there are some slight differences, but I’m finding both of the twins very easy to dive kick and get in with. Yun’s felt like they maybe SLIGHTLY, slightly faster, but he needs that because he’s in the air more often. Yang still combos into anything he needs off of a properly-aimed dive kick, and that’s all that matters.
Don’t forget that Yang ALSO gets cl.MP -> c.MK links like Yun, too. This a much better combo coming off of a command throw rather than anything starting with jab or short.
Yun can get anything into target combo, but Yang gets anything into HIS target combos and slashes as well, don’t forget. c.lk to c.lp is pretty tight, yeah, but it’s definitely not a one-framer.
Hmk, ex command throw doesn’t seem to have invincibility to me, I’ve been hit out of like 3 separate times tonight. Maybe it’s just throw invul + quick?
Same thing happened to me.
So, I landed s.lp -> cl.mk tonight. Thoughts?
I just posted about trying that on the combo thread actually. Who was it against? I was thinking it might be character specific because it’s pushed me too far before.
It was during a mirror match.
I believe Yun can dive kick at a slightly lower altitude than Yang (not sure if it’s faster. maybe). This overall gives him a stronger pressure game.
On the side note, EX slashes are underrated imo. I feel that Yangs damage output isn’t exceptional but the damage you get off EX slashes is very adequate (especially off of hit confirms in comparison to hp slashes). Damage is worth the bar.
Me and my roommate have been going on debating about how must I train for when the DLC hits the consoles (assuming that it will, which is pretty much apparent by now).
I have gone back to my birthplace to spend Christmas with family ( No console here, cos they go all nuts if they see me playing, greek people think you’re a 5-year-old if you are into videogames), so when I go back to my console-bearing sanctuary, I wanna get down to training. However, Vanilla SF4 was the first fighting game I had played in 3 years and only when SSFVI hit the consoles did I decide to get serious and drop everything else (when it comes to gaming, was playing DotA, LoL, HoN and WoW) to train.
I feel that I am weak at my footsies and execution (still waiting on the stick, pad feels so uncomfortable).
So (Tl;Dr) the debate comes down to this:
I want to pick up 3s in order to train heavily and play Yang, whereas my roommate thinks I should stick on SSFVI, play online (no offline competition other than 2-3 people, yet. Working on it), work on SSFVI’s footsies and execution and playing someone like Fei Long and/or Ibuki, cos he thinks they got similar playstyle.
What do you all think?
P.S.: Sorry for the long post, but I seriously want an answer My apologies for any mistakes too.
play ssf4 and use fie
Play 3S and SSFIV. Kill 2 birds with one stone. Learning Yang fundamentals in 3S, then learning Fei in SSFIV will help your Game out, especially since 3S was heavily based on mixups/footsies with Yang.
I spent 3 hours playing against Hsien Chang(Yun) last night, and it became obvious that Yun has faster/better divekicks than Yang. He was able to cross me up at will, and with Yang I was only able to do it a handful of times. It was annoying. Also, if I tried to throw him after blocking a divekick and he jumped when he landed, he’d jump out and I’d whiff throw. When I tried the same thing with him, he’d throw me 9 out of 10 times. I think they cross up better, can be done slightly lower to the ground, and have better recovery. This has been my experience, it could be b/c hsien was just whooping my ass, who knows!
That would mean Yun has a better air pressure game - but not by very much. Yang wins the ground pressure game easily. Don’t forget that LK Rollkick beats a divekick clean. If you’re getting thrown after a DK, maybe you’re not aiming them low enough. I jump out of throw attempts a fair bit.
Okay, there’s definitely too much comparing Yun and Yang in here (even though I was a big part of that.)
We’re all Yang players, let’s just make him work with whatever he has, comparing the two doesn’t do anything for us.
lets compare him to Fei guys.
Fei has s.MP xx chicken wing
Yang has Rekka Rekka > FADC > Bullshit
