Is KoF XII really that bad?

I didn’t know anyone WANTED that generic pos…

I’m not hating, I bought the game, and I love playing it, but it’s undeniably lacking in areas that have now become a standard, and that can make or break a game nowadays.

It is getting a console port- at least on 360.

I hear you, but I also hear HatredEdge, and that this is a fan service that will get better with time.

XII:Black DLC?

Bet it.

Fixed for accuracy. You don’t know Gamestop too well, do you? The jerkasses who refuse to carry playstation greatest hits titles cuz people would buy those rather than the same titles Gamestop has as used games that are 10-15 bucks more expensive than the price sony mandates for PGH titles…and they refuse to lower their prices on said used games, and deny the existence of PGH titles.

Same style.

So… a lot of characters have no cool team to go with them, and have to just be splashed. Cool, you agree.

Meh.

Sure they would, but it doesn’t change the fact that… he really doesn’t need to be here.

Okay, one exceptional poke. Maybe. The game handles really fucking weird in regards to poking too.

Not one good normal, they have plenty of exceptional normals for different things like anti-air, sweeping etc. Doesn’t change the fact that there are few really good pokes, so it makes this into a short-hop fest.

I never left. I’m just glad I didn’t spend 60 dollars on this shit after playing it for 2 hours yesterday at a tournament. It’s garbage, really. About half that time was trying to get different people’s sticks to work on the shitty interface. No joke. 50% of the time. Unacceptable.

Also, just because you’re a serious SNK Fanboy doesn’t mean what I’m saying isn’t valid. This game isn’t worth 60 dollars, and you’d have to have your head up SNK’s ass to be able to see any reasoning as to why it would be. After they served us all so hard on the shitty netcode on releases like Garou and FFS, you expect console gold from them.

The actual fighting game is okay by my standards. Everything else (interface, package) is not.

I give KoF12 a 5/10.

raeli I figured out the stick thing right after I got back, it’s really not terrible imho just really counter-intuitive coming from other games. apparently you guys did too but it took awhile lol.
kof has a lot more air poking than SF…even in “tighter”-feeling games like '98. footsies proper don’t really figure heavily into kof. it’s just different.

is it worth $60? ehhh it’s hard to recommend to anyone but the people who know what they’re in for already. I did, and I don’t really regret buying the game at full retail.

once we got in and just let other people use my stick it wasn’t so bad, but if someone else HAD TO HAVE THEIR STICK then we reentered a 10 minute frustration process where it kept resetting the control scheme. Doesn’t help that even when I’m saying the trick to it, they don’t listen and so I want to kill them.

I do know how to play KoF, it’s just I felt like I could ‘footsie proper’ in KoF98, and I can’t in 12 at all. I’m not asking for Ryu footsies where I can walk forward and lowforward fireball all day, but being able to use normals to get into position to set up shorthop shenanigans without the risk of a close C or D would be lovely. It doesn’t play out like that though, ever.

lol cannot have put it better myself espicailly the long ass fuckin loading times there loading times all over the freakin place.

only buy it if u have friends to play it with.

Eh, I never use a default team along with the majority of KOF players so it’s not really a big deal.

I don’t know why Ash is there I guess it’s because he’s the latest “hero”. But Raiden, Mature, and Elizabeth don’t “need” to be there. Everyone else has been there most of the time but hey, SNK decided who they wanted to add. Some new faces took priority over the characters with seniority.

That holds true for every fighting game.

Because of how KOF is designed the game is a lot more mobile than SF. So it’s kinda easy to see how you can think that but I assure you hopping around all day will get you killed vs a good player.

I’m not a ''serious fanboy". I don’t like/buy all things SNK throw out. I know and understand that every genre of gaming has a standard list “features”. FGs always come with Survival, Time Attack, a bunch of options, training mode, VS, Arcade aka THE WORKS. So yeah KOF XII is a bare bones fighter because it lacks THE WORKS. SFIV and BB came with The Works. I expect when Tekken 6 drops it’ll have The Works as well. I get why people feel like they wasted their money. Unless one of my friends was dead serious about being good at XII I wouldn’t tell them to buy it. I admit even I think 60 bucks is a bit much.

