Also, on a side note, did anyone else feel that making SFxTK 2v2 in EVO kind of ruined it? I watched every moment of it I could, but I really wish that it was 1v1 so that everyone got an equal opportunity to play. Might have made it more interesting for everyone to watch imo.
I agree. We don’t make Marvel players form three-man teams. No reason SFxT should have had teams.
The DLC character and update is Capcom last chance in saving this game.
Yea, I’m sure people will take a more serious look when the complete version is out.

Wdh is wrong with gems? I dont get it. What exactly is wrong with boost gems? WDh I swear I feel like everyone who brings that reason up is pretty shallow.
Because boost gems are a great thing in this game. Customize your characters stats(not even stats, jus 10-20 second boost power ups) and u also get to choose the activating conditions which make things more deep.
Right, its just that some of us catch on a little quicker than others.
It’s totally normal to hate on new stuff, but some people just don’t notice they’re doing it and can’t get past their initial discomfort. Especially when they have something nice and familiar to go back to.
After all this time, my feelings of this game are still mixed up. It SEEMS to be addressing a lot of problems. Just on a gradual basis. I just hope the leadership in charge know what they are doing… seriously.
This guy is probably defending gems because he is guilty of using auto-block assist gems. It’s funny, if you play people online, and if they are using auto-block, they get REALLY offended when you take small stabs are their skill level and question their true potential. All it takes is: “Are you using Auto-Block?” and they go BATSHIT nuts and start talking trash. They’ll say things like “OMG GET OVER IT YOU PUSSY, I’M BETTER THAN YOU.”
I’ve come to the conclusion that those who defend gems, especially the assist gems, are usually users who use it. Seriously, auto-block is like training wheels, and you are making a complete fool out of yourself as a fighter by using them. Complete pussy. I would rather DIE trying to learn the ambiguous block strings MANUALLY than to resort to training wheels.
What if you were in a Boxing or UFC match, and you fought an opponent. But that opponent had a body guard who would take hits for your real opponent, because your real opponent couldnt block or take hits, so you’d have to beat the other guy down first in order to hit the real opponent. It’s like, wtf, right? What a scrub. That’s how I feel about players who use Auto-Block and other lame assist gems.
And I could’ve sworn, someone used auto-block on me 4 or 5 times in under 10 seconds when I was doing mixups. It’s just stupid, and defending that shit makes you look even more stupid.

No one has defended Auto-block/Auto-Tech Gems, to my knowledge, ever. They’re dumb, that’s been universally agreed since they were announced.
Boost Gems (there’s a stark difference) are fine. I’m 50/50 on them, but they’re an interesting system. The problem however, is that Capcom’s business side thought it would be awesome to have hundreds of them and then charge for some, which of course was going to cause a backlash and make gem selection an easy {point of contention}.

I didn’t see him state anywhere that he was excluding assist gems, so that’s my take on it. Also, all gems are stupid, period, why are you even defending it? There shouldn’t be gems at all.

Had not not once mentioned auto-gems, you did and went off the deep end. The day people learn to read is the day post like yours stop existing on forums altogether.
Because Boost gems are not a problem? they actually do make the game fairly more interesting and if more people like Haunts ran SFxT ranbats/tournaments we would see more gem usage and hopefully new breakthroughs in gem tech because people like me are actually into the system o_O

Your opinion differs from mine on that. So we agree to disagree there, completely. “Gems are stupid” isn’t a fact, that’s your opinion.
And I’m not “defending” them - I even explained the problem I have with their implementation.
Hate me all you want, but you know it’s true. Try it yourself. There are a few humble players who will shamefully admit it. However, the average Joe using assist gems most likely will have an ego issue even if you ask them.
And the guy above said “What is wrong with gems?” then secondly said “What is wrong with boost gems?” So he included both the general question and the additional specified boost gems, but he never excluded assist gems, so please pardon me if he was SPECIFIC enough.
Gosh, I don’t know why people defend having training wheels in fighting games. The day that people come to the realization that gems are stupid, OVERALL, in general, as a whole, in its entirety, that it is not only MY opinion, but many others, regardless whether they are boost or assist or whatever else gems, when people come to this realization, and stop trying to promote it, only then will the fighting game community truly evolve.
