IPL getting capcom games?

But MMA and Boxing show that you can create a professional sport where you don’t have to censor yourself. I believe that Capcom and IPL may be looking into that to at least pull the demographic that likes that.

I mean, imagine if at some IPL event, they’ve got themselves a big grudge match between Fanatiq and Ray Ray. Now imagine the hype that could be built if, during the run up to said match, we got both sides constantly running their mouths, calling each other out. Heck, you don’t even need to imagine, just look at the build up to their money match last summer. Now imagine that with more viewers and more money.

why is this a problem

re: d3v
since when is esports anti-hype? you can be hype without constantly cursing and being a caveman. mlg encourages popoffs for mk

Did Newscorp sold IGN already? It was up for auction and some people were wondering what would be the effect of the sale over IPL.

IPL5 was probably the event of the year for Starcraft, and I heard a lot of good things coming from the League of Legends crew. Hope they can do the same for the fighting game community.

hey if you like watching horses race each other thats cool

Hey guys, we are not discussing any of the details surrounding the events, etc. at this point but know that we are doing everything we can to work with the community and benefit everyone. Sure, there will be differences in the way we do some things (for instance, our event Production is hundreds of thousands of dollars per stage and has dozens of people managing streams) but that does not make it bad. Except tons of commercials - screw that, none of that 15 minutes of commercials between each match.

At any rate, keep an open mind. Capcom would not have thrown in with us if they did not think we would do a phenomenal job - it is as much their reputation on the line as ours.

Look for more details and updates soon.

The e-sports lovers will ALWAYS ignore the argument that MMA and Boxing work very well without censoring anyone, despite how valid it is.

Mike Tyson can be himself, and still make WAY MORE money than all the e-sports cyberathletes put together. MMA is smart, it’s all about ENTERTAINING the audience, an audience who doesn’t give a fuck if the UFC president Dana White uses expletives regularly during interviews with the media.

If Chris Leben wants to say “I fucking beat his ass” during his post-fight interview, does the audience care? NOPE, fans love Leben cuz he is an exciting fighter.

Only the e-sports morality police is in favor of censoring competitors during the event and EVEN IN THEIR PRIVATE LIVES, as evidenced by Starcraft 2 Stephano getting suspended for a PRIVATE MESSAGE he sent to his friend, costing him up to 10 000$.

Boxing hasn’t been relevant in years and I have no idea how I’m staying free because I want eSports to grow. It’s not just being a player. It’s being a caster, setting up, tournament organizers, et cetera. It’s focused on the player, but it opens more than just that. But hey, I guess people don’t look at those aspects anyway. I know when I watch Marvel vs Capcom 3, I love when Yipes commentates because he makes that shit watchable and funny, and entertaining. But whatever.

Because you are in this place for all the wrong reasons. Its kinda funny because out of all these none of the advantages of eSport involve you stepping your game for better comp.

I thought that was obvious. Sorry, but you will get more international competition from eSports than you will any local major. I mean just look at EVO…if you need a good example of that.

I still see America and Japan raping face. You didn’t prove anything.

LOL at the civility card. Pish posh pish posh, a wag of my stern finger at you good sir for being so uncivilized.

You mean the Canadians?

Stephano is from France. His sponsor Evil Genius suspended him for 1 month without salary and forbade him from attending tourneys during that period, even if he were to pay the travel expenses from his own pocket they didn’t allow him to play. There was Dreamhack Bucharest in Romania during that time, with 10k going to the winner, even though Steph was the favorite he couldn’t go.

They found out because he was messaging someone who was streaming right? I don’t know, I feel like he was just being an idiot though and deserves it .I mean what he said was kinda fucked up to be honest.

and???

And he’s a high paid, sponsored player. Act professional maybe if you’re going to do it for a career? I know this may be hard to take in, but uhm, a lot of people are trying to make eSports reputable and taken seriously.

waits for people to finish laughing

Yeah, I don’t exactly expect anyone here to agree, but that’s just how it is. EG doesn’t want to lose sponsors because Stephano jokes about raping a child.

He was joking about molesting an underage girl, wasn’t he? I think that’s indeed fucked up and any player in the FGC who had done that would have probably been put on blast by everyone in the FGC.

FGC is self regulated. He’d be rocking a “Dateline Stephano” tag at events and get flooded with “Where’s Chris Hansen?” if he pulled that shit here.

If Justin Wong did that he would’ve gotten the same punishment since it was from EG.

Except we would have still let him play in tournaments regardless of what EG says.

EG can stop flying him to events, but they can’t prohibit him from entering

That’s not what I meant but whatever, you’re on a mission. Keep fighting the good fight.
