I don’t care about the lack of stages and I think the character selection is ok (although I would like more). My main problem is the actual fighting mechanics. It’s very VERY bare bones. I don’t see this game being played by many people a month from now even if the netcode is fixed. I’ll mainly keep it around just to take a break from sf4 and BB. It’s no doubt fun but it will get old fast with the simplistic fighting system which is unfortunate because I like the KOF series and was really looking forward to this game :(. Like people have been saying… it’s not worth 60 bucks, wait a couple weeks and you’ll find it for 20 bucks used.
Im sorry that you cant afford glasses.

Theres a huge difference.
how is it simplistic Tanner?
Still has the 4 types of jumping: Jump, Super Jump, Hop, Hyper Hop
Rolling
2 types of back dash: normal further distance, unsafe one and a shorter faster recovery one
CD attacks can now be charged and comboed into and out of
Deadlock system for Heavys and Specials
Critical Counter system that can’t be sit on.
CD Counters are now timing based and free
Alex,
If you think this game is less special focused than SF4 you are playing it wrong.
Dude, this isn’t some text chat! Do THAT shit on your cell phone. Use grammar up in THIS bitch. I bet you think your english teacher is an asshole for flunking you because he has better things to do than try to interpret that text abbreviation shit when grading papers. To tell the truth, your post and sentence structure look like something that might result if a japanese rpg company contracted a chinese company with only a theoretical knowledge of the english language to do the translation for the american localization. Might wanna work on that, chief.
Out of all the new fighters this year there is nothing more simplistic than SF4.
…that’s because it’s really 360p (lol), and not truly 720p; they upscaled it.
I don’t think different types of jumps and rolls are really adding much to the depth of the fighting system. They definitely add more options but in the end a jump in is a jump in.
Being able to combo into “blowback” attacks is definitely cool and makes for some flash combos but have you noticed half the characters have the same bnb because of this?
j.D ~ (cr)C ~ CD xx whatever fast forward moving attack that character has, burn knuckle for example.
I dunno it just feels simple. Maybe I haven’t played it long enough (only 2 days) to really give an informed opinion but that’s just how I feel at the moment. I’ll still be playing it to see what more it has to offer and hopefully playing online against real people will completely change my opinion of the game.
Ill give you that. It feels stripped down until you go up against someone of equal or higher skill and u’ll have to use every trick the system offers, plus the Jumps is probably the defacto things that separates SF from KOF in general. The Dandy J vids can explain that better than me though.
Yea I have a feeling my opinion might change when I’m playing human opponents. I haven’t given up on this game at all. The way I see it the real release date is Tuesday when I can actually play people online (not a real fighting game scene in Chattanooga).
Yea, here’s to hoping Ignition fixes it up nice and good.
good to see some people typing something positive/
yo if only i knew how to report u , i’ll learn soon. This post is completely unnessary, hateful and has nothing to do with the topic of the forum. Im learning this is my first time on this website, but its cool though man many small minded scared little boys say and do things that they would not do in real life if the person was standing right there. Do you think that hiding behind a little computer screen, or in most cases a t.v. screen(when playing online) makes people listen to you better or makes you tougher…you do but it doesnt in actuality…moving on =)
i dont remember writing that sf4 gameplay system was in anyway better or more then kof12, i like kof12 gameplay better then sf4.oh lol now i remember when i said that i mean because you cant run like on kof12, every move u do has more focused and have a bit more importance because in certain situtions you have to find away around them. For example, if your sagat and im sakura u can at a distance pin me down with fireballs and i have to work my over to you because i cant dogde forward or run between fireballs. later down the match lets say you knock me down and jump back and begin again(fireballs) instead of having to jump and dash and ex foucus canceling over to you eventually to maybe fall into an uppercut, i use sakura’s ex move were she homes in on u from the sky(i forgot the name) and punish u during fireball startup animation. When i say focused mayb i should use the word importance becuase theres not alot of manuevers to get around things in sf4, you have more use for all your special moves. But in kof12 because u can dogde them easyly and punish. and nuthings to safe when blocked either so its not mainly special move focused in my opinion. there no blanka ball either lol
i believe its still a bit simple because out of most of those manuevers theres still not alot u can get out of them when u perfom them.
