James Cameron's Avatar (Dec. 18th)

really? because i don’t see the Na’vi standing a chance against more advanced weaponry. i mean they couldn’t possibly stand a chance against a coordinated airstrike, let alone big ass missiles/bombs.

Well with the human wisdom of one Na’vi called Jakesully, I’m sure something can be McGyver’d.

P.S., I honestly don’t think Cameron intended this to be a trilogy.

He said if it was successful he would like to make two more.

That movie was fucking awful. Why didn’t they just call it what it is The Guide to being an Uber Leftist. If I want to get preached at for 3 hours I will go to church.

This movie was great. The story was a bit cliche, but the effects and all that shit was awesome.

Wow, You think the movie was preaching to you?

It pretty much was The white man trying to talking the land from the native american. Not really a save the earth movie. You gotta be really jaded towards anytype of left wing stuff to see a preachy movie.

It wasn’t hard to see. An evil capitalist corporation with evil marines who do nothing but kill babies and eat people who’s who destroyed their own planet earth with evil machines to make wood are invading another planet for resources(see oil) and killing innocents. It was pretty much the Uber Leftist guide to being a tree hugger. You can go ahead and save the your just a conservative shit to, those guys can generally fuck off as well.

who gives a fuck about where you fall on the spectrum? You are just as politically retarded as everybody else, if not more.

Sorry I just see the movie for what it is, if you still like the movie that is fine I didn’t.

 I guess… it was more like evil humans who come in and kill innocent for money and self gain.

I see what your saying but i can’t really say that was the message of the movie. It wasnt a “the earth is beautiful save it while you can” type message but had more of a" blood diamonds message" IMO

like I said jaded.

Nah not jaded I am just pretty picky about alot of shit. Visuals were really fucking good, that would actually be a movie to see in IMax. I went with a friend of mine who saw the same shit I did, he just liked the movie. We had about a 15min discussion about it and we just came to the conclusion that we just had a difference of opinion on whether the movie was good or not.

The 3D is awesome. Best movie of 2009.

I compare this to LOTR. Simply because this was a world created from one man’s vision. Maybe not to the extent Tokien did since Cameron asked a professor to help him develop the Na’vi language compared to Tokien creating Elvish by himself. That Avatar book on Amazon could even be a modern day Silmarillion.

Some of my favourite parts were the minor things that people might miss or appear insignificant. Like the shots of space where you see the gas giant and the other moons that revolve around it or those helicopter insects that looked like Da Vinci’s Aeriel Screw designs.

this movie really had nothing to do with religion, more like humans only care about money

this movie looked really good. i wanna sit closer next time.

Overall good movie, GREAT special effects. The Na’vi are very well done too since they look like the actors and show good emotions. The whole world is beautiful. The story though… a big meh. This movie would have been one of the best movies to ever grace Hollywood if the story was well done. Shame really.

Yeah, amazing movie. I thought one or two things could have been executed a little better. I want to compare it to things like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, and I think I can in most ways, but while the soundtrack was good it just isn’t on the same level of baste as those movies and as the rest of the facets of this movie were. But yeah, crazy good. I’ll probably see it again before the week is over.

The thing is, I felt like I was playing a video game done with cut scenes only. Did anyone else get that impression? I think it’s really interesting that as between movies and video games, video games are now influencing movies in addition to being influenced by movies in the first place.

It was a corporation attempting to profit off the back of mother nature. Just like Aliens. Just like Terminator 2 (sub technology for mother nature). Hell, they make fun of the whole treehugger mentality in the movie point blank. The movie never states that the corporation and the hired mercenaries are responsible for Earth’s downfall, quite the opposite. All humans were culpable.

And seriously, it’s 2009. The fact that corporations and people are harming the Earth, probably irreparably as far as human sustainability goes, is no more a “leftist” or “treehugger” mentality than is gravity or evolution (oh wait…).

He was a dialog whore, hense my suggestion.

I’d love to see a martial art film in 3D.

Karate Kid 3D!!

…actually its not that appealing anymore

crank 1?

also, just out of curiosity, for the people who thought this was not a good story or were not impressed with it, what movies have you seen that you consider had good stories?

im outi

Roberth

I thought you wrote Klaus Kinski 3D for a second. I would pay to see that.
