Is it worth getting into?

My .2:

I play 3S because it’s the best fucking fighting game ever made. Everything about the game makes sense and it plays amazingly well with so much depth to it. Every other fighting game I like has some sort of fatal flaw that fucks it all up. But 3S, even with Chun/Yun and unblockables, it feels like you still have the tools to make it work. This is clearly the deepest and most rewarding fighting game ever.

End of fanboy 3S jizm shooting.

I think Louiscipher should stomp troll the OP in the name of “pursuing for glory” (read: reality).

Well aware that you have to like something a lot before you can ever become good at it. Which is why I came on these forums – because I like street fighter. However if it’s ultimately just a lonely venture with no one really to play then I don’t see how it’s worth it to anybody to continue playing. If you just want to “have fun” there’s plenty of single player time sinks that plenty of people apparently love… It’s not that I want money or whatever. I just want to have people around that allow me to really get into it. Tournaments are great for that reason – gives you something to work towards. Hopefully someday soon there will be a popular game that I really like and therefore enjoy putting in lots of time. Time will tell

Oh, there’s a good bit of competition in 3S. That’s for sure. Capitalizing on it via online is relatively hard, but not impossible.

Play the god damn game if you like it, if not get tha fuck out. There ain’t no money or fame here its a fuckin game, love it or leave it.

What’s all this shiznit yo? Got scrubs arguing left and right. Ya’ll gon’ make me lose my mind up in here!

Shuckles the Knuckles hedgehog scrubbing it up, acting hot. Then Scrub-Measure with the scrub and bubbles yo! You little nizzles chill, with yo broke asses!

hey bro… fuck yourself

yeah, fuck him for saying to play games because they’re fun??? or fuck him because 3S isn’t e-sports?

I don’t think Countermeasure is saying “No e-sports money, not worth investing 100s of hours in a game”. He probably just wants tournaments where he can compete** in person**, with a decent amount of entrants.

Basically he wants a game that has tourneys every few months across america with anywhere from 30-300 (300 is usually the max that Majors can get outside of Evo) players at each tourney. Games that have from 30-300 entrants at Majors are generally the same games selected for Evo. For example, King of Fighters XIII had 52 players at NEC XIII in December 2012, and it had anywhere from 60 to 120 at Winter Brawl, Final Round, CEO, UFGT, SCR, etc

What he’s saying is that he doesn’t want to learn a game for 100s of hours and play it online, or play it in casual sessions with 3 other guys. How can anyone diss a person for wanting to compete at a tournament?

You said Starcraft is stressfull and filled by many good players and SF4 is too hard for you to learn basics. Why do you think 3s will be different? Only because there is no strict links timing? Do you even know anything about this game? Are you good at any competitive game if you can’t handle the pressure of the match?

This game is at tournaments. If that’s the question, the answer is, yes. Already been answered a few times.

Parrying makes 3S awesome. Classics never die.

sometimes I wonder if half the people who repeat stuff like “parry gives you an option to beat anything, how can you lose when you know what the other guy is going to do?” are the same people who are waking up with parry all day. it’s such a vague pleasant-sounding thing. not sniping at anyone, I’ve just read “parry so good, best game ever” a thousand times here and wondering how these dudes play.

as the image was loading i just saw the hands and immediately, internally heard
’HNNNNNNNNNMMM’

The proof is in the pudding. All you have to do is watch Kuroda or MOV play and count the number of times they Parry and when they Parry.

Baiting parries adds another level to gameplay as well. Its a solid mechanic.

I’m hearing the theme song now in my head. Also a greatcollection of doo doo~doo dodo’s.

-youtube clip goes here… of some SBO entrances perhaps-

the realness

Play the game because it’s dope as shit. There should be no other reason for you to want to play a game, and this includes so-called “eSports”.

3rd Strike just so happens to be dope as shit. Play it, find others. Live has plenty of players, go on there. If you ever get a chance to find an offline community, exploit any chance you have at playing them. Or go to Japan, if you’re loaded. The best scenes, you’ll get way better faster, even if you’re far away from Tokyo.

But enough of that. Just play the game, you’ll have a blast.
