IM’s 2A is one of the best lows in the game, the only one that’s on par (off the top of my head) are Ammy’s and Jill’s.
Caps is the scariest IMO, and striders is good too.
Wolvie’s and Wesker’s are pretty damn good too. They crouch so low to the ground.
Gahh I choked so hard in the ranbats last night, both times i lost were 1-2 with the two losses being like 3-1 in my favor and then getting swept by x factor because I’m a choke artist so I only ended up getting 4th. I executed a bit better though, so hopefully I’ll just keep playing better and calm my nerves down.
So guys how is Tony doing?

I’m sorry for your loss. Give my condolences to the Avengers.
Lol, I guess that puts this “Iron Man doesn’t suck” silliness to rest.
Maybe we’ve just discussed everything there is to discuss and now know all the things?
It’s tough for me to keep contributing because so many of the posts in the IM forum are either:

[]Guys check out my new combo. It starts off cr.M -> S and only works when you’re right next to them with no time to hit confirm!
[]People keep flipping out between my Smart Bombs and Proton Cannon. And I guess Iron Man can’t combo Iron Avenger after Smart Bombs, right?
[*]Let’s make venn diagrams of Iron Man, Magneto and Dr. Doom for a while!

I still play him and he still works for me. I’m sure that if I had put the time into a better character I’d see better results, but it is what it is.
I really want to see footage of Steve that SynikaL posted about on the other page. He sounds like he’s found the magic “midrange” that Iron Man excels at.
I can respect that. To be honest I haven’t touched Marvel is a long ass while.
I was thinking of making another combo video soon.
I have a few new things I’ll try to do with IM and a couple of Taskmaster combos. I’ve barely touched any of the new characters so maybe I’ll give one of them a try. Not having as much time to spend on video games sucks .
So yeah, there’s another completely impractical combo coming your way, lulz.
Working 2 jobs, moving and getting ready for a wedding = less time for Tony and posting about Tony. This old man shit is crap.
I’ll be showing up on the Arcade UFO streams soon though (COMING FOR YOU DANKE… notreally), so that should give me some stuff to talk about.
There are 2 things I’m really focusing on right now. Character specific match-ups (which I don’t see people talking about here) and solo setups on incoming characters. The latter is really important if he’s going to have any comeback potential at all I think.
anyone in here use dante at a decent level? i ask cause im trying to put time into my IM/dante/sent team… but i have 1 problem… with dante i can lmh F+h bc volcano j.h xx airplay, j.h… but after that im rarely in range to land and relaunch with s… ive tried to use h,s but even the h wiffs or is waay to slow… its making me not want to play dante as i havent been able to figure what im doing wrong… only thing i can think of is that im canceling stinger to soon into bc or i need drop the l from the start of the series… but im hoping there is a different workaround, any suggestions? i’d ask on the dante forums… but nah.

Ill be uploading footage of my IM/Dante/Sent team…I call that shit Blue Steel…possibly tomorrow if not within the next few days and yall can see what I’m on…but you just gotta work on your timing man and I think its MHS to get the launch into Clay Pidgeon…i havent tried to learn that combo yet cuz everything is working for me already lol if it aint broke dont fix it right?
sorry for being a lurker but gosh it was depressing not seeing more viable ironman play…i love the character too much too not see anybody using him
blue steel! i like it! zoo references ftw. IM has a blue steel (iron) outfit… i be rocking that shit sometimes with firebrands blue shit.
look forward to seeing your match videos.

Good shit dude. Always good to see more videos of a character that’s underrepresented.
If you can’t do the j.h, Air Play, falling h, do j.m, j.h, Killer Bee into easy combo off the ground bounce
Yea thats what I usually do lol …I don’t have a copy of the game to play myself regularly so I’ve just learned a lot by watching other people and playing around so I never have much time for training mode but when I do I try to utilize it.
Just delay the j.h after airplay as long as possible. Then s, upshots, etc… It’s really just about getting the timing down. Going into killer bee works too but it uses up your ground bounce.
Bumping this thread. Although DevilJin is done with Iron Man (and UMvC3 too, I think) I still think this thread was a good idea.
Iron Man’s super jump ADDF can put you right next to the opponent, preferably behind the cover of an assist. When you are here, I think that these are your best options to open the opponent up (by “I” I mean I was given all these by fellow Iron Man player Dapvip).
-Superjump ADD j.L, c.L
-Superjump ADD j.L, j.S xx Fly, S
-Superjump ADD j.d.H xx Fly j.M, j.M, S
-Superjump ADD L Forward Throw*
For all setups, if they continue blocking high, you will either need to fuzzy guard them (only works on medium or large characters) or work in a forward throw. I honestly think this character’s forward throw is pretty good. It pushes people really far toward the corner and if you can’t get them with a wavedash L Smart Bomb, you can do another Superjump ADD setup and attempt to tag them again. In the corner, you can combo off forward throw using s.L and I believe c.M to circumvent the OTG and get a better combo. At certain spacing, L Smart Bombs, L Unibeam also works.
Iron Man’s biggest problem if you want to play him offensively is chicken guarding, and forward throws should alleviate that. Hopefully these can be used as a template for better mixups. I’ve seen successful offensive Iron Man, but only because its been by players who REALLY know what they’re doing with the character, and understand how to utilize the massive distance Super Jump ADDF covers to get in front of the opponent. They also are not hitting buttons on the way down, which is important. Iron Man can block during his entire air dash so don’t be mashing buttons on the way down.
I’ll reiterate again that you can’t play this character like Magneto, but he’s got some better offense and mixups than people think. I think Iron Man’s ideal spot on a team is 2nd with a screen control assist (Drones, Hidden Missiles, Arthur Daggers) behind him so this should help him do this kind of stuff.
edit: As t1bz pointed out, Iron Man can guard during the entire SECOND part of his airdash, or after he has picked up momentum and is sliding downwards toward the ground.
Good post, but I do have to point out one thing:
This is most definitely not true. Iron Man, unlike most other airdashers, maintains the momentum from his ADDF even after the airdash itself ends. This is why it goes so damn far, because his momentum isn’t canceled at the end of it. While he’s still moving forward from said momentum he can block, but during the air dash itself, he cannot. The switch happens about halfway down the screen in my experience (if you are ADDFing from super jump height).
Yeah I should have been WAY more specific. He can block during the second part of his airdash, not the whole thing. Thanks for the correction.
