Is KoF XII really that bad?

I guess it’s just personal preference, but I enjoy the pixelated look.

Wow do every post of yours only consist of assumptions?:lame:

Hopefully there will be a price drop relatively soon so I can enjoy a barebone fighting game for a barebone price. I will eventually own this but compared to feature-rich titles like BB I probably wouldn’t feel like I was getting my “money’s worth” for $60. When I bought BB it felt like I was getting a lot of game/a lot of content for my money, and it was the first game in a while that I was happy to pay full price for. To me KoFXII seems like it would be fair at $40 or less, but there’s not enough meat to warrant an early purchase.

Seriously folks, how long did many of you play the single-player modes in SFIV or BB as compared to the singleplayer? How many of you only did the SP in SFIV to get the colors/unlocks?

The content you’re talking about, if you’re a serious player- you really don’t use much. You pretty much stick to versus, online, and training, maybe arcade- that’s it. All those are in this game.

Online is unplayable so you really only have arcade and practice. And we already explained that the extra content stuff draws in new players and helps them learn the mechanics. For a game to do well it has to appeal to casual players, not just the more “hardcore” like us.

Have you seen the DOT gallery? Did you read what they intended to do? The game is meant to be the best “pixel art” or “sprite-based” graphics that they could make. As far as that mission is concerned, they did exactly what they set out to do. King of Fighters (proper Neo Geo entries), and the Neo Geo system have always been about amazing sprite-based graphics. What SNK decided to do, and the look that they set out to achieve, is very different from BlazBlue and SFIV. I think it is a great “throw-back” to days of yore, but that is just my opinion. I still think that if SNK went out of their way to produce pixel art, you can’t fault them for jaggies.

After reading in this thread all day, I am hyped to go grab this bad boy after work. I have been a hardcore SNK fan boy for years (thus making my observation above quite biased…whoops). I have been waiting for this game for a looooong time, and I can’t wait to sit down and play it. I am trying to tell myself it is just the GT5:Prologue to the true game that will come sooner or later. Seriously, SNK is not a wealthy company, from what I understand, and I have a feeling they needed to get this game out there to just stay afloat.

Even the training mode has less features. More options on how to play a game is always good.

It’s possible to value competition but still enjoy and value variety and more features. All the extra stuff BB has IS worth $20 to me.

Except that much like the lacking offline content the Online component doesnt deliver either.

I mean granted BB had horrid online when it launched but it was VERY quickly rectified and now its utterly perfect, whereas with KoFXII its the same as it started out as.

Theres no reason the game should have cost as much as it did for this, its like we’re being fed a placebo and are expected to wait longer for things to get better when theres no legitimate reason it should even be this poor to begin with.

Im sorry but after all the delays and the sheer lack of meat on this game the online should have been freaking flawless and it should have been a top priority for the development team considering thats ALL the game has going for it and it doesnt even function properly.

I just figured out the funniest (yet, extremely annoying) thing about this game. My initials are JAP, but when I enter them after beating arcade, they reset back to SNK.

So the patch fixed nothing? I’m going to give SNK until tomorrow to fix this, because I still can’t join any games. If anything, I stay stuck at the loading screen even longer now. If they don’t fix it by tomorrow THEN I will feel like I wasted my money and will be more careful SNK releases another product. I couldn’t possibly care less about all the stuff that a lot of people are bitching about, I like the game, but no online play means I won’t be playing this game often.

If you cant join games that sounds like a Router issue. Have you forward your ports?

Technically the game still isn’t out yet til tomorrow…

I can join games in every other game I play(fighter or not)and rarely lag, so I highly doubt it’s just my router. Now, I haven’t forwarded anything, since i never thought I’d need to, works for every game, but I’ll humor the idea if you can toss me a guide for doing that.

Im aware of that, but the “Patch” that was intended for tommorow is already here and it solved pretty much nothing…so I dont see what tommorow will change.

I think everyone got royally screwed on this deal.

This is me being optimistic but I don’t think it has been confirmed that this is THE patch? I asked the Ignition rep on their facebook page.

so have I. As far as I’m concerned, nobody’s screwed over yet because it hasn’t even been launch date. And i still don’t think the patch released today was tomorrow’s patch.

Yeah, I mean Im still hopeful too and since its literally the only thing keeping me from liking this game it would completely fix all my complaints if they fix the netcode.

But at this point…needless to say Im not going to hold my breath on the issue, tommorow is definately the last chance this game has before I attempt to return it…I cant hold onto it any longer than that if Im going to hope for a full refund so I dont have time to wait on SNK/Ignitions “Wait and see” additude.

Thats fine for a cheap downloadable game but its unacceptable for the full price retail market, should they fallthrough on this then they deserve to burn for it…which sucks because I love KoF but I hate how this company handles everything.

Thanks a bunch chief, I’ll try this out and see if this is the problem.
