Damn you, now I’m kinda gonna miss that second song. Still, getting every region’s music and the extra areas in HD. I guess one song isn’t the end of the world.
The controls and camera are better but the tagging is simplified. However, you wouldn’t be able to keep skating as fast as you do in JSRF if you had to stop to spray giant murals on the sides of skyscrapers.
Created a vid to show some of the infinite grinds in Jet Set. If anyone knows a better infinite grind in “Grind Square” let me know because I hate the one I’m using.

Does that combo disk work on the 360? I heard there was comp activity issues with that disk. If it does, I’m pulling the trigger and getting a copy from amazon.

The combo disk does work on 360. I have not played through the whole game on 360, so I dont know if there is a lot of slowdown like some of the other backwards compatible games. So far it works well, and still looks good. Only 4:3 aspect ratio though.
It works fine to me.
99th street is slowdown central… but the rest is perfect…
I can’t wait for Tuesday. I never got to play the original but I loved JSRF. It’s one of my favorite games of all time. And that soundtrack.
Gonna get this, Tekken Tag 2, and NBA 2K13 and then I’ll be done for the year.
take all my fucking money.
its going to be amazing with the enhanced graphics and framerate.

Shibuya Terminal has some slowdown too, but I think it was also like that on the original Xbox. If 99th street is the only other problem area I still think JSRF is worth picking up. Can’t say the same for a lot of other backwards compatible games.
Oh, man, just the thought of this game makes my left index finger hurt at the memory of jamming Left Trigger on the DC controller so much.
LOL! Yeah I thought I was only one who had that problem. Remember the DC controller doing a number on my hands esp when going for jet rank for character unlocks
I wonder what it would be like playing this game on a stick? Easy quarter circle motions? Lol
You’re doing it slightly different that I used to. I forgot how exactly (I don’t think I stayed on the green pipes that long, I drew air on the purple lights) but I didn’t have problems keeping momentum. Waiting to blow dust off my Vita then I’ll try it.
Very curious to hear about your variation once you get it. Youtube is sorely lacking in infinite grinds and I don’t usually make vids but thought this would be the perfect opportunity. Is it me or does Bantam street have the most opportunities for infinites?
BTW shoutouts to youtube for banning my video in Germany due to the Jurassic 5 track…
since Beat is a noob character, anyone ever try beating the game with harder to use characters like yoyo or graham?
sucks that Coin wasnt playable but I remember me beating the game with Cube and Combo…
Annd how are the controls for this game? I heard they were a different from JSRF’s and that they are kind of tedious (the original game). Still gonna get it but I just want to know.
This is the first time I’ve heard JSR having tedious controls lol. If anything the only problem I had with JSR is the camera but everything else seems fine. JSRF had a lot of freedom since well…it’s the future so it isn’t as strict when it comes to tricks. Right now it’s 50/50 in my experience when it comes to which game people prefer. Some feel JSRF is too easy and JSR takes more skill and is the more challenging game, while others feel that JSRF made improvements in almost every area. Personally I’d like to play JSRF since I never got a chance too. My biggest gripe with JSRF is there are some automatic infinite grinds in that game but I doubt you get many points for them.
JSR is set in present time so there is a better sense of current world physics when it comes to grinding. You have to run then jump on a grind to build momentum and it is harder to go upwards, very easy to loose speed without doing tricks of some sort. In Jet Set Radio Future you can simply boost so they are two different worlds indeed. If I am not mistaken in JSRF you can do multiple tricks in the air? Not the case in JSR.
Honestly the game is easy with all characters TBH. I think infinite grinds may be harder with some characters due to their weight or length of their legs while doing tricks. JSR isn’t a hard game by any means but I hear JSRF is even easier. Also since tagging QTE never changes with any character you simply have to memorize the pattern and you are good for the rest of the game. Every character has some sort of advantage like holding more cans or even getting more points while tagging. The best characters in the game are arguably the ones who get the most points tagging.
Try getting Jet Rank with beat in some of the tagging extra missions without doing an infinite grind. It’s much harder than some of the characters you listed since they have higher tagging points. They can simply tag all the green arrow spots and get the jet rank easy. On the biggest tag Beat gets 3000 while some characters get a whopping 5000 ponts, who needs infinites when you got characters like those lol?
Entire Jet Set Radio gameplay: Do tricks then tag as fast as you can while being chased by random people. Doesn’t get much easier than that, any character is fine imho.
Thanks…this will help me complete the tutorial.
do you get more points if you grind and do tricks backwards?
No prob man the tutorial opened my eyes to infinite grinds, I was like how am I suppose to get 50 tricks in a row lol? I’m sure once you get use to the game you will find some interesting things.
I don’t think so but (could be wrong) I do know that wall grinds will net you a truckload of points in a short span of time. So stages like Bantam street have more opportunities to stick wall grinds in your infinites to net you more points. Here is an example of how dirty wallgrinds are:

Tips for more points:
-Never mess up on a medium or big size tag you will lose a lot of points
-Left over cans at the end of a level net you points
-Time remaining at the end of a level
-Health Remaining at the end of a level (Healing cans don’t take away points to my knowledge so heal away!)
-The longer you grind without hitting the floor, the bigger your multiplier gets till’ a maximum of 100 points per foot I guess? So a good infinite grind gives you a lot of space for solid grinding a tricks.
Tips to make levels easier (jet ranking tips I guess):
-Tag all the green tags first (green tags are optional but needed if you want jet ranking) since it doesn’t trigger the bigger threats in the level compared to red tags (Bigger threats:Attack dogs, swat, choppers etc)
-Go for the big tags first when no one is around so you don’t get interrupted in between then go for the medium and small tags last
-You can tag Captain Onishima! That is why he has a green tag maker on him, just jump over him and press the tag button when the speach bubble appears beside your characters mouth! Tagging him renders him useless for awhile and nets you more points
-Dashing avoids everything so dash when being chased but remember to jump after four steps of dashing, not only does this allow you to gain more ground but it avoids the cool down period. So 4 blue streaks on your characters blades then jump and as soon as you hit the ground repeat the process. This is good for the chase tag missions and racing.
-Your character always has the same tagging pattern so muscle memory is key
-Like you said beat is good for beginners but is deceivingly hard to get jet ranks in the extra missions
This is all I remember for now but the game is simple enough to pick up and play so I don’t want to scare everyone with jet ranking requirements. This game has awesome rewards for jet ranks so there is a point to play this game again and do better. You get a secret character for each district you fully jet rank. Hell you even get to play as pots the dog as soon as you jet rank all levels.