So if you feel you wasted your money, return the game. Simple as that. I thought we all knew that KOF XII would be a bare bones solid FG.

About the load times. Ever heard of installing the damn game?

-concur- Hatred.

Why don’t you just return the game if you hate it so much. Complaining will just make you sound like a rich chick brat.

where can i find those threads? i have so many minor things that they could seriously add to make the game enjoyable not the combat, the entire package.

For the love of god don’t tell this guy where to post his “suggestions”. Lemme guess… Mai, more Mai, and make Mai’s clothes more revealing?

:amazed:omg are u serious even if u play one on one after each match is won the gameplay stops to load on this black screen, that slows down the momentum of the gameplay. If your playing best out of 5 there a possiblity that u have to stop and wait 5 times for the action to continue, this is 2009 got damnit no game does that. the action is constant, you push start on the winning pose and got directly to round 2, thats something they should patch

why is that you view mai as nuthing but boobs and skin, i as a player competively use mai since my first snk game fatal fury wild ambition onward. But thats besides the point, dont get me confused with yourself cartoons do not arouse me in anyway,be assured i get enough real life action to not have to stoop to deranged things of that nature(cartoon arousement:mad:. On another note, if the game did not even have mai in it ever that would be fine, there are small other things out side of the very solid combat that could be fixed via content. minor Examples: character intros, a fuckin story, unlockables, no loading times between matches esp. one on one, taunts, more stages or atleast more music. The game is fun to play IF u have a friend, b/c even on the hardest difficulty the computer is crap! But who knows i dont get online to play fighting games but i fear for those that rely on the and the online isnt fixed.

Why can’t everybody just satisfy with what they have now rather than complain about something they don’t have? Gaming has turned into a quantity over quality fiasco…

Everybody was psyched about the game and now that it doesn’t have all of the “extras” people are bitching. Give me a break. The fact that the game exists is a satisfaction in itself. People talking about how snk doesn’t care about its fans? If they didn’t care, do you think they’d spend 4 years trying to develop this game for you people…? There have been tons of information scattered around the web describing the game’s options and gameplay yet most of you still went out to buy it… So clearly something must’ve sparked interest. Do your research on what’s out there before buying…

People always need to find judgement in everything. Raeli, I know that we have our opinions, but it seems to be that your basing your judgement on a game that’s been out much longer… Give this game time to flourish at least. I feel a lot of you just went out to buy this game simply because it’s new and it’s created a lot of buzz since E3… Bandwagon hopping is an epic fail.

Agreed.

Seems that people are bitching about features that will be forgotten in 2-3 weeks time. When it comes down to it, you buy a fighting game to fight other human players. Ive played SF4 non-stop since it was released and Im already sick of the stages, I never go into any of the trail modes. I got my taunts and colors and thats it, I have yet to return to them. I play the game to fight other players. Its nothing but non-sense what gamers bitch about these days. SF4 might have a lot of contents but the fighting engine is fucking barebones. I rather have a game thats barebones with a deep and rich fighting engine. Which SNK has provided.

Alex your a fucking idiot, i bet you didnt even install the game.
I dont have any load time issues.

lol, kof12 removes a shitton of subsystems and the like and adds 1 and it’s ‘deep and rich’.

fuck outta here, stop fucking posting.

Honestly does anyone even pay attention to or care about the storyline in SF4?

For someone who hates KOF12 so much you sure do spend a lot of time posting here. Are you sure you’re not the one who doesn’t belong here?

Project, this is the way I see it:

In SF IV you have many options, time trail, survival, challenge mode, etc. I would say that a majority of the people who’ve actually played these modes only did so due to the following:

Extra costumes
Unlocking Characters

Unlocking Name tags
Unlocking Art Work

The bolded are probably the most predominant. Once you’ve actually completed all of these modes, what are you honestly left with? Vs mode, training mode, online play.

So let’s look at KOF… There are no extra features such as challenge mode, survival, etc, however you do get what most people bought the game for… It’s vs mode, training mode and online play. So when you’re trying to compare the two, technically they’re both the same if you cut out all that extra nonsense. Only difference in the end is the fighting mechanics in each game.

My 2 cents.
