Just Rolling With It: Yang General Discussion Thread

That would be pretty sick.

Sick is beating Gief’s super and ultras.

Granted, Abel’s TT is throw-immune meterless, and Yang’s throw is throw immune with meter. I don’t think Yang’s regular command throw is throw immune.

Only the Ex tenhsin has throw immun, I was able to beat Gief’s U1 with Ex MEATY tenshin.

interesting…

The kara-command throw after a block string is what i was referring to.

Believe it or not, EX Command Grab has a really large range (1.2; that’s only like .2 or .3 away from Zangief’s LP SPD). You can do something basic like cr.lp, s.lp and still be in range for an EX Command Grab.

Regular command grab has a range of 2, if you were curious.

Look at 1:52 ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ewmATtOO6o

I know it reaches far, but here, Probably a kara tenshin because this is RREALLLLLYYYY far

I dunno if that’s a kara tenshin or not. I don’t see any sort of movement of Yang’s feet after the lp palm expires and the ex tenshin begins. It really might just reach that far; I think Yun’s reaches even further (1.3). O_O

Insane

Doesn’t look like a kara to me.

It’s nowhere near the range of 'Gief’s LP SPD. But it does grab quite far.

another sweet vid Kurt,
really confused on his PP at the beginning, I always look at winning % because it is interesting. So he has “grand master” wins 80.51% of the time has 0 PP? wth?
AE’s ranking seems confusing. But on to the action!
Maybe the Lp Palm fake out into the grab has an affect on its range?
I haven’t been seeing the EX slashes used a whole lot either, is just better to reserve the meter?

Heavy roll kick cancelled into super looks like an amazing pressure tool, i suppose its better to save the meter, but after watching some of nemo’s videos it looks pretty good.

ex slashes does not do much more damage so its better to use it for fadc or ex grab

btw what are ex slashes best used for? Also the new pp and bp system seems generous compared to supers pp and bp system.

Honestly, I wouldn’t use EX slashes.

EX dash is good for escaping pressure. FADC combos are pretty big with Yang, particularly since the second hit of HP rekkas leaves Yang at +6 on block and +10 on hit (or something like that; would have to check). Of course, you have the potential to do good damage with his super. EX Palm does a wall bounce, and that can link into ultra.

I know the first hit of EX slashes leaves you at frame advantage on hit, and even on block (might be the other way around). You could mix that in with LP rekkas (which are -2 on block), but I wouldn’t waste the meter.

Deadeye has been looking at low short, low short xx EX roll kick. Apparently it sets you up with a good knockdown (free dash, I think). Might be worth considering.

Ex Mantis is -1 +0 You can do the first hit, then Tenshin, works pretty well.

About the Seiei-Enbu notes in the frame data: it reads
1~2f Invincible, (translate), (translate) follows 10f and 20f, (translate), (translate) damage 1/4, lasts 430 frames

the invincibility is short but since the startup is 1+0 it could get some use in a clutch situation maybe

(translate) follows 10f and 20f,
seems like it’s like first shadow follows after 10 frames, secondo after 20. That would mean a ginormous +20 to every move that hits with all the shadows. Seems huge to me, but that would explain stuff like MP, dash in and still keep comboing.
But +20 would also mean, with tighter timing of course, for more stuff to be possible like repeated walk in fierces (maybe even midscreen). Lots of stuff that will put everyone at work in training mode, I guess. I know that right now Yang is more about EX moves and FADC, but still I think it’s worth it to maximise SE potential.

(translate) damage 1/4
my wild guess is that each hit does 1/4 of the move’s base damage, that would mean hitting with it plus 2 shadows deals 3/4 of base damage.

Yang does full damage; the shadows do 1/4th damage.

Yang can hit high and low. The shadows hit mid.

I’m not sure that’s right. You cannot low block the hopkick made by a Seiei shadow, or high block a shadow’s sweep, IIRC.
