That happens when you rocket punch H before the Spencer assist brings them all the way back to the ground. Try calling assist earlier or delaying the H a bit.
If I have Doom’s beam assist, how should I combo after crumple? I haven’t really explored it.
You can hard tag Doom in off a crumple for them foot dive loops.
And yeah, the missiles javelin loop is kind of weird. You can also do f.H, missiles, M rush, s.S, j.MHS, L rush, super. The missiles keep them in hitstun for the third loop. Easier to do, but less damage.
Does that reset scaling?
Nope not at all. At least not that I’m aware of.
No, but if you do the crumple early enough in your combo, you get the most damage that way, Nova Opener, plus two reps of footdives + Nova extension Doom ender is a ton of damage.
Every time I try to tag Doom in, it’s too late. I can’t hold the tag button any sooner, so I wonder what I’m doing wrong. Maybe I should learn the timing to to H rocket punch off the ground, as you recover a bit sooner when you do that (I see Nemo do it all the time).
How to you extend the combo with Nova’s assist? I’m thinking : Assist + s.H, S, assist hits, jump up for another foot dive.
Pretty sure it’s just getting another rep of footdive H->Footdive S in after the opponent should pop out. Like, call nova assist, OTG, get groundbounce, footdive footdive jump plasma beam super. Maybe even using a plasma beam as the OTG? Basically think about the extension Clockwork gets at the end of his doom combos thanks to the strider assist.
When I air grab with the intent of raw tagging doom to otg and etc, I find that in or near the corner, doom actually hits on the way in, killing my knockdown. I thought to just delay the tag, but it hits them still really late. Is this just not doable near a corner? Or am I missing something that’ll make me look silly in hindsight?
Some characters have weird hitboxes. A lot of hard tag setups don’t work the right way on Wesker, for instance, so make sure it’s not the characters you’re trying it on. But I’ve never had that problem with Doom in the corner or midscreen.
That’s weird. I get it, like, always in the corner. I add with nova, immediate tag, doom kicks them on the way in and they flip instead of fall.
Well what’s your method? Are you just waiting to fall or are you doing ADD (instant whiff M)? I try to do the latter so he comes in as fast as possible.
Fast as possible. Almost seems like that’s the problem. But when I delay doom will still hit, barely. Weird.
Why are we not focusing on red life combos? Isn’t that an integral part of Nova?
They’re very situational, in my experience some combos are even level specific (they don’t just require red life, they require a specific amount to have level 1 or 2), but they’re good to know nonetheless. Not like you can improve much on them, I usually cash in my red life on empowered GMBlasters.
I’d rather use red health as a footsie/zoning tool than an additional damage tool. Period.

I’m gonna agree with Zansam though, it’s better as a tool to threaten people from attacking Nova at a certain range.
Because using your Red Health for 10-15% extra damage pales in comparison to putting a shield on the screen, or getting an anti-air confirmed into a full combo, or sniping an assist for 80% of their life.
In a nutshell, Red Life combos give you a little extra damage, Red Life Neutral tools, (Pulses, Shields, Blaster) get you damage that you wouldn’t have got any other way.

I’m just trying to get people thinking, I hate having this idea of a character being completely discovered. In Nova’s case he was experimented with alot at the very beginning of ultimate (The Desk Fly/Unfly combo, Nova/Spencer) and then after has really tapered off since EVO. But with that said nobody has been messing around with using pulse as combo extension/mix up/vortex/make me safe/lock down tool. Someone put FlyingVe on the case!
