Well I rented the game through gamefly. I only hope that it is fun regardless of the flaws some have pointed out here and elsewhere. I do have to wonder if lacking various SP modes like SF4’s challenge mode and BB’s surprisingly coherent (For a fighting game.) story mode is a good thing. I know that games like this are inherently multiplayer but it doesn’t strike me as wrong to want a good single player for the days your net sucks or you just don’t feel like going online and don’t have any friends available to play with you.
wow
KOFXII is destroying srk unity as we know it
I agree but the problem is right now the game offers nothing. No online or single player options, nothing. With just arcade and practice mode I can’t tell much about the depth or potential of the game. As of right now I can not recommend this game to any of my friends or any of my sf4 buddies. I really hate to see a great fighting game series die because SNKP didn’t want to spend the time adding options or a viable online play. I realize there is a patch on the horizon (don’t know when the 360 patch will be) but the majority of the people that bought this game don’t come to SRK (or any other fighting game forum) and don’t know this. Right now many of those people are returning their copies. SNKP really fucked the dog with this release.
I wouldnt say it offers nothing cause im playing online right now and Ive found some awesome connections. Even found some veteran KOF players showing me the ropes online.
The depth and potential of every fighting game is to learn more about how it plays and try to be the best. With just arcade, vs, online and practice you can do just this. Absolutely nothing else is necessary, it’s all extras after that.
Exactly.
While I’ve come to terms with what the gave has given us(and having some fun honestly), some of these people here don’t realize that Casual Johnny and all his friends are the ones who really contribute to game sales.
Yeah yall might not wanna hear it or believe it, but its true.
And yeah numbers arent important as far as gameplay…but if you want KOF13 with all the fixins…it needs to be bought
i just played it for my brother’s modded xbox 360. thank god my brother didn’t pay for it.
i’ll just tell everyone, DON"T BUY THE F-ING GAME!!! ITS HORRIBLE!!!
kof 98, 2k2, xi, best kof games out there. but this kof xii is just HORRIBLE!~! ARGH!~ sure the graphics are pretty and everything. but everyone has only 1 dm? clark is fuckiing stupid weak sauce, i dunno even how to use him at all in this game. he feels stupid different and pointless. stages and music get boring and stupid. i was definitely hyped for this game, i didn’t care if they roided ralph and clark, but after playing them today. i felt they changed for the worst. gah! SNK stop investing in kof xii and just give america 2002 UM instead. jesus christ, pretty 2d graphics will not cut it for the lack of a complete game. did i mention how mad i am how clark feels in this game.
there are some characters who have more than one
ash
robert
ryo
shen woo
Most idiotic post I’ve seen all day and that means something.
f u man, its just my 2 cent. have you played the game yet? have you been playing kof for years?
you must be crazy if you think this kof is a great kof game, cause excluding modern 2d graphics. this game is incomplete by far. do you guys really wanna support SNK buying this game. by all mean, then fine. go pick up a copy. but by doing so, we’re gonna see more half ass kof games.
sorry srk community, after playing this game i tried hard to understand it and like it. but KOF XII is a fail.

BTH you didn’t play it long enough to determine whether it’s a good fighting game or not. I hated the shit out of Blazblue until I figured out the mechanics and learned some combos, now I’m addicted to that game. Also, as a 3s player I HATED sf4 for the first week or so until I got use to the way it felt and I’m in love with that game as well. I know for me I need to sit down and learn at least a little about the fighting game before I determine my opinion. My main problems with the game are not the gameplay or fighting mechanics themselves (too early for me to tell) but the lack of options and the terrible online play (which will hopefully be fixed).
I do want to say that personally I don’t give a crap about single player options (I just want to compete against other players or equal or greater skill) but casual players do care about that stuff. That’s why I’m so dissappointed about the lack of play modes and such. It will REALLY effect sales and reviews for the game and keep the everyday gamer away. I’d really like to see a KOF13.
okay, i’m playing the game right now. so you people don’t front cause i am giving the game a shot. i’ll write things that i think is a pro and con for the game’s quality.
