TBH if the twins weren’t top tier or at least top mid-tier they probably would play like SSF4 Makoto (or Guy). I’m kind of glad they are overpowered (or seem that way), otherwise their offense would be frustrating to execute like Guy. I had high hopes for guy but he ended up playing like my grandma, but now I have the opportunity to play some characters with great offensive options that actually work (and are quite fast)!
The twins do not really have good AAs, especially on wake up.
Yun does have EX upkicks, but it is not of the better reversals. Yang blocks or dashes out.
Also, walking and forward dash is not that fast. The have good backdashes, their divekicks for spacing, and then Yun has his lunge punches while Yang has his teleport dashes where only EX is invincible at start-up.
And using one EX move to Ultra is something quite a few characters have. Yun does not have the best set-ups. What is killer, is probably close MK>Whiff Divekick>Ultra Yang can surely do (raishin Mahakken does ridiculous damage).
Yang’s unblockable set up is not confirmed and very situational.
Also, they have decent pokes, but I would not say they are the best of the game.
Finally, frail as hell.
They are still VERY, very good, but they will not just run a trainwreck over everyone.
Other Rushdown characters, like Rufus, are still very good.
Actually AE is shaping up to be pretty good from what I’ve seen.
Actually Yang can use Rollkicks for AA, and Yun can use EX and probably LK version.
To be quite honest I haven’t even seen a Rufus player as much as Yun or Yang in any of the AE videos.
IIRC, Rufus along with Viper were the least used characters online in US.
And there are very, very few top players who main him in Japan.
But he is still very strong. I wonder why only few pick him in overall.
And yes, Yun does have ex kicks. But Yang’s LK Senkyutai is really not that good as an anti-air. Can really hit properly few angles. I traded quite a bit. Ex-Rollkick on wakeup is faster, but still has similar problems.
This makes me wonder if EX Palm would be useful.

On wake up since Yang’s Palms have lower body Invincibility.
People don’t pick Rufus because his main BnB is a One Framer…

i saw alot of what i think was st.jab, cr.mk, slashes. or maybe it was cr.lk.
i think the fadc out of slashes where neato. you have some good options afterwards.

I spent eight hours and 30$ playing yang tonight.
Had some pretty damn good wins. I got a lot to say bout Yang.
His LK DP is a really good anti air, but it’s range is deceptively short vertically.
Best mixup ever is st.mk launcher > lk dive kick whiff (you will land before them) > st.mp (hits them out of the air) xx lk command dash (crosses them up). Now you’re behind them after the reset. You can also drop the command dash, and just jump at them. j.mk crosses up or just dive kick. Tons of options.
st.mk launcher > dive kick whiff > U2 does not connect the full animation, but U1 does.
U2 is really damn good at punishing fireballs, but it has zero invincibility during the roll aside from fireballs.
DP > FADC > U2 is freaking useful.
MP > HP > back HP target combo is really really useful as a poke against focuses. I think the 2nd hit is safe, but the back HP might not be.
Command Grab > st.mk launcher > dive kick whiff > ultra or reset is probably the followup of choice.
I pulled off Focus > HP xx HP Slashes > FADC > HP xx HP Slashes > FADC > HP xx HP Slashes and someone yelled “DUDE DID YOU SEE THAT INFINITE!?”
Yang has one really huge problem: his damage is really low. I worked really really really hard for every win, damage scaling hurts him super hard.
cr.mp, st.mk, and st.hp are great pokes.
jumping hp is great for air to air or as a jump in.
The Rog matchup is just total ass.
I think that most matchups yang will have to be a patient footsies character until he gets a chance to get in, but there’s a lot of patience required.
blocked st.mk launcher > jump cancel > dive kick is pretty good too.
Palm can be FADCd. HP xx MP Palm is a combo.
As for his super, the best that I could find is just doing the first hit of HP Slashes over and over and over until it ends. It combos the entire time but the damage isn’t as good as it sounds.
Also some characters can’t anti air him correctly when he’s in super. Like if Makoto hits you with her Fukiage (her dragon punch) your shadows hit her even after she hits you.

Go for resets in Seiei Enbu that will probably be the best way to get out damage, Since HP combos into MP Palm until probably do some good damage for what it’s worth during Seiei Enbu.
How bad is the Rog Matchup? I wouldnt think too bad if Yang can hit him out of his Dash Punches.
But U1 will probably be the preferred Ultra in most matches from the looks of it.
Actually I think U2 will be the go to Ultra.
You can combo into it the same way you can U1, plus you can DP FADC U2. It also punishes things from further away.
U1 deals more but sacrifices utility.
We shall see I Guess… if there was way to do DP FADC U1… then that would definitely take the cake in alot of matchups.
How good is EX palm? Comboable? Is it easy to combo after the wall bounce?
For the rog matchup, would random palms beat out dash punches or scare the rog from doing them
