This. I didven n’t see people complaining about Iron Man or Magneto’s infinites that much.
Your post a makes no sense. Do you actually play fighters?
Why does everyone think that just because both players have access to something that the mechanic in itself is fair/balanced?
Exactly what I was referring to. That post is a fucking mess.
To Arkeen:
that is the definition of fair and balanced
to PJ:
Such an insightful and well articulated argument.
Who’s given up on it?
Play or don’t play, it’s whatever…I just wish for the love of god people would stop talking about it :china:.
Except it’s totally different. One random super, and the assist is dead. The damage in this game is retarded. X-Factor needs to go.
the game is really fun, but i am not sure if it going to be tourney viable. might have to do some tweaks to the damage and level 3 but other then that the game is really fun.
By definition? Yes.
I beg to differ that a simple 5 hit combo from Sentinel resulting in the complete loss of a character’s health is anything but fair or balanced. A lvl 3 X-Factor Chun-Li wouldn’t kill characters that quick in 5 hits.
then pick sentinel if it makes you so mad.
you can lead a horse but sometimes its easier just to bring it to him.
also: sent is so clearly OP that every single person uses him, just wait for evo, you’ll see, the whole tourny will suck because every team will just have 3 sentinel’s on it and it’ll be just like when the the top 8 at evo 2009 was all sagats.
edit: I’ve picked sentinel, I still lose. game isn’t broken enough imo. I should be able to pick sentinel and have my opponents xbox RROD.
edit: “imagine a seventh button, available on each side, labelled “WIN”. If you hit that button at any time during the match, you win. It would be simple enough to design.” - S. K.
now THATS what sentinel should be like. no dodging, no blocking. no Xfactor to cancel chip.
sigh
No one is mad. I don’t understand why the critics need to be grouped up into a large pool of bitches/whiners.
If I was mad I would probably single out Sentinel in a twitter post.
I think the assist thing is good enough as it is. It just teaches you to be careful with your assists, especially if they are low health ones like Akuma or Zero.
The x-factor system needs to be reworked though. It is complete and utter retardation watching a lvl 3 xfactor sent just destroying an entire team who should’ve won in the first place.
CLARIFICATION: I am not, outright, calling anyone a bitcher, whiner, blah, blah blah…just proposing a few thoughts.
Honestly, what this is really boiling down to is an argument between fair/unfair. Now, first it must be clarified that “fair/unfair” does not refer to a case where one can use a tactic that his or her opponent is not allowed to use. Instead, “fair/unfair” is referring to a situation where a tactic exists, Player 1 uses is, and Player 2 feels that Player 1’s tactic should not be in the game in the first place.
This is just plain silly. I would argue that most of us here are or are close to being adults. There is no such thing as a “fair” game in the sense outlined above. Every game has a tactic that can be seen as being exploited, and, more often than not, the player being punished by the exploit is either too stubborn or ignorant to use/abuse it properly. (Time warp: “ROLL CANCELING IN CVS2 IS GAME BREAKING!!!”)
If you look at a player like VDO, who makes an HONEST choice to play low-tier characters in MvC2, you will notice very little bitching on his end. He has striven to make his (would-be laughable) team of Ken, Rouge, and Colossus wreck people who may be ignorant about how his team works. The teams he plays usually consist of high tier teams who abuse the game’s system. Except in this case, there is no bitching, but the use of his knowledge vs. their ignorance. In other words, an “unfair” fight has just been switched around in his favor.
This too, will come to pass in MvC3. Over time, teams will begin to form (right now, they are all kind of “ideas”), and, within those teams, the optimal moment of using X-Factor will be learned, and a “metagame” will formulate.
I will repeat, while we know some cool “things” about MvC3, the full breadth of exploit in the system, both useful and worthless, have yet to be seen. It took people like joo and Magnetro years to figure all of the tiny little things out in MvC2’s combo system. People are still finding out new things about TvC, and that game came out in the “internet age”.
My point is simple: calm down. Approach the game with an open mind. I fail to see how someone who “spams x,y,z” is annoying if you can beat it. Shit, if something was bugging me like that, I would find a way to take it out by any means necessary. Treat every match like your quarter is on the line and see if your perspective does not change. If, 3-4 years from now, you see Sentinel on every team, that must mean that Sentinel is a valuable asset to one’s team and, in order to play the game effectively, you need him. What if, 3-4 years from now your favorite character was found out to be broken and on every team? Just a thought.
TL:DR - Just calm the fuck down.
i agree with nero
You know, fuck Sentinel. Battery/Sentinel/Phoenix is the real high class cheese.
I was playing someone with a 90-6 ratio today rocking Dante/Sentinel/Phoenix and I managed to get a lot of good matches out of him, but I never came close to winning once. I outplayed him completely everytime, but no matter what strategy I tried to form around his team I came to the realization that I either had to deal with his Dark Phoenix XF3 or Sentinel XF3 in the end, so pick your poison and get shut down. Only way I could see myself winning that match was a lucky super against Dark Phoenix, but he was playing way too solid.
I’m sure i’ll figure out a way to fight against that team, but at the time it felt pretty hopeless whether I snapped in Phoenix to kill her off or not. Almost makes me wish there was some kind of ratio system in place so you couldn’t put all that power on one team, lol.
How? If you call an assist at a bad time you get punished hard… And I don’t see how getting rid of XF does anything other than make the game less complex ( your complaint doesn’t even have to do with XF, it has to do with assist damage multipliers… )
I faced a team like this… except wesker instead of dante… frustrating as shit. I won like 2 out of 15 times. If you dont snap Phoenix in before she gets level 5 then your done. Then even IF you are able to do that you still have to deal with a level 3 X factor Sent with a lot of meter which is bullshit too.
That’s what I’ve been wondering. That CC was shot before WNF, and, all three showed up. Wong even seem to be really into it now judging by that picture with his twitter posts. I haven’t heard one pro explicitly say they were giving it up.d.
It’s a better team if you switch Phoenix with Taskmaster.
