Is KoF XII really that bad?

I stopped reading there.

Personally, I don’t care about all the bells and whistles (survival/trials/story/etc). I HATED the fact you had to unlock characters and colors in SF4. The only thing I care about in a fighting game is fighting other players and that’s where this game has failed. It is absolutely UNPLAYABLE online. So now I have a fighting game where all I can do is play arcade mode against shitty AI. No doubt many fighting game fans turned right around and returned KOF once they realized this. Me, I’m going to wait and see what happens when the patch comes out but if it doesn’t fix the netcode I’ll be in my car on the way to Gamestop to get my 60 bucks back. Such a waste of a potentially good fighting game :frowning:

Girl?

Oh, I’m going to be mentally reeling from that one, ouch.

I don’t see how giving specials on the analogue stick is a bad thing for new players.

And hell, if you lose to someone like using them, you’re the one that looks bad, not them.

good that was actually pretty funny:wgrin: even though you have read all my other post this one was no execption, there no good argument for wat i posted. Inorder to not have to wait between round for the shit to load u have to download and use up all this memory for a game that shouldnt have been 60 dollars in the first place…yea ok fuck outta here they need TO PATCH THAT SHIT.

Seriously…

I know exactly what you mean.

I’m sure the engine is great when you learn it but no matter how you look at it KOF XII is an unfinished product and untill the netcode is fixed not worth playing. The only place I can see it succeeding is among hardcore fans because it sure as heck won’t atract many new players to try it.

Im not the one butt hurt here getting all defensive with personal attacks.

When did I mention anything about specials on analog stick? Are you slow or something, must be the reading comprehension skills. I was talking about command inputs and shortcuts.

wow i’ve never really had a problem with load screens cept for some online matches and that was just lag which i don’t give a shit about till after the patch and i never install any of my games to the HD since i have a shitty 20 gig HD >.<

I’m not going to flood this thread with mere arguments so I’ll keep things to a minimum from now on.

Chibi, your opinion is appreciated but I still don’t think you’re getting the point I’m trying to get at. You’re still focused on the fact that these extra modes will help you level up in such a way that you’ll actually be a real good player. I’m just saying that’s complete bs if you think these extra modes will help generate outstanding results.

Now I can agree with you that perhaps they should’ve catered the game to the casual crowd, but i’m sure SNK isn’t retarted. Soon enough, the casual gamers will come around once there’s a reason to. Right now, all these morons on the site are bad mouthing it so of course the attention is going to be drawn away.

I’m one of the serious players who is trying to motivate casual gamers to get involved because it’s not as bad as people are portraying it to be. Again, not to regurgitate but seriously wait until this game picks up before we start throwing curve balls

This game and the the KOF forum will be dead within a month if they don’t fix the netcode. Chibi was also right about the trial/survival/unlockables. I personally don’t care for those things but she’s 100% correct in that those things appeal to casual gamers and help people learn and get into a game. Actually I take back that I don’t care for those things because right now I’d KILL for that ā€œextra contentā€ (it’s not really extra since it’s the standard for fighting games now) because all I have are Arcade and practice mode. Oh and I can look at some pictures… thanks SNKP.

The command shortcuts ARE the analog stick.

Oh christ alex hasn’t been banned yet?

I agree, those modes do not make you a better player. The only thing that makes you a better player is training on your execution and experience vs good players. Sitting down and talking and sharing knowledge with each other. Extra modes are def made for the casual. I do agree that SNK should of added these to help sales overall but they didnt.

If you want to get better and compete in KOF12 you best bet is competition vs a human player.

No shit but I wasnt just talking about KOF. I was talking about todays games in general like SF4.

To me the short cuts on the analog stick doesnt exist in KOF12.

For the record, I’m a guy, and probably a year or two older then some of you here :looney: .

Sorry, you sounded like every other guy on here that starts wailing about the old days and what not.

@ Fatal:

Did you see me write the words ā€˜great player’ anywhere in the past three pages? Did I mention these new modes having the ability to transform someone into a top player? No, I didn’t.

If you’re a casual player to the fighting game genre all you’ve got going for you is THREE THINGS.

Hadouken.

Hurricane kick.

Shoryuken.

That’s it. Three motions we’ve all got ingrained into our skulls for the past 15+ years. That’s absolutely garbage in terms of something to go with, especially with the likes of a King of Fighters game.

This is why I keep saying it’s not only beneficial to have such things as tutorials, trial modes, challenges, analogue stick shortcuts as stepping stones, it’s practically mandatory. Fighting games are a completely different beast from the genres out there, and if you take the crowd that came in with SF4 and BB they’re going to need a few arrows pointing in the right direction because hell, we’ve got nearly two decades on them.

What are they going to come around for? Where do they even start? If you think KoFXII is going to magically pull in people that didn’t care before, I think you’re being a little naive. Outside of it’s visual presentation when actually playing, the game is like the last few bites of a sweet apple. You savor them, wipe your mouth, and all you’ve got is the core and seeds left, but if you’re never enticed to take a bite in the first place, then you don’t get that end result. The seeds don’t get planted, you don’t get another tree full of apples, and shit stops there.

It’s not going to start picking up out of nowhere man, good luck.

Well I can see where you’re coming from Chibi, you provide some valid points. But nowhere did I say that KOF will magically embrace the minds of those who don’t care, I’m just saying that over time if this game does pick up in popularity (which I’m sure it will), people will begin to notice. I’m not trying to be naive, I’m just trying to be optimistic. I have a saying, and it’s that slow motion is better than no motion.

Keeping in mind that this game has not hit worldwide yet so we cannot say how the turn out will be… As of now, this is all talk. Either one of us will surely bite the bullet when shit hits the fan, but I’m keeping my hopes high that this game does succeed because it demonstrates a lot of potential.

I’ll agree though that we do probably have a lot more hands on experience with fighters than most of the casual gamers coming in. I just think at this time when the game is just still in its infancy stage, we shouldn’t be so nitpicky about things.

Haha, I like that.

And yeah, time will tell.

:wgrin:

Also I forgot to add,

As a fighting community, we as serious gamers should be role models for the casual gamers and provide them with enough reasoning to come on board. With the way many people are acting now (ignorant, immature, trolling), this isn’t going to help the game’s image in any way.

So with that said, I think if we want this game to gain popularity we need to show more optimism towards it and appreciate the game for what is has to offer.

is KoF lag gonna get any better for PSN?

its gotten better if u do a private match between 2 people. Its not perfect but its def watchable tho the input lag is still there. It can only get better from here tho.

Yes, PS3 is getting patched first and getting more servers on the 28th.

Well said.
