Help!
Help! I think I messed up my Imp board! :wasted:
Basically I somehow managed to lift the trace at spot [1].
Iāve tried a rescue attempt by soldering from the chipās leg to spot [2] (a trace line), but Iām worried that the trace line will FUBAR this board & anything connected to it.

Should I just give up/order another Imp? :ā(
My question is a test question. i plugged my board into my pc, and i was testing buttons through windows, and I had x read as on, a as 2, and it said that b was 3 and y as 4. I just want to check to make sure it is the same as everyone else.
I have a question.
When assembling my IMP board I put the chips the wrong way. I wired everything up and obviouslly it diddnt work. The Stick pwered on, but was not recongnized.
I went and noticed I had put the chips facing the wrong direction. I un-did them and soddered them on the right way.
Still not recognizing the stick. Did I mess up the IMP by plugging it in with the chips inverted.
Do I need to order another IMP.
I am just hoping I diddnt mess up my PCBās.
Hey man,
I notice no one else has answered this question. But even un-modded, I have seen MULTIPLE TE sticks for 360 having this problem. Check the connection of both of your QDās on the roundhouse button, but I believe that there is some sort of manufacturing fault in the PCB that causes this. It is ALWAYS roundhouse that suddenly stops registering, sometimes it comes back on a few seconds later from mashing it, but usually you just plug it back in and it works normally for a while.
I am surprised more people donāt complain about this because Iāve seen it in multiple sticks.
TE stick reliability after modding?
Hi guys,
just wondering how many of you have had problems with the TE or SE after modding? Like has malfunctioned after X months etcā¦
thanks
Quyeno
some people have complained about similar issues, but itās in a different thread. Some people called MadCatz and were able to get new pcbās shipped. Apparently they didnāt even require proof that you didnāt void the warranty or proof of purchase or anything, lol (some of the people had dual modded their sticks and thought it had something to do with that)
I think anyone with that issue should just call madcatz and see if they can get a new pcbā¦
BTW, nice av. Rick tha ruler!
just finished my se mod with a cthulhu/imp board and iām getting the same thing. everything works perfectly, just that my roundhouse led turbo light is on as well as the ring of light. neither of these bother me, personally, but i was thinking in a tournament setting the turbo light might look fishy. does anyone know what could be causing this?
I think I may have figured it out
I finished my Cthulhu/Imp mod awhile back but I waiting for my buttons and joystick before taking pictures. Thanks Bomberman for the great guide, Fundando for the idea of not soldering directly to the pcb, and of course Toodles for the great pcbs. It was a very easy job even for my first time soldering even though it took me a little longer to go through everything.
The pictures donāt show it but the wires from the Cthulhu are soldered into the bottom row of QDās. Soldered onto the QD first then plugged back in and w/ the covering pulled back over them again. I found this MUCH easier than trying to solder all the wires onto the pcb since theyāre not all close together.
And here are the pictures:

Its a facebook link but its the public link for the album so no account required. =)
woah that is some thick ass wire, haha. Nice job though, whatever works.
So earlier when I thought I figured it out I realized that I needed to cut and solder the 360 cord on to the imp (im a noob) duh. I soldered it and it didnāt work so I redid my soldering on all the data lines and the 360 cord to check my work, and nothing.
I have an assembled Cthulhu and I attached another usb cord to that and now its not responding and of course I canāt check the 360 pcb because I cut and soldered the cord to the imp.
Does any of that make sense, manman, bomberman, anyone please help.
boo, my stick finally shit out on me tonight. After playin some SF4 online using my PS3, I took it out to play some rockband, then hooked it back up again to play some MvC, and to my surprise the stick is unresponsive. Tried to hook it up to my xbox and my PC, and got no luck there. No signal or power to the stick whatsoever. Any other tips I should try before I give madcatz a call to replace my PCB?
damn that sucks, sounds like the problem is growing⦠could check your connections, but if everything is solid and it worked before, that sounds badā¦
yeah, Iāll open it up tomorrow and check everything. Iām pretty sure I shorted the PCB somehow. I figure it woulda happened sooner or later, bah, this is depressing
if you had shorted out the pcb wouldnāt it have shown up right away? I guess I donāt know much about that, but I would think you would have seen it quicker. I saw some other posts about peoples TE pcbs just crapping out after a while in different ways though. I really hope it doesnāt keep spreading, that would suck.
I remember before it died, the roundhouse button turbo light was on, plus the upper left guide button was on as well. Iāve never had those turn on other times Iāve used it. I donāt know if that may constitute to a problem, Iāve seen other people had the same thing, but it didnt crap out their sticks completely.
Anyway, so I hooked it up to my PC using the Cthulu portion of the stick. It finds new drivers (Cthulu drivers), installs them, and gives me an error. Now I canāt open up the āGame Controllersā menu until I take out the joystick. When I do, and open up the āGame Controllersā window, put back in the stick, the PC recognizes that a device was plugged in, but the āGame Controllersā window shuts down automatically. Again, back to where I started, unable to open up that window.
EDIT: Fixed⦠the voltage wire to the cthulu popped out of the screw terminal. All better!
i think i know what it is. i believe its some mini resistor. its being measured at 22-27 ohms.
but man, if EVERYONE in this thread confirms the problems after a few months, i think ill hold back in modding my second te fightstick and just pick up a te fightstick for the ps3 separately.
Repost
I have a 360/Cthulhu/Imp setup and wanted to add a PS controller (not an MC Cthulhu). I tried just rigging it up to the terminal strip, since that seemed the easiest and the PS side didnāt work at all. 360/PS3 still worked fine. Is this setup possible, or will I have to go with an MC Cthulhu if I wanted to do this?
thatās why I prefer soldering to using the screw terminals. Less chance for that kind of thing.
