[Jan 7, 2012] Frosty Faustings IV (GGXX, SSFIVAE, UMvC3, BB, MK and more)... (Northbrook, IL)

Ditto, everything should be ps3 as is the norm.

$10 venue fee, and last year about 100 showed up and it was super crowded imho. Was there absolutely no thought about upgrading to a hotel venue? I mean, $1000 in venue fees can’t buy us a hotel party room somewhere else? Not to hate on Nickel City, but we really need a larger venue.

Ok. Sign me up then.

Tournament name: MasterHavik

Games: UMvC3 and MK9

Just booked my bus ticket…see everyone there

If I can schedule an apartment hunting visit to Chicago around this, I’ll try to make it.

Ps3 might be the norm for the biggest majors (mainly cause evo is kinda stuck with ps3) but that does not mean it is the preferred console. Ask any top player and they will agree 360 is the most consistant console for every current fighting game. People dont like dealing with random slowdown/additional input lag.

That being said we will probably have to use both system if we want enough setups unless enough people come through with one system.

We need full setups everyone. I would prefer lagless HD moniters (evo moniters/confirmed lagless) with HDMI than CRTs but those are fine as well as long as the picture is good and doesnt cut anything off.

Max: Since I am not in Chicago I need your help trying to confirm as many systems as possible of either type. Once we get some numbers we can figure out more.

Yea, **if you plan on bringing a setup (console and tv) please post what system you plan to bring and what games you have for it (that we will be using for tournaments). ** It will help us to plan how many setups to allocate to which games ahead of time. Remember if you bring a setup you get 5 dollars off the venue fee, and you will also be helping everyone out greatly and allowing for the tournaments to run smoother and more time for casuals and money matches. Thanks everyone for their help as always.

I’ll be there mike, and I’ll have extra setups if needed.

yeah, please run UMVC3 on xbox 360. i can definitely bring a console setup, might be able to find some lagless CRT or even LCD lying around, i’ll see

I am looking for volunteers who are willing to commentate on the stream. We will be giving coverage to all of the 5 main tournament games throughout the day. Each games semi finals and finals will be streamed for sure. ** If you are interested in commentating on a game, please post up.** Even if it is just for a little bit, it would be a great help.

Tentative schedule for the day
10:00 AM - we have access to the venue. I will be there bright and early to start setting up equipment.
11:00 AM - Sign ups for all games begins.
12:00 AM - All main tournament games will start.

All main tournament games will be played until the semi finals. Each games semi finals will be streamed in their entirety. For now, the order will be
BB
MK9
UMVC3
GG
SSFIVAE

After all singles tournament finals are over, we will begin team tournaments. Team tournaments will also have all semis and finals streamed for each game.

We have access to the venue until 3 am. All tournaments will easily end before that time, but if people want to stick around and play matches, rock it out.

Yo! It’s 50-50 I’ma enter BB, GG (teams), and AE. No 3s? That’s usual for chi…

Also I can bring my PS3 and a copy of BBCS or BBCSEX. I ordered the import so I should have mine by then… I might be able to get my boy to come who can bring another PS3 or 360 and an Asus monitor… let me know if you need it… I’d be down to commentate also…

Satisfaction, sounds good man, thanks. As for Third Strike, theres lots of games we would like to run but we can’t make every game an official tournament. However, you are welcome to run a 3S side tournament if you’d like.

I will be attending again, game SSF4AE, name - 99centMcFury
Lets get it in!!!

I would love to commentate but I would only be able to commentate SF4/MVC3 when they are around top8 due to having to run the brackets. I would love to be able to commentate the games at that time with someone else.

Also I think the stream setup area should be near the tourny operator table. It will make things like naming players etc so much easier.

Good call on this, I already told Mike I’m more than happy to commentate GG. But a solid setup with easy access to player names will be a huge help for everyone involved.

Yea I already discussed this with Medina over PM. I plan to have the stream area set up right by the area for calling matches and running brackets so that everyone can work together. We have complete control over how the room is arranged.

Yea Humbag, I know you will be busy with running brackets mostly so don’t worry about commentating much outside of top 8. Once it gets to top 8 you wont have to worry about brackets anymore so by all means please comment whenever you feel the brackets are under control. I want all the people running brackets to be sitting near each other so that I can help to run all other backets as well while I run GG and BB.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind xbox, but I play on pad and that thing is ass for fighting games. Besides Devestation every major using ps3 anyway. Minnesota would be willing to bring a few ps3 setups as well.

4sho bro. If I can throw side tourneys I might just do like 3SO and KOFXIII I know a couple of my guys asked about that. Would anyone be down for KOFXIII and 3SO side tourney…??

I also wondered if that’s the case can I run BBCS teams?? Would anybody be down for that…

3s side tourney lets go!

also guys dont be fools run ae and mvc3 on 360

You can count me on that list as I’ve been playing KoF quite a bit, as well as some of the other players coming from MI for this event.

Also, I’m 100% coming to this tournament now unless something tragic happens, and I still would like to run an AH3 side tourney too. And assuming that’s still alright, is there anything I need to know?

Also who’s planning on running the MBAACC 1.07 PC port side tourney? This is going to be one of the first events after release so I’m sure there will be interest.
