Is KoF XII really that bad?

we don’t even know if this is the tuesday patch they were working on. It could be something else entirely. I don’t know, Id wait till i hear from ignition directly before jumping to conlusions.

Beat me to it.

Whoa I leave the thread alone and 11 pages later there’s a huge discussion. Well I really appreciate all the feedback guys. After reading what a lot of you have said I feel like I will probably like this game since I’ve only just started playing KoF 98 a few months ago. I probably won’t notice any character changes or missing DMs. But as a PS3 owner, the lack of good functioning online is really going to be a deal breaker, as I can’t always just play this game with my boyfriend and roommates.

I think I might just consider waiting for the price to go down before I make my purchase, especially if hopefully by then the online component is fixed.

I would also like to state that if are playing KOF12 on PS3, please do not use the Wifi built on the PS3. Connect your PS3 with a cat 5 cable to your router and forward your ports. Please install the game on you HDD.

If you do not know how to forward your ports on your router, send me a PM and ill be glad to help.

A lot of internet issues are on the user end.

I run wireless but its offset thanks to my fios connection.

I do forward my ports tho and its def. helped (did it during blazblue launch) XBL automatically sets up the port forwarding i think so 360 users don’t have to worry about it as much.

STFU, about everything.

Maybe it’s your lame Ken av(sorry to the maker, but that shit looks wack homie), nah that can’t be it, but it sure does add to it.

Either way… every topic, every game, every forum section ->

You are annoying, annoying, annoying. And you don’t know shit either, about the things you talk about. How old are you? You should grow up a lil bit. And to take a small shot, I’d bet that if your join date was a couple of months later, and you weren’t premium +repwhoring, you’d be in the red a couple bars.

On topic: My personal opinion is that I like the game, love the gameplay, hate the content. Can’t put a price on the gameplay, but the content is 30-40 dollar game worthy, because we’re all going to have to drop loot on DLC which jacks the price up even moreso, but at a 20, 30 or 40 dollar starting point it wouldn’t be such a messed up thing in comparison.

The 360 portforwarding isnt as good as you doing it yourself.

If you can, go wire. It is much better than Wifi.

I would if the router wasn’t 50ft away -_- Ive always been lagless tho thanks to fios so its no problem though

I just hope that they really come through with a “REAL” patch to fix the netcode because if what they gave us last night was what they had intended then its going to fix nothing.

It’ll just really suck if the only playable fighters I have are SF4 and BB, I gave up on SF4 a while back and sometimes I need a break from some of the stuff on BB, and KoFXII was starting out so well for me, I mean when you find someone with a good connection and it runs smoothly then its totally awesome and then other times it struggles to play and turns into a frame by frame match

Whats worse is I can no longer play Garou or KoFXI in the arcades anymore since my local one shut down this year…so this is my only KoF competitive outlet so I NEED this one to work…

I use wireless right now, but I don’t have many issues… i may get slight lag here and there but it isn’t going to kill me.

I’m still considering going wired though.

Ok I never doubted this game, and it seems my faith has been rewarded. I played a few matches with my buddy in Atlanta (I’m in New Orleans) some 400+ miles away and we had no lag issues. I’ll say this, we both are hardwired to our 360’s and we also have no issues playing online in any other games. he even had a yellow connection to me and it was still all good.
I have to wonder if many people who have lag have it due to a) wifi b) bad wiring by DSL/Cable company c) people downloading things on the same network while trying to play the game.
From what I can see this game is mega sensitive so limiting what’s going on, on your network may help out your experience.
Mr. Projectjustace when you can send me a message on xbox live I’d like to see how out connection would be.

Im home now, ill send you a FR. Im in the NYC/NJ area.

Although I don’t like SF4, they where smart in there marketting approaching to the casual demographic…while I do think KOFXII is the better "fighter"I just wish there was more content.

Yeah, I didn’t get into that specifically in my long-winded post, but I agree with you there, Slide: with the current content doesn’t justify the $60 price tag.
It may in time with DLC, but currently…not so much.

Edit: Also, thanks for the props, MezzoForte and LeadZeppelin.

Wait, wait, wait…they’re going to charge for fixing the incomplete roster?

Even if they fix the netcode, I’m still waiting 'til this thing hits the bargain bin. 60 bucks for shell of a console port and (what will probably amount to) 5$ for a character is obscene.

SNK just throw your fans a bone and announce something in a couple months, and my wifi PS3 connection is pretty good so far  … but this game needs more pronto!!! especially after I bought it for 60 bones

That’s a god damn lie. I remember playing a buddy in BB online before the patch, and it was disgusting! Lag mid match, a whole second of button dealy. Need a say more? I’m not going to sit up here and say the netcoding is on the level of HDR, because it isn’t. However, it’s a big ass improvement.

There is no confirmation that they are going to release characters as DLC.

Yes this game is really that bad, I gave it a shot, say 5-6 hours of play on the xbox version and it just isnt for me. The menu system is a complete joke, had to read these posts to figure out how to setup 2 controllers with different button config. While on the character selection screen local play with my roommate, I cant figure out how to back out and go back to main screen, have to get to round 1 to do anything.

The feel of a SNK game and it’s characters is decent though, played some king of fighters back in the day. But to you all who praise this games graphics get out of here, these sprites look terrible with all the jaggies and blur covering them. Even when I set the filter to level 3, I can still see jaggies all over the place. I personally would much rather have all these new 2-d fighters coming out use an 3-d approach or something like SF4 did, so many more frames which to me is very important. It is like playing a Call of Duty game which runs at 60 frames/sec, makes the movements seem much more real. Just take Terry Bogards missed throw animation for example, its seriously like 2-4 frames , looks so stupid.

Oh yeah, I gave up on online play after 3 matches; impossible to react with all the lag.

My review: 4/10

Jaggies are a part of legit having 2d graphics. Blazblue had em too, they just zoomed the fuck out.
