Ono said at the original announcement that his main focus won’t be to nerf the twins but to balance out the cast overall. He doesn’t want to discount the effort twins players have put in by removing important tools.

I was in the lab and I need confirmation on these:

Mk dive kick after Mk dp is a safe jump
Lk dp XX FADC, dash neutral jump Mk dive kick cross up safe on block

The first is potentially a safe-jump based off of timing. Minimum height, etc.

Well, i made a switch from Chun to Yang too, so i’m just like Nemo (lol, yes, i wish xD). And about the nerf. I’m not saying this, because i am playing him, but i agree with that statement that Yang doesn’t need any significant nerfs. The command grab is a hard tool to use. 10 frames, or 7 frames… i get jabbed out of it a lot as it is now. Yeah, the ex versions range is pretty good, but thats is. I agree, that the palm can go. You can still use it in the corner mixup, and for combos. Well, i maybe gonna miss the meaty palm, but thats okay. The DP is fine too. It’s unsafe on block, and you can hit Yang out of it. Maybe a damage nerf. But why would you damage nerf him? Okay, he has a lot of mixups, so he can score big damage in two or three succesful tries, but man… look at his ultra. After three hits, it does like no damage. He’s like Chun Li. He gets raped by the damage scaling. Why would you nerf his damage even more? I literaly spend hours to optimise his damage, couse’ i do sometimes unnecesary jabs and shorts. The teleport is only works well in mixups and just like with Abels roll… people are predicting them already with great succes. The slashes… they are not that of a great threat per se. You can’t just throw them out like Fei’s rekkas. You only gonna do ex ones for punishes and combos in the corner if you must. It’s not a great poking tool. Well, okay… there are some frametraps with the light ones but thats it. It’s not like you have an ex kara command grab, to follow it up. So yeah, nerf the light punch rekkas… but why? Can’t we have one measly safe special?

So yeah… i think the same, that is Yang is cought by the pull of Yun. They don’t even try to see how Yang works. It’s sad, because he IS great fun. The mixups are just crazy. But, how you gonna nerf that? You gonna take away the rekka fadc? Take away the standing close medium kick? It would brake the character in half.

No. Yang is a fucking beast. He just isn’t braindead like his brother and Yun takes half the work Yang does to reach that level. Yun is just dumber in many ways, but Yang has his own stupid shit namely Ultra set-ups and frame traps.

some things i think are interesting as yang. quality of video is not the best but its the point that counts.

one thing i did notice is that yang can whiff a jumping forward in some situations. it makes the opponent think of blocking high when you could probably ex command grab in that situation for more damage. the way it works is soo situational. its kinda like yun’s jumping fierce and how that whiffs if done earlier enough.

EDIT: you can mix up your oki after a mk dp. instead end a combo with hk dp and you dont get the option of a cross up j. forward. it creates a 50/50 and there is no way for the opponent to tell which dp you ended with.

why is no one here? do you guys play yun too?!

maybe its just my inexperience with the character, but I am seriously getting annoyed with how good neutral jumping is against yang…characters like bison can just nj all day and even if u try and dp, the nj rh or mk or whatever beats it occasionally…any tips?

Can you guys tell me a couple of reliable meaty palm setups? I’m using the corner one (close Mk, Mp palm, crouching Lk reset, meaty palm) and after a sweep (close Mk, divekick, sweep) or sometimes, after a random knockdown. Is there any other good meaty palm setups that you guys are using? The corner one is really good, couse you can mix it up hard with grabs, or lk command dash.

just for future reference, use HP palm for the corner one. Only use the MP palm if you follow with MK DP for damage.

Hm, the crouching light kick reset is working with the HP palm too? My bad, i thought it only works with the MP one.

I haven’t had much time to play SF lately, but I was wondering, how hard is it to time a safe dive kick into a basic OS? I’m thinking the active frames of the dive kick make it a little harder than your typical safe jump… Is it possible at all?

Any safejump you do can have a LK DP behind it, yes.

That’s not true.

When you attack in the air, you have 4 landing frames. 2 of which are completely vulnerable, the last 2 allow you to block, but do nothing else.

In a LOT of safe jump situations, you can only safe jump, and not OS anything else. It’s actually impossible to safe jump OS any reversal that is less than 6F, unless you space it out, so that they don’t hit until the 6th frame or later.
So yeah… you can’t always OS, when you can safe jump.

But yeah, you can totally OS after a dive kick.