Lol, look how small Terry is.
I actually wear glasses, but if I remove them when I’m close, the game looks sexy. :lovin:
But if I’m wearing glasses. I sit far as possible because it looks sexy far away. :lovin:
But damn, I’ve never stopped playing this game ever since I got it. Versus is really fun, and still taking advantage of winning against noobies online!
Man, half the dipshits complaining about the game aren’t even talking about the actual game system or the crazy fun the matches end up being when two good players play. Instead, they’re crying about stage select, the pixelazation they see, shitty online (only valid complaint imo). That shit’s all fluff. The lack of good online for now is lame, granted, but just play offline? Y’know, like we always have? Here’s to hoping the patch makes it better but wouldn’t bank on that.
I’m loving the game already.
Time to avoid opinion forums and stick to strat and vid forums.
Yeah, we’re like hearing the same stuff everytime.
“Where’s Mai or K ”
“Why is there only 5 stages?”
“Wtf no last boss?”
“Online sucks! It lags like crap ”
“No story?”
“They removed so many specials!”
Lol, but different choices of words.
Seriously, the only thing I liked about Mai was her bewbs…
But I guess some people just mascots Mai for King of Fighters.
Yea, I’ve totally admitted my opinion of the game might change when the netcode is fixed and I’m able to play other people. Unfortunately there is no fighting scene where I live and none of my friends are fighting game fans (fucking halo players :P) so I have to rely on online play to play real people. As of right now at this moment I feel I have wasted 60 bucks, hopefully Tuesday changes that.
BTW my opinion of the game is not based on how many stages there are, the character selection (which is ok imo) or the lack of Mai (although I would have liked her in the game).
Some of those are very legit complaints. The online play does indeed suck and normally I wouldn’t give two shits about a story mode but since I can’t play online I need to be able to do SOMETHING besides practice and the very simple arcade mode.
THIS
Jesus Christ these threads are like reading youtube comments.
It’s a great port of an Arcade fighting game.
As far as a console fighting games, I expected more frills =( The game itself again is awesome, but I’d expect them to add more for the console version.
Again:
-Art style doesn’t seem very KOF at all. Looks very similar to Rumble Fish 2. Sure it’s pretty, but if I wanted Rumble Fish 2, I’d play it!
-Character roster is very wtf. Cuts off any attempts at dream teams by leaving just 1 or 2 members out a lot of them. WTF is the point of a ‘dream match’ with few favorites?
-No storyline. Sweet. Wait, Iori is motherfuckin’ Edward Scissorhands now why?
-Ash Crimson. Yes, this character is a negative all by itself. He’s like a hermaphrodite, blonde, flirtatious Remy. What the fuck?
-Interface is wrong, horribly wrong. Again, setting one controller resetting everyone else’s config who was plugged into that xbox is fucked up. Needs to be fixed for tournaments to be possible, imo.
-Loading screens everywhere. The game feels like it’s dragging it’s feet everywhere. Lagging when you press start, and it taking 2 seconds to bring up the start menu is dumb. Loading screen going into a match, then a loading screen after every kill, then a loading screen after the match, then a ‘Saving your Data!’ thing afterwords, even if you exit and it tells you data won’t be saved.
-Normals feel all wrong. Each character has maybe one good poke? If you enjoy mindless RTSD all day via overhead/low mixup, why the fuck not play a 3d fighter?
-It feels like there’s a lot missing from the total package. Sure, no one cares that there’s no ‘Score Attack’ or etc, but with shitty netcode, the interface making tournaments literally hours longer via being retarded, and no storyline (which is good, but still. doesn’t provide you anything to do when your irl friends aren’t around besides training mode.)… you start to get a pang of… ‘Why the hell would I spend 60 dollars on this?’
-Some people will say it’s more balanced than SFIV, and it is, but at the cost of what makes things exciting. A lot of the characters are pretty bland and do a lot of the same stuff now, just on different motions. It seems like Ash Crimson does some of them a little better than everyone else… but thats about it. Like, Capcom bolsters characters like Guile with two special moves… with great normals. Hint, hint, SNK.
