ah now i get it
its only recommanded to connect MC cthulu to data 1 because only the connection to data 1 is protected by a diode.
No, the MC Cthulhu has to be connected to data 1 in order for the PS2/GC/Xbox 1 modes to work. You can connect it to data 2 but then you’re losing out on the MC functionality.
BTW I posted a picture of the easiest possible place to mount the Cthulhu and Imp in a TE a few pages back… Easy as in not requiring any additional parts. Here it is again:

I’m going to be swamped with summer school for 2 or 3 more weeks, so I won’t be able to fix up the guide or answer a lot of questions until then. I’m counting on Manman, Toodles, and other experienced users to watch things while I’m gone.
NICE PICture~ where is the TE stick PCB and the distribution block @_@
Ok…that makes sense now that I think about it. I must have been mixing info from MC & PS3 only.:looney:
Alright, I’ve got a question.
I’ve almost got everything squared away for my controller, I’ve got my CG 360 PCBs, my buttons, and soon to be- my case. The next step is to get ahold of the Imp/MC Cthulhu and wire everything. Wiring is where my question comes in. I just want to get everything squared away in my head.
(bare with me, because I can’t load images from imageshack and whatnot while I’m at work) Am I correct to think that the 360 PCB passes through the Cthulhu board, and out like the rest of the controllers (through the RJ-45 jack, also I would just have a single jack for everything)? I have a feeling that’s exactly what I’m reading, but I just can’t piece it together with the lack of sleep I’m currently suffering. If someone could just confirm that for me, and if possible a quick diagram of exactly what goes where (not nessisary, but would help me pass the time at work) Thanks in advance, I have a feeling its a stupid question.
where did u get the PS3 button and Xbox button beside the switch?
Thank you for explaining this so clearly.:encore:
Today I finally did True_Techs’ SE stick and because of the limited room I couldn’t make the long glued PCB I always make. So instead I stacked all three pcbs and used the plastic that the chips are sent in as brackets. I really like how it came out all compact and you can’t really tell it doesn’t belong.

Wow!!!
mate you have some of the best installs, how long do one of these installs take?
I struggle to complete everything in 2 hours and thats absolutley pushing it, these look like A LOT of work!!! Same as your long side by side pcb ones too
come on dude…stop being so smart!
This one took 2-3 hours because I had to stop and think about how I wanted to do it and then see if everything would fit. I can do the long pcb now in 1-1.5 hours and I imagine if I do another SE I can do it around 1-1.5 hours as well since I now have the info/experience from this one and I don’t have to create something from scratch.
this is sick
Those are the HOME & GUIDE buttons from some spare DS3/360 pads I had.
Thanks, but unfortunately I was a bit off with the MC Cthulhu. Make sure the data lines are going to D1 on the IMP or the multi console function will not work.
Holy crap! :wow:
WOW… The anal awesomeness of work just blows me away. By 1-1.5 hours, you mean with soldering?
I’m doing TE work for someone tonight, I think I’m going to use your other method tonight. For the TE, I assume you hot glue the boards first?
WOW
I’ve got a question about Imp and RJ45 together.
Bomberman’s stick keeps the USB cord coming from the Imp, PLUS an RJ-45 jack from the Cthulhu. So the USB cord from the imp is used for PS3/360 and the RJ-45 for other consoles?
So it’s not possible to have everything - PS3 USB, 360 USB, other consoles - all connecting through RJ45, even with an imp?
how is the size of the mounting hole on the Cthulu compared to those on a PC motherboard?
in other words, could the screws and mounting thingy for a PC motherboard (which has a standard size) be used on a Cthulu?
That’s how he has it setup because it’s just easiest to wire it that way.
It is possible, sure. If the only place cables come out is the RJ-45 jack, then run the vcc, ground, D+ and D- wires from the RJ-45 to the Imp, and the other four RJ-45 wires direct to the MC Cthulhu.
The situation gets iffy when you want all of the consoles available via RJ-45 AND have a dedicated USB cable, like with a TE mod. Then, well, it can be done that way, but its best not to. If you have an RJ-45 jack AND a dedicated USB cable, then just wire it the way bomberman describes, else there will be a lot of heartache.
They should work fine.
This sort of question is Cthulhu specific and doesnt deal with Bomberman’s excellent guide; please ask them in the Cthulhu thread instead.
my bad Toodles.
Shan, it makes me sad when I come back for a visit and see you making more pointless posts. Maybe you could try asking someone else if your post is a good idea before you make it. Seriously, the thread is stickied and doesn’t need to be bumped. (No need to reply to this.)
EJM, that’s quite a unique idea! Do you have any special wire cutting techniques? That part takes me more time than I would like.
I’ve just about have everything to get rolling on my SE stick, but rereading the guide I may have confused myself for sheer lack of intelligence on this. In the portion about those D lines on the imp and how it should go 2 lines from chtulhu and 2 lines from se pcb. You make a note about ps3/pc only chtulhu vs MC cthulhu and I simply can’t figure out what you are trying to say.
To paint a better picture, I have a MC cthulhu. Is the written section I can’t understand tell me something about what to solder where that the picture you pu to go with it won’t tell me(since you used an MC board) and that the order some quoted a few posts up what I should be soldering.
Since I’m at it, I have a TE on the way. Is there anything different in it like the pcb and such that I simply can’t follow this guide and adapt to it?
Also if this posts sounds off or has some gross misspelling, typed it on my iPhone on the bus going to work, so I’m very sorry
