Just Rolling With It: Yang General Discussion Thread

Capitalism Ho!

Heheheh fair enough :stuck_out_tongue:

st.lk is sooooo gdlk. Solid range for a quick poke and good to throw out there after ending a blockstring with cr.mk xx lp slash. Especially since it can be canceled; use if after a blocked cr.mk xx lp slash (if you’re in range), and cancel the st.lk into another lp slash. Nice way of catching those players who love to press buttons while still maintaining pressure/momentum.

After playing Yang last night, I’ve come to the realization that Yang is sooooooo good!!

The awesome thing is that s.lk also combos from late hitting f+mk, too - another way you can land mantis fadc ultra

I dont like Yun at all. But guys saying Yun isnt better is smoking crack. And dont tell me Yang just takes more skill. The ease it takes to win does matter. Which is why spammy and rufus can dive kick their way to victory and get better results than more technical top tiers like chun dont do so well.

After a meaty overhead or late overhead or whatever you guys are comboing from, shouldn’t it be st.lp > cr.mk xx slashes?

That way you can hit confirm into HP slashes.

yawn

Seriously Rahsaan, pick someone else. Go play Rufus, who has become a fat retarded and inferior version of Yun. Then watch as twins walk over him since his U2 is complete trash. EX Messiah and U1 are all he has going for him now. There’s a reason Justin dropped Rufus.

Not sure about s.lp after the overhead - does it even reach? Overhead is slow enough that you should be able to confirm off of the move itself anyway; do you get more damage with a s.lp > c.mk followup?

I take it you didn’t play Vanilla? LOL

LOL. Rufus can sneeze and land u1. And u2 still serves its anti-fireball purpose. He’ll be fine.

I just think it sucks that Yun’s DK > Yang’s DK. Tomfoolery yo.

Yang’s dive kicks work very well in footsies, so it doesn’t matter. If his divekicks were like Yuns, he’d be straight up broken lol.

LOL “spammy.” If you’re referring to Cammy… other than Sako (and Alioune), how many Cammy’s do you see winning tourneys (or any Cammy on their level)? She is by no means easy to use (relatively speaking of course).

And it takes some serious work to get good with Cammy (see above question). Rufus on the other hand… but in all seriousness, difficulty in character usage/execution doesn’t matter in high level play (or rather, it’s a very small factor). It didn’t stop Uryo for opening people up in Vanilla with Viper or Sako putting people on blast with Cammy in Super.

Right now, Yun is slightly better than Yang imo (only because damage output matters A LOT in SF4) but he is no more easier to use than Yang. Yang is pretty easy to use LOL. People just gotta play him the way he’s supposed to be played.

Other than Wong and Ricky O. and other already known to be beast players, who does well with Rufus? Everyone says Rufus is easy to use and easy to win with but it’s still only Wong and Ricky winning with him consistently in Super and Rufus is fairly underused. The players who’ve had success with Rufus are the type of players who could pick anyone in the game and be fairly successful with.

Isn’t Yang and Yun’s divekick exactly the same except Yang descends slightly slower making it harder to aim it so it’s safe on block or combo?

How many characters out there have more than 2 or 3 big household name/tourney threat players behind them anyway??? i.e Adon has 1. So i don’t follow that point totally.

I do know that Rufus has always been an alienating character. Alot of people simply don’t find him interesting. I cant blame them either.

P.s “spammy” is just as funny as coward copter. LOL

Why is it no one every seems to mention or use Yang’s j.mk, :df:mk target combo?

It’s like everyone forgot that exists and means you can’t focus against Yang’s jump ins.

Good to know that came over from 3s too.

That’s just it, everyone keeps going on and on about how Yun is better when one of Yang’s trademarks is being completly ignored.

Now granted it isn’t a huge thing but it gives Yang some options that Yun will never have and I think it’s premature to definitively state Yun is better when a whole aspect of Yang hasn’t even been touched upon, let alone explored.

Floe, Marn, Kindevu, whoever top 32d with him from asia at evo (was it RB?)

They fall in with “already known to be beast players”, don’t you think?

I dont see how that question can be answered then, X. Thats like literally asking who does well, excluding the people who do well.

I’m just sayin’ Cammy aint easy to win with (or play) and you don’t see much/if any Cammy win tourneys here in the states (or even in Japan, excluding Sako). And that’s right [should he have said Adon is easy to win with], Adon would be another good example.

I just brought up the names of Sako/Alioune because people tend to associate Cammy with those two exceptional players. Just like Adon is associated with Gamerbee.

And I agree… Spammy is funny lol.

Though the point of my above post is that execution is hardly a factor in determining what character is good or not, in this case, Yun vs Yang.

But seriously, lets drop this whole Yun vs Yang. This is the Yang thread and lets talk about how awesome of a character Yang is.

MDR son! Real talk, Rufus is easy to win with.

i switched to Fei Long last week, but i’ll still use Yang as an alt. Since he is much easier vs my worst matchup aka sim. But seriously guys. If you want to win and place in tournies. PICK A TOP TIER. If you want to win and look cool while doing it. Go with Yang or Gen or Hakan etc. This game has more cool than viable characters IMO.
