Is PC gaming really on the rise, while console gaming is declining?

On a completely unrelated note, I only play Necro in 3S.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1vSSb Take a look at my list. This is the pc that Im going to build when I get the money. I believe this build could play all the current games and outperform the PS4 and Xbox One, if not on par. Gonna use this mainly for my photography and graphic design work, but will do gaming on the side. Total: 693.20 It also includes the OS and Monitor (If you already have those, minus 200 totaling about $500). Can be cheaper if you pick AMD parts and look harder.

On topic, I don’t think PC gaming was never dying and console are never gonna decline. People just thought PC gaming is expensive because you have to pay thousands of dollars and upgrade every year, but they are wrong (take a look at my list, a powerful build for $700). And consoles are never gonna die, besides gaming, they are just great entertainment systems. You can play blu-ray, dvd, music, watch netflix, hulu, youtube, etc. Don’t forget many great console exclusives such as Ico, Shadow of Colossus, Super Smash Bros, Final Fantasy, Halo, and many more.

How do you get Usb 3.0? I know their are multiple ways… can you tell me? Lol
Are Usb’s ports connected to the motherboard, so getting a new motherboard would do the trick right? ._.
I asked this cause I was thinking later on in the future everyone with 2.0 usb ports will fucked right? Some peripherals might only work with 3.0 Lol

The build looks okay, but I don’t really like micro ATX mobos. Ran into heat problems on my last one and they don’t allow for much customizability. Plus, that one is a B75 chipset, so it’s not going to support overclocking.

USB 3.0 devices are backwards compatible with 2.0, the only difference is speed. Any modern case or mobo you buy should have USB 3.0 ports. You can also buy internal USB cards if you’re really desperate.

Overclocking is not really needed though, but if you really want to, then that is just about $30-$50 more for a Z75, and about $20-$40 for the K version of the i5

Pretty much future proof if you get a good deal @ $600 - $700. Especially by the time you can afford it, cards will make a huge jump in performance and prices will be cut as well.

So once you can afford everything make the thread again. You won’t regret the wait at all.

Nevermind.

After much thought and consideration, I bought this gaming notebook on Amazon. It’s an Asus-G750JW

  • $1,526(including tax & shipping) and it’s expected to deliver on Sept. 6 - 10

Full page and specs here: http://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/G750JW/

Check out those sexy rear ventilators.

inb4 people start shitting down my throat for making such a purchase. :coffee:

The video card is a little bit weak, and you’re paying extra for ASUS quality, but it’s definitely a very nice gaming laptop. The ASUS laptops I’ve seen all have fantastic anti-glare monitors, and that one looks to have great ventilation. Should last you a long time.

Everyone in here should slap you for spending 1.5K on that.

Since you already went through with it, the only thing I have to say is to make sure you get yourself a good cooling mat/surface because that mother fucker is going to heat up

my friend paid 1.8k for that one (or a previous model) a year ago but he doesn’t game with it. i’ve never gamed with it but it’s ok.

not a fan of laptops though.

I paid a littler over 1.5K for the desktop I’m currently using. It kicks that labtop’s ass.

It would be cool to have as an alternative. I still couldnt see myself spending so much on a laptop for gaming. 300 bucks would get me a laptop thats good for what I need.

You cant really upgrade latops can you? You can but…

Just kidding I weighed all the pros and cons and I think it’s worth it. A desktop can wait.

What do you guys think about Imacs? I hear that they are great for video editing and such.

don’t do it…

Macs are good if you want to do a lot of editing shit, but PC’s can do it too.

Macs are for people who have too much money.
