Installing an MC Cthulhu and Imp in an Xbox 360 SF4 SE stick

He’s 100% CORRECT! As expected.

If you want a switch, just use the LS/DP/RS functionality of the TE. I think someone posted about it earlier in this thread.

Sorry if this isn’t the right place for this. They closed down the “feedback” section, and I figure a lot of people who are looking for rj-45 jacks might be in this thread so, I thought it might help some people.

Anyone who is looking to buy a Neutrik jack, I would recommend avoiding iavsolutions.com. I came across them while looking for a place that took paypal, and said they ship quickly. Well, now it’s 2 weeks later and I don’t have anything. 2 weeks might not be so bad (although I think that’s really pushing it), but on top of that the number they list never gets answered, and nobody has responded to any of the messages I’ve left or emails regarding the status of my order, so at this point I filed a case w/ paypal, and decided to order from mouser like bomberman suggested in the original post. I probably should have just done that in the first place :bluu:

Even though Mouser doesn’t take Paypal, you can still use Paypal… Go to Paypal’s website and install the Paypal browser plug-in. That lets you generate temporary credit cards, so you can use your Paypal account to make credit card purchases with virtually any website. It’s rad.

wow, that’s a pretty smart idea on their part. Thanks for the tip.

This may have been answered but here it goes…With this duel mod, could it be able to use the xbox button as the ps button? Im really thinking of duel modding my se fightstick.

Yes, the xbox guide button works as the PS button (I think, I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong!)

You are correct

If you look at Faux’s diagram and bomberman’s pictures, you’ll see that the HOME contact on the Cthulhu is connected to GUIDE.

And my diagram! Come on, I put a lot of work into those diagrams.

Well i just tried the RS switch to two new mods i did, let me just say they are great!!! It allows you to “continuiously” leave them in ps3 or xbox mode (bar when u use the mc cthulhu where you have to switch back to DP)

Great stuff bomberman, i seirously cannot explain in words how thankful i am for these tutorials, and my bible… those awesome diagrams.

Yes! And Bomberman’s diagrams too! I will give credit where credit is due

I did my first RS switch mod too, and it worked like a charm!

Getting better at these installations… i’ve come a long way in terms of cable management since my first mod :), actually, i think i’ve come a long way since my first post in this thread

This was my first install…

ph33r my 1337 cable management skillz!! hahah :bgrin:

Then this became my norm…

After seeing EJM’s mad clean install, i was somewhat inspired but knew i could never get it as clean… so here’s my attempt:

Still nowhere near as clean… but as you can see, its definitely much much better then my first install

It’s true… practise really does make perfect

That looks good, man. I need to start using heat shrink tubing or something.

Here is where I like to install the Cthulhu and Imp in TE sticks:

You can use existing screws for both boards, with no need for glue, drilling, or other mounting materials.

mine pretty much looks like your first one Caesar, haha. The other one you posted looks really nice though.

I think a lot of it (besides things like heat shrink) has to do with planning all your board placement ahead of time and then cutting the individual wires to the right length. Since it was my first time (and I find wire cutting/stripping to be the most tedious thing ever lol) I just cut all the wires to the maximum length I thought I might need them to be in case I misjudged something and had to place the boards a little farther apart than I thought or something. Wasn’t really too bad, but it left me with an unnecessary tangle of wires that I have to push out of the way like in that first pic, haha.

Ok guys here’s the issue. I followed Akuma001’s guide on this thread http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=183137&highlight=Cthulu and its not working. When connected to my computer the Cthulu picks up fine and the TE stick shows up in the bottom right corner when you plug in something new in the USB ports but not in the game controllers. I also use a DPDT switch. The PS3 side works perfectly fine but the xbox side wont connect to the 360. The xbox home button comes on for about 10 seconds but then turns off and if you hold the button down the lights come on again but then shut off after another 10 seconds. Attached are pictures. Any help is welcome and if you want closer pictures of something specific Im happy to help.

This is a cross post from the newbie thread because you guys may have more knowledge on how to resolve my issue.

This is a crosspost from the newbie thread as I may get answers here.

Those look nice mR_CaESaR.

Here is the second mod I’ve done, it is for Shogun. This one I did a lot faster and I made it a bit cleaner too. Same as before, I glued the three PCBs together and used 30 AWG wire.

How permanent would that hot glue be? I might go ahead and start using your method as I like how much shorter the wires can be. It’s a fair bit more trouble cutting the wires to a specific length though, so I’m not sure yet.

Shockwave3000, I’m not sure this thread is the best place to ask that question, but if somebody wants to help you troubleshoot, that’s fine, I guess.

So I got the Cthulhu up and working. The Imp was a lost cause (my own fault due to soldering inexperience) so I’ll get another of that. My question though, is if I fried my 360 SE pcb. PC/PS3 functionality works fine, but I can’t get the 360 version to power on.

I have a USB jack on my Cthulhu, so I am attempting to run 2 wires out of the stick. I’m trying to put the wires in as best as I can (red white green black) but I’m not having any luck. Will a multimeter work in checking whats wrong? I have one but have no battery for it. I’ve attatched a pic.

Pic of wires

so… ive been considering dual moding my TE stick… ive got a cthulhu board i bought a while back (pre assembled)…

is there a way to avoid having to solder all the wires between the cthluhu and the TE pcb? i guess im looking for the least amount of soldering possible.

No Dav3yb, you can’t avoid soldering for this mod. If you’re not comfortable with doing the mod, you should have someone else do it for you.

Legendary Gokou, you have way too much exposed wire on the 4 wires from the USB cable, so they’re probably touching each other. You should only have about 3 mm exposed if you’re soldering the wires through the original USB holes (which would mean that you desoldered the cable originally). If you’re not putting the wires through the holes, 1 or 2 mm should be exposed at most, and make sure the solder doesn’t touch between any of the 4 points.

The hot glue actually holds pretty solid, so I would recommend it.
