Apparently not all of Japan is with the whole SSF4: AE. I live in Nagasaki Prefecture and none of the arcades around me have it (and it’s a bitch n’ a half to get to them) and then the two major ones in Nagasaki City also don’t have it. These were two arcades that had Vanilla when it was out. I went on a mission today to find the game so that I could get in on the Yang action only to find nothing.
There is one arcade left that I have to check out.
I’m pissed because I’m actually in a position to play the game and really learn Yang before he and Yun come to console and I can’t take advantage of this because my area doesn’t have it.
EDIT: My last option does in fact have the game, it’s actually not as far as I thought. Not exactly close but I can do it. I got my assed kicked when I played as Yang…simply because I’ve never used him before but I had a lot of fun using him.
Get 3S :P, trust me it will make playing Yun and Yang a lot more easier, since aside from SSFIV combo system they aren’t too much different from 3S iterations.
Played AE in Chinatown today, and we already have a solid and flashy Yang. Not sure if this has been covered, but his EX command grab is both throw and hit invulnerable. His up kick is also really solid as an anti air, it didn’t trade all morning and both the normal and the ultra caught some cross ups.
Ultra 2 lost to ex cannon strike and yuns dive kick if done too deep…but seemed to be more reliable if done early.
after messing with yang i can say his u2 is best used to react to fireballs over anything else. i really want to play him more. i will be back at cf on monday.
I’m a Claw player, but I’ll be making Yang my new main since he was my original main in 3s. I got to play a lil bit of Yang at Sunnyvale Golfland and he already seems pretty solid to me. St. mp>mantis slashes takes a bit more timting to do than ins 3s which threw me off a bit. Other than that, most of his combos are pretty easy to execute and deal decent damage so far. EX Slashes is good for pressure, but the damage isn’t really stellar. Meter should be used for FADC setups, EX up kicks and EX command dash. Just my impressions so far.
I also played against a Blanka and was able to punish balls on block with HK up kick and Ultra 2. Like I said, only got to play for a little bit, but I will be able to play more next week starting this Sunday. Hopefully I can record some stuff if I find anything new.
Sadly my PS2 is back in the states as is my Street Fighter Anniversary Collection. I tried going to the local Famicon House (a chain here in Japan) looking for 3s PS2 version (I have a Japanese 80GB version PS3 so it’s probably software emulated) and they didn’t have it and they searched the system to see if other stores had it to no avail.
That said, I hit the arcade again today and decided to register a Yang to the card system. There was a noticeable improvement in my Yang play after just one day. Also typically it’s the same guys that play at this arcade so I introduced myself. I’m probably the weakest out of all them but I have no problems.
I’m still trying to figure out the best ways to punish with Ultra 1. Ultra 2 was easier to land but I just like the first Ultra more.
Well, supposedly Gen, Fei Long, Yun, Yang and Rufus all use different styles of Kung Fu. Kung Fu is a name unrelated to the martial arts themselves, it was just adopted by the Westerners. The arts themselves where called Wushu.
Don’t think it really applies. They’re “Shoto’s” because they all have hadouken, tatsu, and shoryuken. Yun and Yang share only 2 special moves and they aren’t defining abilities. Yang is defined by his slashes, Yun is defined by his lunge punch. Their palm strike and command throw are hardly character defining traits.
They don’t have the same set of moves with different properties like the Shoto’s do, they share some moves that they utilize the exact same way and other than that are completely different characters.