PRO
-
japanese/english voices. its good that you can switch to either english or japanese voices. because in my opinion, japanese just natural sounds better for the kof series. ryo sounds like a loser in english.
-
game looks fluid and nice, but they do not feel like original kof. the physics in kof xii feels heavier than the original series. i don’t mind it, but just note that due to the games new animation, the physics like running, rolling, etc have a different feel.
-
combos are easy in KOF xii.
CON
1.only 6 stages… music and stages are repetitive after an 2 hours of play. the fighting game environment grows kinda stale. oh, and 3 of the stages are pretty much exactly the same. :S
2.Loading time… okay, i use to play original playstation like sf alpha 3 and the loading game after the character select. but kof xii has loading time between ROUNDS!
3.hmm, how come no character change in the practice menu? i have to go to the start menu…
-
i’m still choked that everyone plays differently, each character has limited moves and only 1 DM…
-
lack of favorite SNK character roster.
bah, too lazy to do this. i don’t like the game. its alright, but not good. definitely not worth 60 bones. i’ll tell ya that.
:lame: its sad how your post are more pathetic then his, you cant even defend the game, u just insult the person who put a negative comment down about the game everyone is entitled to what they have to say bout the game and its not your job to patrol and insult the post. Its true the game is at the bottom of the barrell out of any and everygame coming out this year and kof has always been that. lmao espically when that piece of shit kof 2006 came out but atleast that had characters and content to take your attention away from the crappy mechanics and horrible 3d animation
just ignore that asshole hes been patrolling this forum the whole day flameing and bashing anyone with a truthful negative opinion bout kof12, its rather pathetic actually.
truthful? Half of the complaints have been about stuff thats been already known about for months or problems that can be solved by freaken the freaken manual (tip, press r1/right bumper to scroll menus to reveal more options) It blows my mind how dense some people are.
Its definitley not worth 60 dollars, and also the loading time between round shit is annoying and its lows down the momentum of the game. lmao :nono: english sounds kinda bad for that game, like elizabeth and kyo sound like there half way a sleep and half way on crack. And far as the character roster goes yea no one wants elizabeth and mature i rather the game just be 20 and they added a second stage or two in there place, the music kinda sucks but u can get around that i cant get no friends to play it with me b/c they took away so much form the characters. so the game is just sittin there and my friends who were so excited about the game rather play bblue and guitar hero.
dense yo people have wrote 5 paragraphs about what the game is lacking not problems that can be fixed, the game doesnt include things the can be fixed, execpt mayb laggy ass online play… but thats a huge maybe b/c smash bros brawl was laggy and is still fuckin laggy as shit over a year and a half later.
wat character(s) do u like to use on blazblue?
I’ll do some review on the cons, only seems right.
Con 1: Opinion so I don’t care
Con 2: Install to hard drive, problem solved, seriously it is. At least for me.
Con 3: Your stupid it’s there. Press RB for xbox which takes you to 2nd page - member select.
Con 4: OMG 1 DM HOLY CRAP GUYS EVERY CHARACTER CAN DO ONLY 1 SUPER ,GAME BREAKING. Not so much and as stated by someone earlier about 4+ characters have more then one.
Con 5: Opinion again so not caring.
Although I know you said your too lazy to do this right I guess but… you never took into account the NEW features of this game. Deadlock/ Critical Counter/ Guard Attack, you would just rather focus on what they took out and hate on it.
exactly, my opinion, so i don’t care. but i’m tellin those who are curious to know. if you love kof xii, then thats great for you. but in my opinion, i don’t think its a good game. and i can say this because i’m a huge snk fan. i’ve been playing kof 98, 2k2 and xi for years now, so you can understand how this kof re-birth is hard to grasp for me. the main reason why i don’t like the game is cause a 60 dollar investment is not worth it. the game does not give the consumer enough. i’m lookin at the game’s value at a casual consumer perspective.
FFS it’s “Rebirth” of the series. Not some Mugen 50 character roster crap.
And seriously. I fkin love the stages. It’s eye-candy, especially the France stage. Just look how much detail you can get with pixels.
And it’s funny that most people that complained about load times are the ones playing on the Xbox…
INSTALL IT FFS.
