I really hope someone gets KOF going. Imma be too busy with the other games but I will enter it.
Right now I am leaning on making sf4/mvc3 both on 360.
I just need a lil more confirmation that people will provide enough 360’s and monitors/tvs.

See you there!
I like the pricing in certain circumstances but how many people tend to enter these things, because even with 40 people entering at 20 dollars a pop 7th and 8th still lose 15 dollars assuming they entered one tourney, which is about as much as you’d lose at a lot of tourneys entering one and getting dead last… On the other hand first place makes BANK. And I wouldn’t mind doing some Marvel commentary and can probably bring a 360 with marvel and sf4.
Thanks for the nod Medina, that really means a lot to me.
I usually do commentary for Marvel at GGA when I’m there, and would be happy to do as much of it as I can/needed for FF. I can do it for SF4 if needed as well but there are more capable commentators for it and if they’re up for it by all means let them.
I will bring an Asus monitor and a system for MK, PS3 or 360 whatever is chosen.
I also would like to commentate MK.
This looks like it’ll have a good turnout for MK so I suggest a side Tag tourney(not the silly tag mode).
What? Tag mode is the greatest! It’s so intuitive and broken!
Regarding all the side tournys, I am fine with people running whatever. Just bring equipment for it and its fine with me. We have to give priority to the main tournaments but we should have plenty of space and time to run tons of side tournaments as well so you can count on pretty much any side tournaments happening as long as the people who want to run them do so.
If you have a side tournament you are 100% set on running and plan to provide a setup for it please post the information for it and the rules. I will add all the planned side tournaments to the first post under the side tournaments section so that people have a better understanding of what to expect. So far it seems like people want to do 3S, KOFXIII, AH3, Melty, and BB teams? Anything else? Please post the rules and entry fee and whatever else.
As for the 20 entry fee thing, last year we had over 100 people for SFIV so I wouldnt worry about the pot not being big enough to pay out top 8.
Zansam and 16-bit, thank you for wanting to do commentary. The stream will be running all day with lots of games getting covered so we will want a lot of people to do commentary, so I appreciate the help.
Arcana Heart 3: singles
PS3
$5 entry fee (top 3 payout 70/30/10 split)
Best 2/3, double elimination. Winners finals, Losers finals, and Grand finals are all 3/5.
No game breaking glitches (i.e. Tyr Nazuna lock glitch)
Winner must keep character, loser my switch. Both players are allowed to switch Arcana on win or loss. Blind arcana select is allowed (by the games built in function)
Arcana Heart 3: teams (if there is interest)
PS3
$5 entry fee per player, so $10 per team (top 3 payout, 70/30/10 split)
Double Elim Waseda format (first 2 players play, second 2 players play, then if it’s a tie the winners play for a tie breaker, and the teams can decide what order they go in)
Same rules as singles otherwise. No extra matches for finals except for GF if the team from losers bracket resets it.
Osirun from Power Up will be giving away $30 redemption coupons to all of the 1st place finishers of each of the main events at Frosty Faustings IV. There will be one ticket for each main tournament (singles), so that would be a total of 5 tickets (GGAC, SSFIV, UMvC3, BBCS, MK9). This is a nice added bonus and is in addition to any prize money that the top finishers will win otherwise. Thanks to Osirun for giving these away! For more information about Power Up 2012, check the thread here.
Good news!
For those of you who want to play casuals and practice up on Friday night, Nickel City will let us set up consoles in the event room on Saturday night and we can play until the store closes at 1 pm. We are not being charged to use the event room for this extra day, but Nickel City normally charges its customers 2 dollars to get into the arcade on any regular business day. So if you want to play casuals on Friday night, bring any setups you want and just pay 2 bucks for free play all night on the consoles. You, of course, can also play any fighting games they have on the cabinets which operate on nickels and are very cheap to play while some games are even on free play. We can leave the consoles and TVs in the event room overnight so that it takes less time to set up in the morning. However, you are of course free to take your consoles and TVs home and bring them back the next morning if you don’t want to leave them there over night.
I will be there playing casuals and setting up some stations for sure and I know several out of state players who will be down to practice. So if you are looking for casuals on Friday night before the tournament, just head to Nickel City.
there are lagless ps3 to 360 converters for ps3 pad players
I can probably help commentate on MK9. I’ll just put on my Tom Brady shirt, and salt shaker.
If there is 3s, I will probably make the trip.
There are no lagless USB->USB converters that I’m aware of
Plenty of lagless PS2 -> USB/Whatever converters though.
I’m willing to throw my hat in to do commentary on both Marvel and SF4. I’m the primary commentator during the medina stream when it’s going on thursdays anyway, so i figure why not doing it while he is streaming at FF
Nope. Tubo, Humbag, Marcus commentators
Satisfaction, please post the rules you want to use for your 3S and KOF side tournaments. To be honest, I am considering adding KOF as a main tournament since its brand new and people seem to be saying its a good game. I have not played it myself. What is the general consensus on this?
As for commentary, Flying_V, thank you. We will be streaming all day so I am sure we will need a lot of people to switch out on commentary. Since you usually comment on Medina’s streams I am sure it would work out well. Humbag will do commentary probably later on but hes one of the main people running brackets so he will be a bit busy early on. If Marcus and Tubo wanna do commentary they are by all means welcome as well.
KoF XIII is definitely a very solid fighting game, as well as very well balanced with the changes to the console version. And with a lot of players getting into KoF with this one I think it would be a good main game.
There’s a few complaints coming from older players, like EX moves being overly strong reversals or blowing through zoning game. Or a shift towards more combo oriented and less “normals” oriented coming from older KoF games to XIII. But these are minor complaints in the larger scope of things, especially considering 2k2UM and 98UM didn’t get current gen ports and basically won’t ever get a chance in the States anyway.
another side tournament added
Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code 1.07 PC Ver. (run by Brandinoli)
I think KoF XIII should be a main game. The game is well loved offline. Online is unplayable at worst, and laggy at best.
