Jin Kazama thread

Any tips for doing Special Step on a Hori Fighting Commander 3 Pro pad?

I found an option select with Jin vs. rolls.

Ending a combo in special step uppercut, juggle with sweep. Jump forward with roundhouse, and OS special step to the direction they would roll in (i.e. if they’re on the right, input it left). End it with uppercut again to punish the roll, juggle sweep, and repeat.

I thought roll was completely safe? still a good way to keep up with them, though.

Rolls are safe. Do you recover from the SS before the opponent wakes up if you do that OS?

great combos as always, clayton. I know you don’t like the game much but I think we all appreciate it.

thanks for watching… i just think the game is kinda dull, ugly whatever etc etc… but if people like it, its there prerogative shrug…

so… whens that frame data coming for jin

capcom released the brady guide pages for him for free like a week ago

If you wanna be a champion, and you land the glitch vs someone, you can back off and loop it a further 2 more times as long as you keep whiffing the far lp mp. Then after the 3rd lk, charge a full super. pretty funny. You can also raw tag your partner in or do whatever the hell you want.

Is anyone else having problems doing mist step consistently in matches? Or is it just me… How do you guys move your stick when doing mist step?

I’m having trouble as well. I asked for tips a post up and was ignored. I’ll just wait to my gs gets the guide and teach myself.

I flub it up in real matches a lot too, but I actually use a different input depending on which side of the screen I’m on. If I’m on the left, I use the “shortcut” (forward then HCF) and special step happens without fail. My hand just works that way I guess. Right side of the screen I’m more comfortable using the correct input. Try just tapping forward on the stick with the bases of your fingers, let go of the stick, then QCF input.

the official shortcut is QCFx2 … i play on pad so i Just do f,b,db,d,df,f, i think its more easier and faster to input rather then neutral command…

so far i think jin’s only problem is his anti-air… for wakeup i just do Power Stance, absorb 1 hit and MLD or even a cross art…

Why are his footsies so shitty?

cr.MK is my poke of choice, super fast and easily cancellable into fireball L for safety

It has the same range as his cr.LK though.

And when I saw he had his b+2,1 string I thought it would be an effective poke tool considering the range it has in T6, but it looks like a combo filler move only.

The only thing I noticed that had good range was his st.HK, but it’s a tad too slow.

u can do this in corner combos easily…

example:
Pick LAW… (in corner) jp.hk >st.Hp >qcf lp Tag in JIN, backdash once and do his lp,mp,lk … time it in such a way tht only the last kick connects… u can do the same chain 3 times, then charge a super art…

i use st.mk … its very easy to cancel into special step… and can also Frame trap the opponent…

I switch between the real input and the HCF trick when doing special step. If I need a quick cancel, like I’m cancelling out of cr.HP into special step, I’ll use the HCF method. Otherwise, I use the real notation. Remember that you have to have a neutral input in there when performing the dp motion. Most SF players are used to performing a DP as fast as possible, but you have to leave a noticeable gap between the forward and down inputs in this case (just like in Tekken). The reason the HCF method works is because you force the stick to pass through neutral when you go from forward to back. Try leaving a larger neutral gap between the forward and down inputs, and your success rate should go up. Then work on reducing the time you spend in neutral to speed up your input.

yoo that is pretty god damn dumb but law can already a lot of characters a free super(the super just needs to be somewhat fast and have decent range) after a tag cancel thanks to his punchy move but this adds the glitch for more epicness lol

bout that state they get put in, i had my friend ask me “is it actually a glitch?” and i think it is because when you hit an airborne opponent with just f.lk the game puts them in a state that looks similar but they fall much faster but i was wondering if anyone else had any insight on it because my friend disagrees he thinks its in the game on purpose.

also has anyone else had issues with jin’s cross rush whenever i do it with ryu or cammy they always get put in the corner if we are to close to it and i can’t find a way to remedy it plz help.
