Is it just me...or is the execution...demanding?

Ah, thanks! I looked at Dream Cancel before, but only at the main page tutorials, not in the forum. Time to read through some threads!

IKR!!! I guess is because we have been playing SNK games since the begining (mere assumption on my part about you, Im hoping). I can do all the missions of everybody in my sig that’s in KoF up to level 7 ~9 (except Im stuck on Clark’s lvl 5) however I cant do Ryu’s M.punch XX FADC XX M.punch XX FADC XX Shoryuken trail to save my kids… SMDH.

i can do most of KOFs trials with a few errors here and there, but you could blindfold me in mvc3 and I can do a fair amount of SF4’s one-handed so I have no idea where you guys are coming from, even the links in KOF give me more trouble than sf4’s (probably has to do with years of practice though).

so far KOF has been challenging but really entertaining regardless, it’s piss hard at first but when you get a feel for it, it’s just so smooth.

I can do almost everything in SF4 at the drop of a hat but I suck at this game so hard.

lol my ā€œexecutionā€ getting exposed through this game. can’t do any dbl hcb super cancels with goro on the right side, cannot for the life of me super cancel from c.lk, nor have i yet to do the cl.C, d/f.C, super combo. don’t think ill ever end up using any of those (can land the cl.C d/f.C hcb,f+C ez and the damage isn’t that better) but still. and these kim combos wtf. so much shit

The trial mode really put me off. I’m gonna try thr SRK guide and see if there’s anything easier and practical to practice. Not even so much because I care about playing KOF (I know of 2 people total who take the game seriously) but because I think if I can get this one down I will never have execution problems again.

The difficulty is coming from the timing. The actual controls are very lenient in KOF, however the timing is something completely different if you are coming from Street Fighter. Even before tackling the combos, you should take it down a few notches and just get used to canceling normals into specials.

The only real trouble im having is working in things like low pokes to standing pokes in combos. Either im too fast or to slow and its just gonna take time to figgure that out.

Same here at the beggining, after playing KOF and try some vanilla SFIV bnb’s it was really hard for me.

If you’re talking about moves that can/must be done in the air, I, too, had problems doing certain air moves (Leona’s one DM, for example)… ones that didn’t give me that kind of trouble in other KOF games. I think it’s because characters don’t seem to spend too much time airborne. I’m using my modded SFIV SE stick for this game.

One thing I noticed that was odd, was that, after I inputted the move’s motion, and immediately jumped before pressing the button needed… the move was done in the air.

e.g. do Orochinagi motion (qcb, hcf) on the ground, immediately jump like it’s part of the motion, then hit A/C = Air Orochinagi. WTF?!

Otherwise, I kind of agree that the input is super lax compared to some other KOF games (especially in the KOF94-95 era)… but it’s a little jarring coming over from the latest lot of fighting games.

Dunno, I play Dualshock 3 pad by default and I could do everything I want to do. I even almost have Leona’s main HD combo more or less down pat.

It’s known as a tiger knee motion (writted tk).
Very useful with a lot of characters and allowing some things which won’t be possible without it.
By example instant V-Slasher with Leona, some instant overheads are working like this too.
But it’s not KOF specific, it’s possible in SF4 too, instant air tsurugi with makoto are done like this, same thing goes for cammy instant air canon strike.

I’ve never played KOF seriously before but I love the game so far.

Arg why is comboing after King’s slide so infuriating?

It’s like so weird, going from df to f to back half a circle is like ARGGGGG

Hmm, I’m not really having any problems to cancel her slide into hcb.K, although I can be a bit sloppy on one side. You can cancel the slide quite late, so just take your time to do the motion. I usually just do the slide, let the stick go neutral and do the hcb.

Hmm, I’ll try that.

Ew that like solves my problem completely!

Thanks!

It’s not as bad as you think, it’s the timing that throws me off slightly, but coming from non shortcut fighters (anything non-sf4) it’s normal execution wise.

Good. You beat me in Crack 2 enough… and now I suck at it even more… MvC3 really fucks your execution up. Nick… let’s play. You’re only in Rochester, so we should have a decent connection.

EXPOSED!!!

jk

KoFXIII is great.

This game is just ailen to me. Close heavy normals coming out faster than jabs and shorts, and the incredibly long super move motions with little time to cancel. Its my new crack but boy is it hard. I don’t think I’ve won a single game and I’ve been ocvd multiple times
