I need some more J-Ska in my life.
This reaction helped to create a unique, still rapidly evolving, melding of world sounds. Exhibiting diversity well beyond the current generation of America’s most popular muscians, the works of Japan often feature “genre-fusion”.
That line is not just inflammatory, but it spits in the face of every Western musician who tried to do something new/experimental only to be shunned by the general public who only want you to play the hits.
I’d also like to argue that Rip Slyme hasn’t put out a “Hip-Hop” album since “Good Job”.
I’m trying to find good japanese music to listen to while I"m learning Japanese. So far I like Asian kung fu generation, some Ellegarden, Base ball bear, and Monobright.
I’m also trying out some Radwimps, there’s this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_4Ha9f9aPc I have no idea what he’s saying but damn he sounds like Eminem back in the day when Em was great.
Does any one have suggestions for really good bands that are indie/pop punk ish?
Well, that line does say “POPULAR” musicians. Not the ones trying to make music just to make it because they love music.
I’m pretty sure this thread isn’t for people that like “popular American music” anyway, cause if it was they wouldn’t be posting in here now would they.
School Food Punishment. Their latest album is kinda bland except for a few songs unfortunately, but all their music from their first album and back is good.
Does anyone know any good Indie-sounding music? The closest thing I can think of is The Pillows, and they’re a bit too rock-ish for me (if that makes any sense).

I put that on once with the intention of listening to the whole thing, but I couldn’t do it.
This thread is amazing! Please keep sharing everybody. I’m discovering a lot of other genres I never head of, and I’m enjoying them

Two of my favorite Japanese composers.
I really love Special Others as well but from the few pages I’ve skimmed through, they’ve gotten posted quite a bit.
They have guest singers in their newer songs. Its pretty neat.
i miss utada’s old stuff. i got to see her live in concert in 2010, she sings better live!
