bumb for a friend
meh. Iām frustrated.
TE stick + mc cthulu + imp
For the life of me, i cant get the cthulu to be recognized. If i plug the cthulu into the ps3 or pc using the cthuluās usb port, it works fine. But when I try to use the usb on the imp(i am holding the guide button down as i plug the stick in to put it in ps3 mode), I cannot get it to recognize. Keep in mind I have the 360 set as the primary pcb. The pc and 360 sees the 360 pcb just fine. I assume, its either power or the guide button connection. I got the vcc point on the imp going in through the 5v/vcc screw terminal on the cthulu. I originally had it soldered in the v1 slot, but i changed it to the screw terminal, hoping that this change may fix it⦠It didnāt. The 2 data lines between the cthulu and imp seem fine too.
I have the guide point on the cthulu going to the guide solder point on the 360 pcb. I also have another wire coming from the guide point on the 360 pcb going to the guide solder point on the imp. This is the correct way? right?
I canāt for the life of me, figure out what the problem is.
Hey guys, what could cause the Guide button to flicker on briefly, then die when you connect the stick into a 360? The 360ās light never lights up that I have a controller connected.
And do I need the diode I see in the Multi-console pcb, if I am only using a ps3 only cthulu?
Nevermind, got it working now, thanks for the help guys.
This is one weird mod, honestly.
Ok, so update, I hooked my stick up to my PC in 360 mode and it says that the device is not recognized. Everything works fine with the Cthulhu.
update: its definitely my guide button. keep in mind, i have the 360 pcb as the primary pcb. I cannot power up the xbox using the guide nor can I access the dashboard. So I decided to de-solder the 2 wires that were soldered to the guide point on the 360 pcb. Guide button still doesnt work. I tried only soldering the wire from the IMPās guide point to the 360 pcb guide point and still nothing from the guide button. So am i fucked? Did i fry the guide point? Is there an alternate point i can get access to the guide? I figure if this point is fried, that the guide point on the mini pcb is out of the question?
im pretty much screwed if this button is dead. meh
There are 2 soldering points for the Guide button, so there is hope yet. I mention them both in my guide.
i think you could solder a guide button wire to the original padā¦
so i learned that the guide button seems to be pressed down at all times. cuz everytime i plug the stick in, the window comes up if i want to turn the console off. I canāt figure out why the button is always pressed. the guide contact point is not touching anything else. I even removed some excess solder form the guide point on the 360 pcb to make sure, and still nothing.
bleh
Did you short the āDISABLE_HOMEā jumper on the Cthulhu?
Plug it into a PC in Cthulhu mode, and check the control panel applet. If the Guide/Home is shorted to ground, then when you hit both Start and Select, then button 13 will light up.
What Iām trying to figure out. Mine does that. It was working fine, then late in a tournament, it stopped recognizing it on 360s. Now, it only recognizes it briefly so that it will turn on if I hit the guide button, then shuts off. plugging it in while switched to 360 says the device cannot be recognized.
I donāt mean to be the bringer of doom and gloom, mah shnegro, but it sounds like the security chip on your 360 PCB died if it canāt recognize it.
Did you try plugging it into your PC and seeing what it says on the setting that 360 canāt recognize?
I tried it again, granted this is on Vista, which asks a lot of questions, and gives you very uncertain answers, but it says:
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.
toodles: i just recently learned, that the select on my 360 TE pcb does not work anymore. either that or the switch on the button is dead. so i gotta figure out what the verdict is there. but im tired of fiddling around for the day. So right now i cant do your test =(
besides would that ādisable homeā jumper on the cthulu even conflict even if i dont even have the home contact on the cthulu wired to the guide contact on the 360 pcb? I disconnect the wire from the guide contact since guide button was giving me issues and i was troubleshooting
so i did a temporary solution and just wired the impās guide point to the start button on the 360 pcb so i had a button to switch between the 2 consoles. i have no guide/home button. But atleast its still usable for tourney tomorrow on ps3(i hope)
Toodles, another weird problem i ran into. I test the stick in ps3 mode. everything is working fine on the ps3. i can navigate the xbm just fine. all buttons and directions are functioning(except my select and home button of course). So i go and boot up STHD and put it through its paces. For some silly reason, the game will not recognize directions, but the game recognizes the buttons fine. Why is it doing this? I load up another game and the sticks directionals are working fine.
You havenāt posted much information about how you set things up; Sorry if the question seemed irrelevant, but I had to make a lot of assumptions about your setup. Post up in detail what all you did, and itād likely help.
As for SFHD, you need to test on a PC; at a guess, one of the select or start buttons is getting pressed, causing the Cthulhu to report only on the left analog stick instead of the dpad. But thatās just a guess. The only proper way to get th einfo needed is to test on a PC.
seems ok on pc. nothing is showing as pressed. stick works fine as pov. buttons all seem to work just fine(except for select, which wasnt working on 360 either. it wasnt working since before i started the mod)
Right now, i have the cthulu as the secondary pcb.
I have the 5v/vcc point on the cthulu wired up to the 5v contact where the usb cable was attached to.
I am only using one ground point on the cthulu, which is wired up to the ground point on the 360 pcb thats located next to the vcc point.
as of right now, the guide point on the cthulu is not wired up to anything(should be wired to the guide contact on the 360 pcb correct?) since the guide function on the 360 pcb seems to ALWAYS be pressed.
I also put the vcc line from the imp into the same 5v/vcc contact on the cthulu rather than use the v1. So i have 2 wires going into that contact. I was doing some troubleshooting, thinking the cthulu wasnt getting any power, at first, which is why i moved it to the 5v/vcc contact.
I have temporarily hooked up the guide contact from the imp to the start button of the 360 pcb so i could get some use out of the stick, for the time being.
all the buttons and directionals from the cthulu are all wired up to the obvious places on the 360 pcb.
As of right now, nothing is wired into the guide contact on the 360. And i need to get another button for select to see if it is the button that is dead, or if itās the pcb.
Hi Faux,
I just noticed something within your drawing, you have listed on the MC Cthulhu top left as BA and next to it is ST.
According to the picture on akihabarashop, the top left should be START therefore (ST) and the one next to it is Select therefore (BA).
Is this correct, or have i just read the diagram wrong and is the MC board a little different from the normal Cthulhu board.
Iām now eagerly awaiting my shipment from toodles, might take a while though for it get in the land down under.
He got those two buttons reversed. You can check the images on the first page of the thread.
What else needs to be added to lock Select & Start & RJ 45 for the wiring diagram
The pics donāt show the usb only points connected. Iām trying to do the mod now and just wanted to know
If going with the MC Cthulhu+Imp in a SFIV TE Stick with the option of the RJ-45 mod does the usb only points have to be soldered together
